Nichole rolled over in bed as she peered at the clock on the nightstand. The bright green light read 3 am. She pulled the covers back and put her foot down on the floor.
“Come back to bed,” a voice sounded from behind her.
She jumped up, startled as she turned to see who it was, “Oh! I forgot you were here.”
“Gee, thanks,” he smiled as he sat up in bed.
He kissed her shoulder and wrapped his arms around her. It was a strange feeling to wake up in bed next to a man, especially her best friend.
“I have to use the bathroom,” she smiled as she pulled his arms from around her.
“Can we play afterward?” he grinned as he lay back on the bed with his arms folded behind his head.
“I will think about,” she smiled back.
Closing the door behind her, she took a deep breath. She was still thinking about Deivian. How could he act so close and still go on off on a vacation with Tisha?
“Are you okay?” Sangre whispered from the other side of the door.
“Y-Yeah,” she replied as she quickly turned on the faucet.
She wasn't about to hurt Sangre again by bringing up the situation. It sucked to have such a kind man wanting her, and while she wanted another.
I am a terrible girl; she groaned.
Nichole took a deep breath before she exited the bathroom. Sangre was sitting on the bed watching some romance drama on the flat screen in the room's corner.
He turned to her, “Come over here.”
She walked over to him and stood in front of him, “What is it? Is everything okay?”
“Yeah,” he patted his lap, “Have a seat.”
She laughed as she sat down on his leg, “What is this about, silly?”
“I'm trying to set the mood,” he smiled, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“What mood?” she giggled, “Are you trying to seduce me?”
“Is it working?” he grinned.
“I will not ruin our friendship,” she laughed as she slid off his lap.
“It's not gonna ruin it for me,” he joked.
“Am I interrupting something?” a voice spoke through the laughter.
Nichole fell to the floor as the voice startled her, “What?!”
“Hey, Deivian,” Sangre smiled at him.
“Yeah,” he responded as he put his luggage on his bed.
“Welcome back,” Nichole sighed as she picked herself off the ground.
“You don't mind me staying the night?” Sangre asked as she stood up.
“Doesn't look like it matters what I think. You're, here aren't you?” Deivian answered as he switched shirts and left the room.
“That was weird,” Nichole sighed, “Do you think he was mad?”
Sangre sat back down on the bed, “Mad or not, it's still your room.”
“Yeah, but I should have said something to him,” she sat down beside him.
“Shall we finish what we started?” Sangre smiled as he touched her hand.
Deivian walked down the hall of the dormitory as he searched through the messages on his cellphone. He didn't notice the scantily cheery girl rushing down towards him as they collided. Looking down, he noticed the childish girl rubbing her side as she sat on the floor with legs wide open.
“That's not very ladylike you know?” he looked down at her.
“Well, it's not very nice to knock people down either!” she shouted as she stood up and stared him in the face.
“Well, you shouldn't run in the halls,” he responded as he put his phone in his pocket.
Standing up, she noticed that it was Deivian that she bumped into.
"Ah! Dei!" she jumped on him excitedly, wrapping her legs around him.
He held onto her as she gripped tightly around his neck.
"Hey to you too," he laughed.
She climbed off him after giving him a quick peck on the lips.
"What are you doing in the boys' dorm?" he asked as he walked passed her, "You aren't making mischief again, are you?"
"No, I am not causing mischief," she pouted as she skipped down the stairs after him.
"Oh, yeah! I came to find my sister," she caught up with him and grabbed a hold of his hand, "I heard she started living here in the dorms."
“Yeah,” he told her.
“But isn't this a boys' dormitory?” she put her finger on her chin and stared up at him.
“Yeah, but it appears it may become a coed dorm,” he confirmed, “She is staying in my room.”
Clover's face turned sour for a moment, then perked up, “What?! Are you serious?!”
“Yea, but she is with someone right now,” he walked down the stairs.
“That's not right!” Clover skipped behind him.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“Well, she is shacking up with you and now with another guy,” she stated as she grabbed hold of his hand.
“We aren't shacking up,” he sighed, “We're just… roommates.”
His heart hurt a little as the confirmation of the words made it more real to him.
"Oh," Clover pouted, "Well, you’re dating Tisha anyway, and if I know you, which I do, you won’t cheat on her."
“Yeah well... We just broke up,” he confirmed.
“I’m actually shocked by that! Is that her texting you for the hundredth time?” Clover laughed as his phone beeped again.
“Yeah,” he smiled, “She wants to get back together, but I don't know. She said some shitty things to me. It's been seven years of the same crap.”
“Aww poor baby,” she hugged his arm, “You shouldn't have given her so many chances... Can I be your girlfriend, now?”
“You're very weird, you know,” he looked down at her, “And I thought I told you you're too young.”
“I'm not that young anymore,” she pouted, “So, you don’t need to keep using that excuse.”
“It’ still no,” he pulled his arm away from her.
“I just turned 17!” she grabbed his hand again.
“That's too young, Clo,” he told her as they headed out of the front door of the dormitory, “I'm 23.”
“That's not too old for me,” she smiled at him.
“You know you can really be exhausting,” he told her again.
“Hmph!” she pouted.
“Aren't you supposed to go see Nik?” he asked as he sat down on the bench in front of the dormitory.
“I will,” she sat down beside him, “But I want to spend some more time with you right now.”
They sat in silence, looking around the schoolyard as it remained empty. It was quiet for a weekend night. Clover stood up and stretched as Deivian glanced over at her. Her shirt stretched up with her as it revealed the little lime green four-leaf clover dangling from her belly button. The dark green plaid skirt was just a few centimeters from being too short.
“Nice belly ring,” he told her as he looked away from her.
“Thanks,” she turned to him and smiled.
“So, is the rumor about you true?” he asked as he leaned back on the bench.
“Huh?” she blushed as she stood in front of him, “Is there something new circulating around?”
He looked up at her confused, “I'm not sure if it's new or not.”
“I mean, you asked as if you believe it,” she pouted as she fidgeted with her shirt.
“I didn't say that,” he smiled.
“Well, people think what they want to think,” she crossed her arms.
“I guess,” he licked his lips, “but I don't care either way.”
She smiled as she leaned forward with her hands on his knees, “You're still as sweet as ever. Always the nice guy.”
Clover leaned in to kiss him, but he stopped her, “Not a chance.”
“You're such a tease!” she sat up and crossed her arms.
“What's going on here?!” Nichole shouted as she walked through the front door of the dormitory.
“Hey, sis!” Clover flashed a devilish grin at her.
“What are you doing here, Clover?” Nichole stormed over to her.
“I was just talking to D,” Clover put her hand on his chest.
“I can see that,” Nichole angered, “Dei?”
“We were just talking,” he smiled.
“Clover never just talks,” Nichole crossed her arms.
“Hey Sans!” Clover waved at Sangre who was standing behind Nichole with a confused look on his face.
“Uh, hey,” Sangre replied, “I will see you tomorrow Nichole.”
“Ok,” she replied.
Sangre kissed her on the cheek before walking back into the dormitory.
“Let's go, Clover,” Nichole pointed to the door.
“But we aren't done talking yet,” Clover pouted.
“Yes, you are,” Nichole declared as she peered at her, “Right Dei?”
“Let's go to the room,” he sighed.
