His Traitor Queen.

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Jul 18, 2020

My next several weeks spent in the prison were quite adventures. I travelled between consciousness and darkness quite frequently. Not that I minded. During the few times that I was awake, my mind kept wandering to what beast man said. Did I really kill innocent creatures? Am I a traitor? Who did I even betray? But the truth is, I don't believe him. Even with no memories, me killing innocent people doesn't sit well with me. I don't think I would be able to do such a horrendous thing. Ever. But I am stuck in a cell, aren't I?

Beast man also mentioned there was a trail. A trail that will decide my fate. I wonder what the punishment for a traitor is in this kingdom would be. Is it a life sentence? chopping of my limbs and feeding them to animals? Or...

Death? No freaking way...they surely won't sentence someone to death before even uncovering the truth, will they? And look at me! I'm too young and beautiful to be laying in a dirt hole! Not that I have seen myself or know how I look.

This whole situation is ridiculous. I am getting punished and I don't even know what I did. Darn it! Maybe I can convince the king to let me go. Beast man surely doesn't believe me, but I still got a shot with the king. What if he doesn't believe either? then, I can always go for plan B; seduction.

I look down at myself. With the way I look right now, that's unlikely too.

The sound of the door being pushed open drags me out of my thoughts. The minion from earlier steps inside. "The court has come to a decision regarding your sentence," he says. "And?" I ask hopefully.

"Death sentence"

oh

"You will be allowed a bath and clean clothes before the execution. You have an hour to prepare yourself"

I strip off my dirty clothes and enter the shower. The metallic head that hung above me groaned, slowly pouring cool water onto my tense body. I take the rough soap and slowly drag it across my body, washing away weeks of grime and dirt. My eyes prickle with tears, ready to fall at the slightest moment. I will not cry, I chant in my head, clenching my fists. I will not cry for a crime that I have no memory of committing. I am better than that.

Closing my eyes, I try to block all of my thoughts. Instead, I focus on the small mirror placed on the shower wall. I see myself for the first time. The girl in the mirror had long unruly red hair, her lips were dark and plum, her cheeks were hallowed in, indicating weight loss.

I'd have to thank the luxury meals served in the prison for that.

Her eyes were small and almond-shaped. what a beautiful color I think, looking at her golden brown eyes.

Under a different circumstance, I'd say that I look quite ravishing. Too bad.

The door suddenly rattles. A fist, pumping on it "Hurry up. We haven't got all day". I quickly dry off and put on the clean clothes they gave me. I step out of the room, now fresh and ready to be slaughtered.

How pathetic is it I think, dying without even knowing your own name, past, and loved ones? Did I even have one? Are they missing me? None of it matters anyway. I hope it's quick and painless.

"You have to put this on," the minion says, holding handcuffs and a rag. I eye the rag suspiciously, are they planning to choke me or something?

"It's to cover your face," He says with a solemn expression. I guess he doesn't despise me enough to want me dead.

"Wait," I say, stopping his action. "What's your name?" I question softly.

"Why do you want to know my name," he asks, looking confused. "I know it's weird, but I thought it would be nice to at least know one name before I die. Besides, you're the one who gave me food everyday" I smile, trying to lighten the mood.

"Ansel," he says smiling back, "My name is Ansel". "Well, it was nice meeting you Ansel" I put my hand forward for him to shake, "You too," he says shaking my hand.

"Are you ready?"

"No"

**

We walk silently. Him occasionally guiding my path. My hands are cuffed and a rag Is pulled over my head. The blindness makes the situation even more frightening than it already is. I guess that was the purpose.

"We are almost there. Its outside, on the castle grounds" Ansel says.

I feel the sun rays hit my skin as we step outside. My werewolf sense immediately picks up hundreds of different scents. There is a crowd to watch the execution.

"There are several others. You have to wait for your turn," I nod, not having anything to say. The announcer then calls out a number, I hear some feet shuffling, then a terrified scream before silence.

I cross my arms around my body, trying to stop myself from shaking. Closing my eyes, I try to think of other things when the announcer calls number after number and the process continues.

That's when it hit me.

The scent.

It surrounded me, slowly invading every single sense of mine, suffocating me.

It was intoxicating. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my mind. But the scent enters me, coursing through my veins, paralyzing me. I almost fall on my knees at its force.

Someone shakes me, trying to get me moving. My mind is in a haze trying to figure out what is going on. I breathe in more of the scent as I blindly move my legs along with Ansel.

"Step on top"

"Prisoner 381 will be condemned with capital punishment of death by hanging for high treason against the royal family of the kingdom of Eistas"

These words should terrify me, make me cry, and scream; but they don't. Instead, my head is in frenzy trying to figure out what that stupefying smell is and where is it coming from. Is it what I think it is?

"No..no.." I murmur. I can't die now, not before I find my...my...

Suddenly the rag on my head is pulled off. The sunrays lick my skin as a noose is placed around my neck. It tightens as the stool supporting my weight is being slowly pushed to the side. But my eyes stare straight ahead.

Found you, I think sadly

At the platform right in front of me, on the throne with the royal crown on his head, sits,

My mate.

She was lost. A traitor. Bound by the demons of her memories. Or the lack of.

He was a king. Young and inexperienced. Shackled by the expectations of his people and the reality of an ill-fated prophecy.

They were the opposites. Both a forbidden fruit for each.

Was is it fate that brought them together or her weird tendency to attract handsome men at every turn?
