When Jacob woke up he was in his parent's bed, the creature was standing by the wall, but walked over when it saw that he was awake, it sat down on the bed next to him.
"Good morning." It said, sounding slightly worried. "Did you sleep well?" He asked.
"Y-yes."Jacob said, yawning." I did."
"Listen, Jacob...I have something to tell you." The Wendigo said.
"W-what is it?" Jacob asked.
"Listen, Jacob." The creature said. "I don't want to have to tell you this but I have to." The creature said.
"I'm sorry to tell you this but police found your parent's remains at the bottom of a gorge and will probably be coming to try to find you." He said.
"W-wait what d-do you mean my p-parent's remains?" Jacob asked afraid of what the answer might be.
The Creature sighed. "Jacob." It whispered. "I'm sorry, that man that broke in yesterday...well before he came here he killed them." The creature whispered.
Jacob hugged the creature crying.
"Hey, come here." The creature said picking Jacob up and setting him on his lap, cuddling, and nuzzling him. He held him close as Jacob cried, the creature let him do so for a few minutes, before speaking again.
"Jacob." He said. "I know you're upset and scared, but trust me when I tell you no one will hurt you."
"O-ok." Jacob sniffed, with tears in his eye's.
"Hey." The creature said, lifting Jacob's chin with one of his claws claw. "It's going to be alright no one will hurt you." the Wendigo said. "And if they do..." The Wendigo said, looking at Jacob. "I'll kill them." he said. He could tell that that had scared Jacob, and started comforting him again. "I'm sorry." He said rocking back and fourth, while holding Jacob so that he was curled in a ball around him.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that...but really, I will protect you at all costs." The creature whispered.
Jacob pressed his head to the creature's chest.
"Jacob." The creature said, after about an hour.
"What?" Jacob asked.
"Police will be here soon, and I'll have to leave." He said, picking Jacob up and sitting him down on the bed before getting up and started walking towards the door. The creature was stopped at the door by Jacob pulling on his arm.
"Yes?" The creature asked, turning and crouching down.
"Can't you take me with you?" he asked.
"I wish I could." the creature said rustling Jacob's hair. "But if you were missing things would be worse." He explained..
"P-please don't leave me." Jacob begged, starting to tear up again.
The creature pulled Jacob to him and held him close.
"Listen, I don't want to have to leave you, I really don't, but I have to, I'm sorry, but before I leave I need to tell you something."
"What is it?" Jacob asked.
"No matter what police ask you, don't say anything about me." He said.
The creature softly kissed him on the head, and then it was gone.
