Walking into his room a chill goes down her spine. A small lamp clicks on, giving light for a person's shadow. Danny sees father's shadow shift towards her.
"Lydia. Your report." He says with a growl.
Danny steadies herself before she answers. "Yes, father."
"What have I learned from keeping tabs on the new student?" He asks feeling his shadow’s red eyes burrowing into my soul.
"His name is Ren Ion, and he lives with his father who is rarely home." Danny replies trying to keep herself from crumbling under her father’s shadow’s glaze.
"He seems to have a friendship maybe something deeper with Kippy Blaze, a classmate at school. Danny continued trying to maintain eye contact.
"I feel bad tailing them, when they left the party and leaving Kip to keep tabs on them, but I didn't have a choice." Danny thought, noticing the shadow flickering in the light.
"However his father is harder to track, I listened into their conversation."
“Using Kippy’s shadow.” She thought.
"I have learned two things. First, his father and him don't seem on the best of terms."
"Second, judging by their fight about having Kippy Blaze in their house, his father isn't human. But sadly, I cannot confirm what kind of monster he is, just by their conversation either. I can only confirm that his father is a loner type of monster." Danny continues a little out of breath.
"Enough about the boy. Go on about the girl. Your friend." Her father demanded.
Her heart starts to pound as his shadow grows in the light.
"As you know I have been keeping tight tabs since we met." I have new information since this party."
"At the Halloween party last week, we bumped into Ren. I regretfully lost them in the crowd. That's when I found Kippy Blaze with Ren Ion."
"Kippy Blaze had fainted and had Ren Ion pinned against the brick wall."
"I had Ion carried her back to his house since it was close and to keep tabs on him."
"I couldn't keep tabs on Kippy Blaze after the Ion’s family conversation, it is just an assumption, but I think Ion had a role to play into Kippy Blaze's fainting and I am keeping better tabs on him."
"I end my report sir." Her heart’s pounding gets louder.
His shadow returned to human shape, but she could tell even in the faint light his body wasn't completely human. The chill came again.
"It sounds like quite the night; you got the information I wanted on the boy." "But play favorites and you won't see your mother anytime soon." Her father continued his shadow growing smaller.
"Yes, sir. I will remember that!" Danny replied as the door opened, and the light went out.
As dawn begins to break all the stress begins to fade as she finally falls asleep in her bed.
That night is had a dream about reading a book with her mother. Instead of the nightmare of her father’s shadow taking her mother.
