I walked into the classroom, spotting Tori and Edam sitting in one of the middle rows. The room was simple and straightforward, posters and pictures of rock climbing, and happy camping faces lined the walls—all photos of the previous year's students.
"Derik!" Torri called out and waved when our eyes met. I smiled back at her and made my way over.
"Did anything exciting happen?" I asked as I sat down beside the two.
"Hardly, we just wandered around the school till now," Edam exclaimed, sounding annoyed.
Torri turned to him a playful smile on her face. "Oh, really. Tell that to the boyfriends of the girls you were hitting on earlier. the ones who were hunting you down for the last half hour." Her smile grew as she continued to speak. "But I guess if it was nothing, maybe I will go find them." She said and started to rise out of her seat.
He snatched her arm and tugged her down. "No!" He said, and we laughed at him as he ducked his head down a little as the other students in the class stared at him.
It wasn't long until a man, probably in his late thirties, walked into the room and smiled at the class. "My name is Henry Larand. I will be your instructor for the outside portion of your classes. but please call me Henry." He pulled out some paperwork and sat down at his desk. "Now, who wants to introduce themselves first. Give us your name, maybe an interest and why you were interested in taking the Adventure Recreations course."
He looked at our table. "Why don't we throw things around. we will start with you three."
I turned to Torri as she nodded at Henry. "My name is Torri, I enjoy photography, and I decided to take this course because i want to do nature photography." She said, shrugging and then turned to Edam.
"I'm Edam." a wicked smile spread across his face. "An interest would be-." He suddenly stopped speaking, and I saw that Torri was pinching his side, stopping him before he decided to make a fool of himself. He managed to shake her off, then continued. "I don't know; there are a lot of things. but I joined this course because I love the outdoors and can't sit still for long periods."
Henry nodded his head, and the attention of the class turned to me. "My name is Derik, I enjoy bird watching, and I took this course cause I also love the outdoors," I said and watched as the class looked to the next table.
I tried to keep my attention on the other students as they introduced themselves; however, my attention quickly turned to my dream from last night.
I have been seeing Agnar in my dreams for years now, I didn't know why, but it had started when I lost my memories as a child. I had memories of him as a child playing with his siblings. Then when he was a young adult, in his first battle. I saw his parents' death and even when he married the girl with the pale hair.
But I had never seen his death before, never seen the end of his life. It shook me a little; I knew he was already dead; however, it was almost like losing someone you knew. He had been with me for over ten years now, and to learn he had died like that. I shook my head, trying to get my mind off of it.
"Hey," Edam said, nudging me with his elbow. "Do you think she's albino?"
"What?" I asked, then looked to the front of the classroom and froze.
The girl smiled at the classroom and waved slightly. "It's nice to meet everyone, and sorry I'm a little late. My name is Estella. I graduated last year and have come back to give Henry a hand until the assistant can come back from maternity leave." She glanced around the classroom, and I watched as her Violet eyes lit up when they landed on me.
