I fully expected us to have sex last night, but that didn't happen. Jackson nicely tucked me into the bed cuddling against me. I was mildly disappointed that he didn't have sex with me. When I woke up this morning he was tucked against me still, which was rare. He mumbled something about having a day off when I pulled myself from him. I was glad he had a day off to spend with Rosie, she was needing some time with her daddy. Lately, she only saw him when he came home for lunch and dinner. I didn't have the same luxury as he did. I didn't have today off, instead, I had a meeting with the doctor that had his office by mine, for the first time. I had heard a lot about him but never once did we bump into each other or even pass each other in the halls. It was odd.
The house was particularly cold today. Dressing in slacks and a plain black t-shirt I grabbed my black, grey and white cardigan to top off my outfit and keep me warm. The walk my office seemed normal now. I had no appointments that were scheduled, and anyone I had would be walk-ins. It was about ten-thirty in the morning and after this meeting, I was pretty sure I would call it a day and go right back to Jackson's bed. Getting to my office door it was open and the light was on, Carefully opening the door a larger man turned, A book off my shelf in his hand.
"I hope you don't mind that I let myself in the door was open."
"My door is always open unless im with a patient."
"I will remember that."
He slid the book back in the bookshelf in the wrong spot and I wondered if was a deliberate attempt to see what issues I myself had. Cleary he could see that all the books were in alphabetical order, not because I couldn't have them in random order, it was easier to find what I was looking for. It was also slightly pleasant to my brain.
"So, Dr.? What did you major in?"
"Kingsley, Dr. Caleb Kingsley, I studied a lot of different medical backgrounds, These days im just a general surgeon."
"Ah, I was a basic medical student on a fast track to being a family doctor before I switched to being a doctor of Psychiatry. Dr. Zev Martin."
I held my hand out for him to shake. He took my hand in his very massive hand, he was at least six foot five and built like a wall. There was a trend I was starting to see here. All the men were well fit and built like walls.
"I hear you're treating Alexi, How is that going?"
"Alexi is making progress."
"That's great. I've tried to prescribe him medications to help him before, but he refused."
"I didn't give him a choice, When he has a better handle on his situation then we can look at no medication treatment plans."
"Your quite highly spoken of in your field."
"I've worked hard to put my patients first."
"Must have been hard for you to have to refer all your patients and go private for Maddox."
"At first, I was justing going to rebuild my office and go back to work but that plan changed when it wasn't safe for that. Involving innocent people in my choice to treat Maddox and the other members of the family left a poor taste in my mouth. So, when he offered the chance to treat the members of family in my own office privately, I took it. I love my job more than anything and I enjoy healing the mind and watching how it ticks."
"I was much the same way, only Maddox's father offered me my position, I was still a resident when he offered me the position. After I got my full licence, I came to work here."
"You don't seem very old, in your early thirties?"
"Oh, God no, Im in my late thirties, Thirty-eight to be exact."
"I'm only thirty this year."
"Still a spring chicken, Dr. Martin."
"Sometimes I don't feel that way," I said laughing.
Alexi came bolting down the hall. Since the door was still open both Dr.Kingsley and I say him run by. It was hard not to miss the blood clinging to his fingers.
"Dr. Kingsley!" Alexi's voice was slightly panicked. Both of us went to find Alexi.
"Alexi breathe, whats going on."
"Creed. He hurt himself. There's so much blood."
The three of us took off, Following Alexi, he took us to the backyard, the part they trained in that wasn't fenced in. There were Maddox and Creed. The spike sticking up out of Creed's foot was nasty, Alexi wasn't wrong however, there was a lot of blood.
"What the hell happened?" I asked looking at Maddox.
"We were building this, and he didn't listen when I told him not to step on the tree stakes."
Looking up where Maddox was pointing was a platform, They were building a treehouse of sorts. I didn't expect the thing that happened next. Dr.Kingsley left and came back with a bunch of supplies. I watched as Alexi covered his eyes but i didn't get the hint. Dr. Kingsley gave Creed a needle and Maddox gave him his hand and I thought they were going to pull him up. But when Dr.Kingsley pulled that Giant nail out of his foot causing blood to literally spray I found myself pretty close to passing out. The thing that did me in was when Creed lifted his foot and I was seeing clean through the hole in his fucking foot. My world started to spin and the last thing I heard was Maddox yell "Man Down."
- - - - - - - -
The light that was very rudely shinned into my eyes got swatted the fuck away as I sat up. My head was still swimming as I thought about the hole in Creed's fucking foot.
"Dr.Martin, You passed out at the best point, You didn't even get to see Creed measure the size of the hole in his foot," Dr.Kingsley said laughing.
I was gagging then. I had seen a lot of things in my years but nothing like that. That was just fucking gross.
"Where am I?"
"My office, Maddox brought you here as soon as you went down."
"How long?"
"About an hour and a bit, You were still out so I wanted to make sure you didn't have any brain damage."
"Did you find any?"
"None that im qualified to treat."
"Sounds about normal then," I said laughing.
Jackson threw the door open his eyes showing some concern when he entered the room.
"Maddox said you passed out?"
"I'm ok."
"The good doctor isn't one for blood and gore it seems." Doctor Kingsley said laughing.
