It was 6 AM.
Sui woke up in confusion. This was weird. Did he sleep early last night? He tried to sleep again, but it was futile. So, he got off his bed, came down to the dining table. His family looked at him, shocked. They asked him was he really their son? Not possessed by a ghost of diligent student? He told them to shut up, then drank his milk.
He felt like cleaning the toilet that day and he did. His family were shocked so much they could faint. Seeing their family only son behaved so good that day, they were so happy and they praised him a lot. Feeling the mood was good, Sui took a chance and asked them, if this good son of yours were gay, you guys would still love me, right?
The mood suddenly turned sour and Sui regretted his decision so much. He quickly took his bad and got out of the house.
It was too early. He just called his friend next door, Tompol, but his parents told him that he was still asleep. Sui had to go to school alone that day.
He passed a post office. How nice it would be, if they could deliver a letter from the heaven? Sui thought. Sui had always been fascinated by letters. He felt that people weren’t always honest with what they’ve spoken. It was different with written words. They could be honest and careful with their words, they could always write and write, rewrite and rewrite, until they found a perfect word. The person who they sent the letter could always keep the letter, read it again and again. It was a treasure.
Sui thought, if he would die someday, he would write a letter to his family.
And he would too, write one to him to the senior he had always love.
When he arrived at the school, it was only 7 AM. Yet, the diligent students arrived even earlier. In his class, they stared at him. This fortune teller, why is he early today? Will something happen if he comes like usual today?
The boy who sat in front of him, Kempi, immediately turned to face him. “What happened with you?? Is today going to rain??”
Sui stared at him. “Woke up early,” he said. “Today is going to be hot all day, didn’t I tell you yesterday?”
Kempi laughed. “I know, I know. I never doubted you! Wait, wait! Don’t look at me! I don’t want to know what she will answer. I’ll try my best either way.”
Today, he would finally confess to the girl he loved. He even asked Sui beforehand about the good day to confess.
Sui smiled. “I won’t! Good luck, boy!” He punched Kempi’s shoulder.
When Sui looked at someone eyes, he couldn’t control his power. As a result, he would automatically looked into their future. He could access how their future would unfold later that day, the day after, or even a year after. Their futures would be seen by Sui like a movie trailer; fast, sometimes clear and sometimes not. He could always look at them far into the future.
But, this time, he couldn’t. He couldn’t look past today’s future. Earlier, he could only see Kempi’s future up until 6 PM. He couldn’t see further. Why?
He tried looking at other people. It was the same result. He couldn’t find out their future tomorrow, or even further. He froze. Why? Was something going to happen to every people tomorrow? Or was the problem lie in him? He tried to figure out his own future.
But, he couldn’t find anything. It was blurred. It was dark, suffocating and painful. Then something took shape. It was like a black hole. He saw that he reached for someone, but that person had been sucked in.
Sui came back. He was drenched in sweat. What was that? What was that hole? Who was that person? Would he die? Was everyone going to die today, so he couldn’t see everyone’s future?
But, he still could see Kempi’s future till 6 PM, so he would be fine until 6 PM. What would happen after that??
The weird thing was, he didn’t remember seeing himself being sucked. The person was. What exactly was that hole? Who was that person? Sui couldn’t think about anything. He still could see Kempi’s future before 6 PM, but he couldn’t see the exact time of his future. It was weird.
He wandered and wandered. Till he arrived at a place he always visited at Tuesday, 8 AM. Sui squatted behind the corridor’s walls. He always did this, waited for a certain person to pass by, watching him, admiring him. He was too nervous to pretend to pass by this corridor too and face him, so Sui hide himself instead. It was cowardly, yes, he was a coward. It didn't matter.
KLAK! KLAK! KLAK!
Sui froze. It was 7:30 AM. Who walked through here?? This was an old corridor. Since the school had made another short passageway, rarely people came walk through here, except his senior. But, Sui quickly calm himself. It didn’t matter. Everyone was allowed to pass this way. It didn't like this corridor was the property of his senior and him.
He decided to lower his head until 8 AM, the exact time senior would pass by.
“Sui Shizi.”
A familiar, heavy voice startled him. This isn’t… senior’s voice, is it? Because this kind of heavy voice would never called that name so he kinda doubted it.
“What are you doing there?”
Sui slowly turned his head. There was a tall, wild-haired guy, stood facing him. His good looking face looked really gentle, something really strange. Was this the same person? The best fighter Xuyun should be more… fierce?
With trembling legs, Sui stood up. “S-Senior, are you talking to me…?”
“Sui Shizi, special class grade 4-3. Is that right?”
Senior knew me?? Senior knew me! “Yes!”
A few moments later, senior didn’t say anything. Sui grew nervous. He knew me, but in a good or bad way? Maybe he wants to punish me because I’m too weak as a man? Maybe he wants me to predict his future? It would be a relief if it was the latter! Ah! But I can’t see the future right now!
But, what came up was,
“I like you, Sui Shizi.”
Sui was so occupied by his own thoughts that it took him a moment to realize that his senior had said something. “What…?”
His hands was sweaty when he saw his senior walked toward him. He wanted to walk away, but Xuyun caught his shoulder and leaned onto him. He whispered, “I like you, Sui Shizi. Do you like me too?”
Sui froze. His heart instead, kept thumping non-stop. He looked at Xuyun, straight into his eyes. Then, series of movie trailer flowed into his head. A movie about his senior’s future.
He saw his senior got sucked into a black hole. It absorbed his every parts, then closed. It disappeared. Along with his senior. It was exactly a vision like he saw in his own future.
Sui’s face turned pale. It was him! It was his senior that he had seen in his future! He would die because of the black hole today!
When? Was it at 6 PM? Sui couldn’t figure that out. Sui couldn’t see anything from Xuyun except the black hole. It was weird. There were a lot of thing that didn’t make sense that day. First, he couldn’t see the future before and after 6 PM, it was the same as senior’s; he couldn’t figure out the exact time the hole would came out.
Third, the senior he had always like, confessed to him just now.
Fourth, his own future he had seen. He tried to reach for senior’s hand, but failed.
Sui sweated a lot. Was this all connected? What if senior’s decision to confess to him caused him to get killed? But what exactly was that power? A black hole? He never seen that before. Then, would this black hole did something to everyone so that was why he couldn’t see anything beyond 6 PM? Then, would senior really going to die at 6 PM? But, he couldn’t see his future as well, did that mean everyone here would die at 6 PM? Was the apocalypse really coming??
His thought kept popping up one after another, until he felt something grabbed his hands. It was warm. “Sui?”
Sui lifted his head. His face was still pale. “Senior…”
Xuyun hesitantly asked, “am I troubling you?”
Sui was stunned. He quickly shook his head. “No, no!” He suddenly remembered what did senior said to him. ‘I like you, Sui Shizi. Do you like me too?’
He blushed and said quickly, “I like you too, senior!”
Xuyun smiled. “Let’s date?”
The boy froze. What is this situation?? The senior I had always admire, confessed to me first! Asked me to date first! What is this plot twist?? He even smiled at me! This guy people called War God, can actually smile??
He felt like fainting.
But again, thought of his senior dying made him tensed. “Senior.. actually..”
Actually, I saw you got sucked into a black hole in the future. Would he believe that? Or, would he smile and continue to do his activities just like the fighter in colosseum back then? Would senior believe a future prediction anyway?
If he really told Xuyun the truth, what could he do to prevent that from happening? Sui knew how strict the rule more than anyone. He knew that everything he had seen would become a real thing. Death was definite. But, he couldn't see senior’s time of death. Was it a clue? But then, why everyone’s future stopped at 6 PM?
“Actually, what?”
“Ah, that’s…” Sui paused. “Actually I don't understand why you could like people like me…”
That was a truth. He was weak, had social issues, and…. he was a cowardly stalker.
He was predicting answers like, ‘I like your face’, or ‘I was fascinated by your ability’, since his good points were only his baby face and power. But he didn’t predict something like a hug.
Xuyun hugged him.
His breathe kissed Sui’s ear. “I don’t know either. Sui Shizi, you tell me.”
His ears felt hot, yet Sui’s body stiffed. His breathes stopped, yet his chest playing drums, making him felt embarrassed. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
His hug felt so comfortable.
Senior, whoever got to accompany you for the rest of their life must be a fortunate person. His eyes felt hot and hotter while he returned the hug. “Senior, you must be possessed. Even if I like you, I never approach you before, and I never see you noticed me before.”
“Well, let’s say that I have known you in your past lives. We have dated in our past lives.”
Sui stunned. He chuckled, “you remember your past live?”
Xuyun hummed.
Sui laughed. Is that for real? Past live?? But, it came from senior’s mouth. It might not be a joke. But, Sui couldn’t help but laugh. If the past life could help him date senior, why not believe it?
“What were we doing in the past? For date? Do we stay together for a long time?”
Xuyun smiled. “We stayed together until the end. And we skipped classes every day.”
“Ah, that’s why in this lifetime, I never skip class before. I still felt guilty.”
“Want to do it now?”
Sui was about to say, “yes! Lets!” before the terrifying images flashed again. He immediately grabbed Xuyun’s arm. “Don’t go anywhere,” he said.
Xuyun stared at him. Why was he looked so worried today? “I’m not going anywhere. I’m with you.”
Sui didn’t say anything besides staring at him. “What’s wrong?” Xuyun asked.
“Senior…” Sui said. “What would you do if today is you last day living?” This day might be your last day. Sui hesitated, but because it was the only thing he could peek at Xuyun’s future, he could just assumed that it would happen soon. It was really painful for him to ask this kind of question. But, he couldn’t do anything to prevent that to happen. He had tried back then, when he tried to save his best friend from death. It didn’t work. His best friend died from even more cruel way than what he saw in his vision.
Since then, he had given up. Every human must die eventually. Our time on earth were just a transit station instead of destination. So, he tried to get used to death. He tried not to get too attached to life. To people. But, this time, he would got hurt again.
Because, he couldn’t help falling in love with this guy. He made him want to try again what he had given up, to defy the life’s rules. Made him want to shout again at the sky, ‘you think you can take our lives as you please??’
He wanted to live a little longer with people he loved. But if he couldn’t, at least he could make this guy happy by fulfilling his last wish.
Xuyun looked at his face stunned from his question. They stared at each other. Then, Xuyun opened his mouth, “why do you ask that?”
Was his question a little weird? He must have gotten suspicious? Sui quickly laughed it off. “Just asking! I watched an interesting movie last night and wanted to watch together with you after this!”
Xuyun fell silent for awhile, then he smiled.
“Me? If today is my last day, I would definitely confess to the person I like,” he said, while looking at Sui, then smiled gently.
This plans… Wasn’t it the thing you just did to me just now? “Senior… you confess to me..”
Did this mean… you knew that today is your last day?
Xuyun smiled. He didn’t say anything. But Sui grew more and more restless.
“Senior! What do you mean? Are you going to die on me?” Sui’s face turning pale. He asked this question, to know if Xuyun really knew about the future.
“And I wanted to go date to beautiful places too.” Xuyun didn’t answer his question. He thought Sui would pout and start cursing him, but he fell silent instead. He saw tears flowing into his cheeks. Xuyun immediately felt something wasn’t right.
“Hey, sorry, it was a joke,” Xuyun consoled him. “I won’t die that easily.” He wiped Sui’s tears. What are you crying about? I’m not going to die, and while I’m with you, you’re not going to die either.
“I saw it,” Sui said.
“Saw what?”
Still sobbing, Sui looked at him straight in the eye. “Senior, something will happen to you. I saw you got sucked by a black hole…” Senior must have known. That’s why he confessed today. That’s why he looked so different today. Sui didn’t know how Xuyun knew about it. Maybe it was true that he came from the past? Did something similar happened in the past? Did senior got chased by that hole?
“I got sucked by a black hole?”
Sui nodded.
Xuyun fell silent for awhile. “What about you?” he asked.
Sui didn’t understand. “Me…?”
“Will you be okay?”
Will I be okay? Of course not! Of course not!
“Of course not! Huwaa… huwaa!!” Sui cried. “How can I be okay when you’re not?? I don’t understand! Why are you so calm? How long have you known about this? Senior, tell me everything!”
But Xuyun didn’t say anything and got up instead. He gently pulled Sui’s wrist and hold his hand. “I’ll tell you everything on the way. Now, let’s make this day memorable,” he smiled.
Sui didn’t understand everything. He was scared. So, he walked close to Xuyun, grabbed his arms tightly with his both hands.
Xuyun brought him into the school parking lot. He placed a helmet on Sui’s head, the put one on himself. They got up on the motorcycle and exited the school, ignoring the gatekeeper who tried to remind them of the school rules.
Sui didn’t know where they were going, he didn’t ask either. He just kept holding on Xuyun’s waist, his head lie on Xuyun’s back. He was scared that his senior might just disappear if he let him loose.
