"Lydia. I want you to keep an eye on this new boy at your school." Those words are haunting me because I still haven't told father the told about what happened with Kip and Ren last weekend good thing he's away on another task."
As I walk down the hallway, I notice that Kip and Ren were standing near my locker, both trying to speak at the same time. They notice me. "Hey Danny!" Kip said waving. "Good Morning Danny." Ren said.
Making a mental note for later that they have grown closer over the weekend, I reply "Morning you two."
I open my locker taking out my books for the first three periods.
"Please tell you did your math homework!'" Kip asks.
"Your kidding me right?" I reply.
"No, I completely forgot." She replies with puppy dog eyes.
"Fine just give it back before fourth period." I demand.
"Thanks, Danny! she hugs me before running off to homeroom leaving me alone with Ren.
"That was awkward she not usually a hug person."
I decided to break the tension between us by trying to bait him into talking about the past weekend.
"Thank you, for taking care of Kip when I wasn't there." I say.
"You're welcome. It was no problem" He says smiling and blushing.
The bell rings for homeroom.
"See you later." I say.
"Later." he replied walking in the other direction.
"Something definitely happened." I thought.
The classes went on as usual boring and dull. I was looking forward to lunch when I could try to get Kip to talk which was much easier than Ren.
I go to out the door but I run into none other Ren, "Hey Danny did you happen to see a grey notebook in here?"
"No, I didn't." "Check the lost and found at the front desk." I reply coldly.
I walk pass him, looking him straight into eyes as I walk by.
I grab my books for my last three classes, make my way to the cafeteria. I spot Kip among the crowd, waving her down. She saves the spot until I get lunch from the lunch ladies. Out of line with food in hand I make my way to where Kip is when I spot Ren next to her.
"Damn."
I sit down between them, both went quiet. I had to break the silence again.
"Kip do you feel better after the weekend?"
She took a second to answer, fidgeting a bit. If I had to take a guess it was because of staying at Ren's house.
"I'm fine. Thanks for asking." she said as in between biting her sandwich.
"How was Ren's house? Spill it." I ask leaning in close to her.
Kip almost drops her food on the floor. She blushes. I notice her face also shows pity. Maybe.
Ren looks over concerned.
"Is everything okay?" He asks.
"Just girl talk." I reply.
He nods his head and gets up to get food.
"It was just normal, I swear." Kip pleads.
"Are you sure that blush doesn't say normal." I shot back.
"He just walked me home, because it was too awkward staying at a boy's house." She replies rubbing her hand.
"She's lying."
Trying not to give myself away I reply "How like you girl. You need to get some confidence."
"What do mean?" she asked looking confused.
"Its nothing just teasing you." "Do you have my math notebook by any chance?"
"Yeah here you go." She hands me notebook.
Ren comes back and the silence continues with us eating, the bell rings.
The last classes drag threw, I loathe that they drag but I am still not looking forward to giving my father my report from last weekend.
After the last class is over my phone's ringer goes off, opening it. It is my father, picking it up as I get my books for homework.
"Hello Lydia, I hope everything has gone well."
"It has father."
"Good. I am looking forward to your report when you get home."
"Yes father."
He hung up.
I close my phone, grab my backpack with my books in it, and turn around to see Kip and Ren in the crowd.
Kip sees me and waves. "See you tomorrow! she yells.
"See ya tomorrow!" I yell back.
