Scar and Alpha charged. They locked heads. Alex drew his sword and charged at Lindsay. Jack jumped on Alex’s back and put him into a neck lock. Thomas was right about one thing: Jack wasn’t very tough. Alex ripped Jack right off. However, Jack was very persistent. He drew his sword and charged at Alex. Alex turned towards him and they locked swords.
“Come on Jack. Sometimes, you just gotta give up,” Alex said.
“Can’t. That’s just not the way I do things," Jack replied.
“You little-” Alex started, but he was interrupted before he could finish that sentence. Alpha threw Scar and he landed right next to Alex.
“Get up!” Alex commanded. The Tyrannoceratops stood up, but Alpha charged right into him. That’s when Alex lost it. He turned around and slashed at Jack with his sword.
“Take that Silvercauther," Alex said. Jack was on the ground with his side bleeding profusely.
“I...will...never…give up!” Jack panted.
“You will stop after this," Alex said.
“Jack!” Lindsay yelled as she ran over to help him up. Scar and Alpha were still fighting. They locked heads again, but this time Scar threw Alpha into the old hotel. It came crashing down on top of our dinosaur.
“Alpha!” I yelled. Alpha was weak, but still alive. The hotel, however, was completely demolished.
“How do you feel now that your dinosaur is almost dead?” Alex said.
“Honestly,” Lindsay glared at him with tears glistening in her eyes. “Pretty darn mad!" She took Jack’s sword from him and attacked Alex, darting close enough to swing the sword at him and injure him, then leaping back before he could retaliate.
“Ha!” Alex shouted, trying to seem fine. “You fight like a girl!”
Lindsay continued, replying, “try hard enough and you will too!”
Alex grew weaker and weaker until Anna stepped in with a sword I didn’t even know she had. With one fluid motion, she ended her father’s life.
“I told you I wanted a puppy for Christmas,” she told his motionless body.
“Didn’t know you could handle a sword," Lindsay said. I think it might have actually been a reluctant compliment.
I was lying next to Jack.
“He needs help," I said.
“Pretty bad cut," Anna said. Before we could do anything, we had to get Jack somewhere safe. We went to the old infirmary to see if there was anything we could use to help Jack. We found some bandages and put them around Jack. That night, we stayed in the infirmary. Just because we felt safer with the medical supplies nearby. I woke at six AM and saw Jack outside.
“You should be lying down," I told him.
“Why? I’ll live. Just looking at the sunrise," he replied, though he was wincing from the pain. He was right. The sunrise was amazing.
“So, your life outside of the island. How was it?” I asked. He looked at me like I was an idiot.
“My parents were killed in a boat accident," He told me.
“Oops. Sorry, I forgot. My life outside of here was crazy. I would always help my father chop wood in the winter. The next thing I know, I’m not chopping wood anymore. I’m sitting by the fireplace. All alone," I muttered.
“So, what happened?” Jack asked.
“Plane crash. I was at my grandparents' house when it happened," I said.
“Life does that to you. You give it all you have, and it takes you for granted. Sometimes, life is the best, the next, it kills you. Literally. But you tough it out. Because that’s the only way it’ll be worth living," Jack replied quietly. Most encouraging words that kid ever said. We silently watched as the sun rose above the horizon. We listened to all of the pterosaurs, and we waited until the sun was up in the sky to wake up Lindsay and Anna.
“Jack...Kyle…” a voice came from the darkness.
“Hello? Who’s there?” Jack asked. A completely black creature walked in front of us from the tree line. It had the body and head of a panther, but it had glistening spines running down its back and tail. Its fangs dripped with saliva.
“Seems like you got yourselves into a mess,” it hissed.
“What?” I asked.
“You are in love with Lindsay, aren’t you?” it asked me.
“How did you know that?” I demanded.
“I am a skilled watcher. Alas, the only problem with you being in love with Lindsay is that she does not feel the same about you. She is in love with Jack,” As soon as it said those words, I froze. I looked at Jack. He was as shocked as I was.
“Do what now?” Jack asked.
“Every night, I watched her write in her diary about you. Jack, do you feel the same way about her?” It asked.
“I...I...really don’t know," Jack replied evasively. I glared at him, feeling betrayed. He knew how I felt about her.
“Jack!” I heard Lindsay yell as the creature pounced on Jack. It had used our distraction to its advantage.
“Get..off..me!” Jack yelled.
Anna ran inside the infirmary and grabbed a sword. She stabbed it right into its back. It bounced harmlessly off.
“Lindsay! Grab my sword!” Jack yelled. She ran inside, grabbed it, and threw it to him. Why did she do that? I still have no clue. Luckily, Jack caught it and thrust it into the creature’s heart. It shrieked in pain, and Jack was able to shove it off of himself. Jack stood up, but the creature could barely stay on its feet.
“Say hello to your worst nightmare," it said, then it disappeared.
“Watch your heads!” Anna yelled. It had somehow teleported behind us. It pounced and landed on Jack again. He threw the dinosaur off of him and it landed with a huge thud on the ground. It stood up and limped towards us. It disappeared and reappeared behind us again.
“I’m done with this crap!” Jack yelled as he swung his sword. He scratched the dino and it fell to the ground.
“You will never understand,” it screeched.
“Shut up!” Jack yelled and thrust his sword into the heart of his enemy. It fell and disappeared. It didn’t come back, but we heard something behind us. Scar came rushing out of the woods and completely destroyed the infirmary. Bob and Luna jumped out of the ruins and both jumped on Scar. Then someone came out of the woods. It was none other than Alex himself. He was alive. Was he invincible or something?
