~Fredrick Falcon? But, I thought Ren's last name was Whitesman?~ Anette, without realizing, had put her hand to her chin and was scrunching her brow. She was focused on her question at hand and hadn't paid attention to anything else.
"Lovely?" Captain Ren asked, facing the maiden to look directly at her expression. "Lovely?" she said again.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I was deep in thought." Anette apoligized. She lifted her chin, still with a focused mind and asked, "Why was your father named Fredrick Falcon?"
"He wasn't named anything. He called himself that because he wanted a silly pirate nickname." Ren rolled her eyes.
Though they never spoke outloud, both Anette and Nico thought basically the same thing, which was: ~But, don't YOU also have a silly pirate nickname?~
"Eventually, everyone else called him Falcon. However, his real name is, indeed, Whitesman." Ren strode away from the two. She left to talk to old Yellowpatch, who was doing his job all wrong, from the way Ren's actions were percieved.
What Ren spoke of had, once again, made Anette's thoughts wander. ~This makes a bit more sense now, I suppose. Now I know where Ren got her reputation amoung my people. Fredrick Falcon was known especially for hunting Sirens. However, I never really believed he was real. The elders always used him as a fairytale to scare the children into staying close to home. "Never stray too far from your place of living, or the Falcon Pirate might take you away!" is what my grandmother always said. Ren may not even know of her father's wreched doings below the surface. I suppose if I did tell her, it wouldn't help her in any way.
~Although I do recall one day when the elders were celebrating. My grandmother had shared the news with me. "The Siren Slayer has fallen! He was slain by a man from a close by village in Redtown." This could help Ren find her father's killer!~ This realization made Anette gasp. Ren walked back over to her wonderingly.
"Are you okay lovely? Are you feeling sick again?" Without success, the captain tried to get Anette's attention.
~But what if Ren is just like her father? After all, I haven't known her that long.~ She stared at the Captain warily. "I'm fine." she slowly spoke.
~I must know whether or not Ren is a Siren Slayer, that will decide whether I trust her or not.~
"Good lovely. You've been acting quite strange recently." Ren brushed some hair out of her face. She turned toward the left side of the ship and looked out over the sea.
"Captain, do you know where we're going yet?" Nico asked.
"Actually, I might." Ren smiled. "We're in the direction of heading toward some under water caves. We can stop by and see what treasure lies within the ones closest to the surface." The Captain snickered with satisfaction.
~This is my chance! Most sirens build temporary homes in under water caves. I'll have to watch carefully to see if Ren tries to hurt or kill one of them.~
