Parks hold a special place in my heart.
The cold hugs me tightly tonight.
Why did I come here? December is the coldest month of the year.
Christmas.
I have no one to celebrate Christmas with now.
Christmas was decent with mom. We would drink hot chocolate and watch Christmas specials on TV. She never spat a single belittle at me. I lived for those moments.
"I thought I told you to fix your hair."
Hearing his voice makes me feel less alone.
"It's 10 minutes past midnight. Why are you at a park?" He walks up from behind me and sits next to me on the park bench.
I ignore him and pull my suitcase closer to my feet.
Aron's eyebrows furrow. "Running away? Did Mommy Dearest make you throw some sort of hissy fit?" He chuckles.
"I was disowned. I have no where to go. No friends. No immediate family. I'm a spoiled brat who has lived her whole life in a mansion. Now... I'm dirt poor. You can just leave me alone now. I'm worthless to you. I'm not angry anymore. I'm just sad." My voice is as dead as my life.
We both stay quiet for a moment.
"Look. I don't know how to be... sympathetic. Not in my nature, so I'm not gonna try. However, I do know that rage doesn't go away. I don't go away. You can bury that anger and ignore it, but while you're feeling other emotions, that anger boils... it boils like a volcano. Every volcano has to erupt at least once, Trish."
"Not my name." I remind with a hint of sass. I still don't look at him directly.
"Trish is a nickname. Don't worry, it's sexier than Patricia. You'll thank me later." I can't tell if he's joking or not. He didn't laugh or grin.
"Right. Because a nickname will make me sexier. That makes so much sense." Sarcasm drips off my lips.
That's enough to make him chuckle. "Pretty and blind. Do you even know what flirting is?"
I laugh. "That's your funniest joke, yet."
"Do I look like a fucking comedian?" His eyes flash red for a split second.
I mumble. "No."
Aron takes a deep breath. "I'm flirting with you."
"Really? Could have fooled me." I sigh. "Why? Why are you flirting with me? I doubt demons can even feel attraction towards other demons, let alone humans. Evil doesn't have a heart, right?"
"You don't get asked out often, do you? I mean, this is a date. I literally told you to fix your hair up. I made it obvious. I didn't have to do this at all." He runs his fingers through his hair. "Luckily, I know you. All you need is to let your anger out. Then we can have serious fun."
I look towards him and shrug. "Sure. Why the hell not?"
Deep down inside I'm actually dying of excitement. So, he was asking me out earlier today. I just brushed it off. This kind of changes everything. Why would a demon, a Deadly Sin, be interested in me? I understand that I'm here to let him feed off my anger, but why make this a relationship thing? I'm not complaining though. Aron, or whatever his demon name is, is an image of art. His face is... there are no words. I'm actually aching to meet the man being possessed at the moment.
"Trish? I'm just gonna let you know that I can hear you." He grins.
I can feel myself blush. I never blush. What is happening? I do not blush!
"Well, you do now." He smirks. "C'mon. Let's go vandalize your mom's house. That should make you feel better. Plus, I need more anger from you. I'm starving."
He thinks he's starving? I haven't eaten anything since I got home today. I can't eat shit for a while. Unless... Aron wants to buy me something to eat? Please?
"After we vandalize. Aren't you pissed that she kicked you out the house and disowned you? She's your mom! She should be taking care of you! She should be trying to help you! That's sick. And she calls herself a holy woman? Fuck, if she's holy than I'm Jesus. Doesn't that make you mad? She called you the devil's child. Who says that to their only child? She deserves hell to rain on her. You deserve to get even. Don't think, let your rage guide you."
His words are enough to fuel my anger. He's right. That witch doesn't deserve shit. I'll destroy everything she holds dear. I'll break her favorite flat screen, pop the tires on all 28 cars, burn all the cash in the safe, and I'll steal all her jewelry and sell it so I have money for food. In fact, I'll sell everything gold in the house. She's nothing without her money.
Aron must be enjoying my thoughts because he's smiling wickedly.
