Once I had gotten to the assembly room, I saw that everybody that is already inside left their bags outside of the assembly room. So I did the same, and set my backpack down, and walked into the assembly room.
Then I walked into the assembly room, I looked around to find an empty seat.
While I was looking around, I noticed that Jake was already in the assembly room. And luckily, there was an open seat to his right.
I then walked over to where he was sitting and sat down right next to him.
"Hi, Maddy," Jake said. "I wonder what they would be saying in the assembly today."
"Well, I remember my homeroom teacher saying that we will learn about the different clubs that there are in the assembly," I said. "I hope that there is a book club, or a music appreciation club."
"Cool," Jake said. "I would probably want to do the music appreciation club as well because I enjoy playing my guitar."
We then talked some more while we waited for the assembly to start.
Five minutes had passed, and then a teacher finally walked up to the front of the room, grabbed a microphone, and said,
"Hello, Middle School." The teacher said. "Welcome to the first assembly of the year."
"There will be multiple things that I will be telling you all about so that if you are new, you would be able to understand more about the after school clubs and the schedule. Because it could seem pretty confusing some times."
Then the teacher added,
"There will be three classes before lunch, and two after lunch."
"On the schedule, the days are counted as day one, day two, day three, day four, and day five. Today is day one, which is the day that we have an assembly after the first class that is after lunch.
"There are also multiple after school clubs that you all can sign up for. Some of them are free," The teacher said. "But with the sports clubs, you would have to pay some money to attend."
'Huh,' I thought. 'I probably won't be doing the sports clubs anyways. Especially if I would have to pay the fee, with my allowance money.'
"Your homeroom teachers will pass out the packets with all of the information on the after school clubs tomorrow." The teacher said. "Clubs are not mandatory to attend, they are only optional. You would have to have your parents sign a form for the sports clubs, and at least know if you are staying after school for the other ones."
The teacher then kept talking about more things about the school, and the school rules, so that new people to the school would not get confused, and the people that have been here for a while don't forget.
Once the assembly had ended, everybody filed out of the assembly room. I walked out, and grabbed my backpack, and waited for Jake, because when the assembly was starting to end, he passed me a note, and it said,
"Let me give you my number after the assembly."
It took a little bit for Jake to come out because there are a lot of people in middle school at this school.
And when he did come out, we quickly exchanged our phone numbers and then went our separate ways to get home.
I first went to my locker so that I could get some of my notebooks so that I could do some work for fun so that I would be familiar with the work that I would be doing in class.
I also made sure that I grabbed my ukulele so that I could find a song online that I could do for my solo at the school concert.
Once I had made sure that I had all of the things that I would need, I closed my locker, locked it, and started walking home.
