Kai watched as Issac and Matthew walked away to start a new and better life together. He turned his attention to his mate and all the men and women he had to lure out of their hiding spots.
Sebastian and his pack had no idea what to make of what had just taken place right in front of them. They couldn't believe it. "Why were rogues bowing, let alone listening to a.. human?"
Sebastian heard the question through the mind link. He was wondering the same thing. To top it all off the rogues just walked away without trying to cause harm to the pack, not even sparing them a second glance.
The look of surprise and confusion enveloping all of their faces made Kai chuckle, "Hello, is there something I can help you all with?"
Hearing the cute noise coming out of his mate made his heart skip a beat. He quickly turned his attention away from the man in front of him, afraid to get lost in his eyes again. But when he looked around he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"What are you all doing? Why are you all out in the open?!"
The warriors were just as confused as he was and began apologized profusely. They hadn't even realized when they had joined them in the clearing. This just angered Sebastian further and prompted him to stomp right up to the young man.
As Sebastian stalked forward, Kai's confident posture never wavered. They held eye contact the entire time, but the smile on his face slowly disappeared as he watched the alpha coming at him with rage building up inside of him.
They were so close. Sebastian could feel the heat radiating off of the shorter male. The scent was intoxicating. Up close he could see that those green eyes held flecks of gold in them, making it seem like they were sparkling. His skin was flawless and his lips were so full. He was so tempted to see if they were as soft as they looked.
All he wanted to do was pull his mate into his arms and never let go. Instead, without looking away from the mesmerizing eyes, he said in a harsh tone, "After them."
Kai glared up at the man who continued to look down at him. How dare he! Why would he continue to go after them?! He yelled out in an even harsher tone, "Stop!"
Those who moved to do as their alpha commanded stopped dead in their tracks. Some lost their footing and fell flat on their faces when they were forced to step. Even those who hadn't moved were affected by the command. They were all at a loss for words and beyond shocked and mortified that their wolves had defied their alpha,
without hesitation.
Sebastian was astonished that his own wolf had sat his ass down, obeying like a good little pup. His pack members were swarming the link apologizing and asking questions, adding to his own confusion. "What the hell?! I'm an Alpha. My pack nor I should be taking orders from a human, even if he is my mate. That's not how it works, not till after we've mated."
Kai huffed, "This is not how I had imagined this going." He quickly transported Matthew and Issac away from danger, right outside of the pack that housed their third mate. He took a few steps back away from the alpha, "I'm sorry, but may I ask why you are asking these people to chase after my friends? As far as I am aware they have done nothing wrong."
Sebastian quickly linked his best tracker and some warriors to sneak away and go after the rouges. Their wolves were a bit hesitant, but after a few wary steps, they were on their way.
Sebastian smirked, "You're lucky that they didn't kill you. Your friends are dangerous people who need to be taken in for questioning." Sebastian said choosing his wording carefully. He wasn't technically lying, just withholding some truth. He couldn't really tell the human what they really intended to do to the rogues.
"Oh? What crimes have they committed?"
"Quite a few. They are on the run and my team was tasked with capturing them and bringing them in. Tell me, what is your affiliation with them?" He knew that the best lies are short and to the point. Don't give too much detail, but enough to get your point across then change the subject or distract them.
"We had met just recently, they needed a place to stay and I have a spare bedroom so I had offered it to them. But may I ask, do you know them personally?"
The question caught Sebastian off guard. The small man was just told that the people who had been bunking with him were criminals and he didn't look scared at all.
"No. But I don't need too. They're dangerous and it is my-"
Kai raised his hand up to the alpha's face, stopping him mid-sentence, "Well, I know them. I know their names, their likes, dislikes, and the struggles they've been through. They were my guests and had been nothing but kind and courteous.
You, on the other hand, are being quite rude. Lying to me. I know that those men have committed no crimes and I know you have no real interest in "questioning" them in the way you would like me to believe." Kai bit back a sneer of disgust, thinking about what their ideas of "questioning" would entail.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, but you simply don't know them as well as you thought. I know what they are and they need to be captured before they have a chance to hurt anyone."
He took a deep breath to reel in his anger and continued, "I am aware that you believe you know what they are but you have not the slightest clue of who they are."
Sebastian's eye twitched. They were rogues. Dangerous werewolves who lost their sense of humanity and enjoyed causing mayhem and destruction to packs. He was also angry that his mate was taking the side of those filthy creatures instead of believing him. Granted what his mate had said was spot on, but that was beside the point. He also hadn't forgotten that the rogues smelled like they had been rolling all over his mate.
Kai rolled his eyes at the anger that vas very evident in the alpha's eyes. He looked to the beta, "May I ask what pack this is?"
James was taken back for a moment, wondering how the human knew that they were werewolves and for his lack of fear, completely ignoring his seething alpha. "This is The Saddow Pack."
"Those fucking rogues revealed themselves to a damn human!?"
The young man snapped his head back towards Sebastian as if he had heard what he said in the link. They were very sure that the statement had only been shared in their minds but now they were doubting it.
"Just because they are not apart of your pack does not mean that you have the right to punish them just because you say it so. This is no way to lead and I will wait until you have given me a judicious reason as to why you would even think of taking those innocent men into custody." Kai said getting irritated.
"Damn, he's got you there." Sebastian turned to glare at his beta. James rolled his eyes and turned away.
"Well? I'm waiting, Alpha."
Sebastian let out a huff and turned back to his mate, "You don't understand, they're rogues. They are dangerous crea-"
Kai cut him off again. He knew he was being rude but he couldn't stop himself. He couldn't stand the thought of his mate speaking ill of their own kind and he was starting to get mad, "No, they are werewolves. Kicked out of their pack for an unjust reason!"
Kai took another breath to calm himself down. If he let his emotions get the better of him then they wouldn't see his reasoning or accept anything other than what they were taught. Kai had given this speech more times than he ever wished.
"The label "rogue" does not define a wolf nor should they be immediately categorized as evil and vile creatures. Just because some werewolves have lost their way or have become more animal than man does not make them any less worthy of compassion.
Packs who degrade rouges to nothing more than "evil creatures" help nothing. Them only ever being treated with nothing but hostility and anger only pushes them into becoming the "monsters" you have made them out to be.
Evil does not reside in only one race or group. Pride and privilege can easily become just as dangerous and destructive as you believe rogues to be. I have seen it too many times, the fault of so much pain. But it is always ignored or given the benefit of the doubt simply because that person is held in high regard or because of their status.
You know nothing about them or what they have gone through, and yet, you are ready to decide their fate. Why do they deserve to be punished by someone who knows not of their hardships? Why do they not deserve the chance at redemption or to even be heard?
My friends had never crossed into your territory and they left peacefully. That should be enough of a reason to leave them be. Please, stop the prejudice, there's no need for this." he said as he gestured towards all of the manpower Sebastian had brought.
Everything was silent as they took in what had been said. Sebastian was again at a loss for words, His wolf, on the other hand, was puffing out his chest in pride toward his mate. A clearing of the throat caught his and everyone's attention.
"Alpha," Tom, his best tracker said quietly, not liking all of the attention turned to him and what he had to say, especially now after what they had all been lectured on. "There's no sight of the ro- uh, werewolves anywhere. Their scents stop dead in its tracks about a mile from here."
Sebastian glanced towards his mate and saw that his expression wasn't shocked or relieved at the news, instead, he just smiled at Tom's confused and slightly shaking form.
"Right! Well," Kai exclaimed clapping his hands together, "Now that you have all returned and will hopefully take my words into consideration, allow me to properly introduce myself!
My name is Kai."
