I almost hit a bird on the way because the thing was so tiny. Good thing birds fly fast. I pull the car into the parking lot. “I can’t park it mom.” “Let’s switch sides then.” I hop out of the car and run to the other side because I saw a car coming. Mom parked just before the car could take our spot.
After mom finished getting the car parked she burst out laughing. Her laugh was so cheerful that I couldn’t help but laugh with her. Tears beamed out my eyes as we came to a stop. I make sure that there are no cars as I race mom to the entrance. I didn’t realize how fast mom was until now. Of course I won though.
“Good run,” Mom said, giving me a fist pump. I walk in with mom as she heads straight to the popcorn section. “Hey, mom? I’m going to grab some drinks. I can’t just chow down on popcorn with nothing to drink.” “I feel ya. I’ll meet you at the front then.” “Okay.”
I haven’t spent time like this with mom since forever ago. I really miss this. I grab three twelve packs of MountainDew because I want to go down on those tonight. Mom also loves MountainDew, so it’s a win win. I rush to the front as the three twelve packs crush my arms. Once I spot mom I set the pops down in her cart. I notice that she has grabbed us spicy chips and popcorn chips. I looked at mom's hands and that’s when I felt really fired up.
“We’re going down on these tonight,” Mom yelled quietly. “You’re going to let me drink?” “You had a rough couple of nights this weekend. I’ll allow it.” YES!! Drinking with mom is going to be fun. “We should hang out more often,” Mom said, scanning our items. “I agree.”
I let mom drive us back to the house. We finally make it home, then I choose to look at my phone. Ty and Nick blew my phone up. I didn’t read any of the messages since I didn’t want to get sucked into that world just yet.
“I’ll pick out three movies and you’ll pick out three. We’ll go back and forth. Sound fair,” She asked, setting up the snacks and drinks. I walk towards the kitchen to grab us bowls. I also go to the guest room to grab blankets. It’s been chilly in the living room lately.
“I picked my three. Time for you to pick yours.” I look at the horror movies we have. Boy do horror movies scare me. And that’s why I love ‘em. I picked out three horror movies. “Rock, paper, scissors for who goes first?” Mom agreed. “Rock, paper, scissors,” We said in unison. I chose rock and she chose paper.
“So what are we watching first?” “Anabelle comes home.” “You know me so well.” She puts the movie in and we sit back skipping all the previews. After the movie finally starts I grab the spicy chips and my phone. I know that I shouldn’t look at my phone while watching the movie with mom, but I want to know what he texted me.
