All Sebastian ever seemed to be doing was paperwork. It was his life. The majority of it was Letters. Letters from people begging to be accepted into his pack, peace offerings, gifts, and arranged marriages for alliances and/or protection. He scoffed at the last one.
Usually, a werewolf would typically find their fated at the age of eighteen when they were able to sense them. When Sebastian had turned eighteen he was so excited to go to school and find his Luna, but unfortunately, by the end of the day, he was still mateless. Regardless, he didn't give up hope, maybe she was just younger than him and was not of age herself.
Sebastian was now twenty-eight, and still mateless.
Many offered themselves or their children to him to be his chosen mate but he always declined. He had a mate out there and he would wat for her for as long as it took.
People whispered that the Moon Goddess was punishing him. Dooming him to a life of loneliness. Another whisper was that he had already met his mate a long time ago but she had rejected him, turning him into the dark king that he was. Because who in their right mind could love a monster.
A low whine from his wolf slipped past his lips. He shook his head and turned his focus back to the mountain of work that he had to do.
An hour later he got an email that piqued his interest. It was from a neighboring pack a few towns away. The young Alpha was requesting a meeting to pay his respects to him and to talk about treaties and such.
He had heard of the young Alpha before. Two years ago, when the young man was eighteen, he had stopped a war from breaking out between his pack and a clan of vampires, Kinnling his father, and taking the title of Alpha through battle.
But something didn't add up with the events that day. Some people couldn't remember what had happened in the field. They remembered getting there ready to fight, but then.. nothing. Others swore that there was something, or rather someone, who had intervened and blessed the young Alpha and his mating to his vampire mate. Some say it was the Goddess herself.
He wrote a confirmation letter of a time and day that he would grant him access into his territory. He didn't trust rumors and he wanted to know what Alpha Benjamin remembered from that day. He was about to press send but a voice echoed in his mind,
"Alpha there's been a sighting of rouges near the border."
He growled and quickly made his way out of the packhouse, forgetting about the email entirely. "I'm on my way."
Sebastian quickly ran to the location where his pack warriors were waiting for him. He walked right up to his beta James and his fourth, Natasha, the head warrior who was on patrol, "How many?"
"Two. They were spotted near the western border. Trackers followed their scent north, heading into the woods. They're still near and from the scent, they've been hanging around here for a few days."
Sebastian narrowed his eyes, "Why weren't they scented out earlier?"
"Today was the first day that they came close enough for us to even catch their scent."
He grunted and gave Natasha a nod accepting the answer, but not liking it. The rouges had been camping close to their territory for an unknown reason and they had been around undetected for days.
"But there's something else," James said, pulling Sebastian out of his musing. "Something else?" James nodded. "Explain."
"Their scents led us to a small cabin in the woods. We're sure that's where they've have been hiding out there for the past few days."
Sebastian smirked, "Well why don't we pay our new neighbors a visit?"
---
When Sebastian was told that there was a cabin into woods, he had expected it to be an ugly little thing, quickly built, and made for a temporary stay. He and a few others in his pack wandered through these woods past the border every now and then and they had never come across anything before.
When they got to the small clearing, the cabin that they saw looked like it had been there for years. Vines, moss, and flowers grew up and around the sides. Even though it looked very old, it looked like it was well taken care of.
"How long has this cabin been here? Has anybody seen it before?" All he got in response were a series of no's. People's feelings of confusion toward the cabin seeped into the link, but his own was of excitement. His wolf was jumping around inside of him, urging him forward.
"Beta, Gamma, come with me. The rest of you surround the cabin and stay out of sight. We don't what they're doing here or what they have planned so stay vigilant." Everyone dispersed and began to blend into their surroundings, while James and Natasha flanked Sebastian and walked into the clearing.

Matthew and Issac, mated twins, have been staying with Kai for eight days. They had broken into the small cabin thinking that no one had lived there, of course, they were wrong. When Kai had caught them in his kitchen stuffing their faces, he laughed, made them a fucking feast, and invited them to stay for as long as they needed.
As they inhaled their food, barely taking the time to chew, they expected Kai to question them or get mad at them for breaking into his home. Issac apologized profusely to Kai but Kai shook his head and eased Issac's worry, speaking in a soft tone and assured him that he was not mad.
After the large dinner Issac was nodding off at the dinner table and without another thought, Kai was showing them to a spare bedroom ad wished them a good night. Matthew's guard was as high as ever.
He found it unsettling that Kai was letting complete strangers crash in his home without even questioning why they were wandering around in the forest all dirt, tattered, and half-naked. He felt uneasy about his kindness as if there was a catch to it.
Issac was fast asleep on the bed and as he laid his head next to his brother he planned to sleep with one eye open. After a few short minutes, a soft melody hummed in the air that made his eyelids very heavy and he ended up falling into a deep sleep.
When he woke up he reached out expecting to feel the comfort of his mate but when his hand landed on cold sheets he leaped off the bead so fast he tripped over the sheets and fell out of bed with a thud. He quickly composed himself and dashed out the room. I knew I shouldn't have trusted him! Goddess, I should have been more alert! His only thought was to find Issac.
He slowed when he heard Issacs laugh echoing off the walls. He walked into the Kitchen to see Issac and Kai cooking and laughing. The scene warmed his heart and he couldn't suppress the smile to Issac's carefree and relaxed state.
They had been on the run for about four months. They were fraternal twins as well as mates. It wasn't completely unheard of for twins to end up as mates. Mates were other halves of a soul and some believed that's exactly what twins were.
Matthew had always felt more than just "brotherly love" for Issac. They had kept that they were mates a secret for two years before they were found out. Their pack didn't accept their pairing and gave them to option to either reject each other and be paired with high ranking she-wolves or be cast out.
They were now rogues.
Kai was a very kind and gentle man. The whole day, he was happy to sit and listen to Issac talk about any and everything. Issac laughed uncontrollably while telling goofy stories about all the trouble that they used to get into as young pups. When he let it slip that they were mates, Issac stopped laughing immediately, waiting for Kai's reaction with a fearful look in his eyes.
Matthew was ready to stand up and defend his mate from the scorn and disgust that he had seen in everyone else's eyes, but Kai didn't react to then new in any negative way at all. The judgmental comments and rude behavior was nowhere to be seen and instead, Kai smiled confusedly at the two while waiting for Issac to finish his story.
"Why are you looking at me in that way?"
"You're not mad or disgusted that I'm mated to my brother?" Issac said while ducking his head. He had started to really like Kai and didn't want his new friend to hate him. Maybe he just didn't hear him slip up before.
"Oh my dear child, of course not. Why in heavens would you expect me to react in such a revolting way regarding your mating?"
He told Kai about how they were kicked out of their pack because of their refusal to reject each other and for the first time the smile fell from his lips. Matthew was having a hard time keeping eye contact. It felt very hard to breathe and the air cracked with a strange energy that made their wolves whimper.
The anger was evident in his eyes, but thankfully it wasn't directed towards them. Kai had asked a few more questions and when Matthew told him which pack they were from a cold chill ran down his spine when Kai repeated the name.
He gulped loudly, feeling just a tad bit of remorse for his birth pack. He didn't know what this human was capable of but the way he had said it made him wary of the young innocent looking man and promising himself to never get on his bad side.
Other than that scary turn of a conversation, the two wolves enjoyed their time with their host. Kai wasn't like anyone they had ever met before. Being around him made them feel safe. They had no problems, nothing to worry about, and they could express their love towards each other freely, which instantly prompted Cora to tease the two. Commenting about how cute the couple was which never failed to make Issac blush.
On the eighth day, they were ready to leave. They couldn't stay with Kai any longer. They still had another mate out there somewhere, waiting for them, they just knew it. Kai fussed over them all morning long and packed them more than enough food for their journey. Once they said their goodbyes, they walked to the edge of the clearing,
only to be stopped by three werewolves.
Without delay, they got into a defensive position. Matthew tried to push Issac behind him while he sniffed the air. He cursed himself for not smelling them sooner. More wolves hid in the trees, they were heavily outnumbered. He stood tall, he had to protect his mate and Kai.
Sebastian glared down at the two and growled, but to his surprise, his wolf didn't growl with him. Instead, his wolf was reeling in anticipation. He was about to speak but the sound of a door opening interrupted him and the most amazing smell hit him like a ton of bricks.
-
Kai knew he had more guests surrounding his cabin, but for some odd reason, his wolf was more active than it had ever been in all his years. It thoroughly confused him. "Cora?"
"There's a pack of wolves surrounding the cabin Kai, and they don't seem very happy." He nodded his head, even though Cora could not see him and went to greet the new arrivals. When he stepped outside the most pleasant smell engulfed his senses. His eyes immediately locked onto the most amazing sapphire blue ones he had ever seen. Mate
-
Mate. The young man was.. beautiful. No, the word beautiful didn't foo him justice. His eyes were a dazzling forest green, his smile was heart-melting, and his scent! Goddess, it was making him go insane. His wolf was not helping in the slightest; yipping and prancing around inside of him, unable to keep still but simultaneously wanting to lay down and expose his belly to his mate.
The young man walked down the steps toward him. His steps were soft, almost nonexistent. It was like his feet weren't even touching the ground. The air was different around him, he and all his pack members could feel it.
Sebastian subconsciously began to stake a step forward, wanting to meet his mate halfway. He still hadn't broken eye contact with those brilliant green ones that stared right back. But when he took a step the rouges that he had forgotten were in front of him growled and put their hand to the side to keep the young man behind them.
This time his wolf did growl with him, "How dare these mutts try to keep us away from our mate! Tear them apart! Protect mate!" He let out another growl when he caught his mates scent clinging to the rouge's clothing. The trance Sebastian seemed to be in broke and he stared in shock as he realized the situation he was in. Two rouges, as well as his human mate, his male human mate stood in front of him
Kai put his hand on Mattew's shoulder, relaxing him, "There is no need for that. Go." The two men bowed lowly to Kai, ready to argue that they would stay and fight for him, to protect him, but Kai wasn't having any of it. He lifted their heads and gently pushed them to stand to their full height.
"It's alright, you need not worry about me, I'm a lot tougher than I look," he said with a chuckle at the end. He grabbed their hands and entwined them into one another's, "Go. Head North, there you will find a pack that will accept you with open arms. Your time here has come to an end and I wish you the best of luck and happiness in life. Don't be afraid to write or call on me if you ever find yourselves in need of my assistance. I hope that one day we will meet again, my friends."
The two men looked at one another then turned back to Kai and gave him another respectful bow. They turned away, hand in hand, ready for the start of a new life together.
