Elina stared at Neto wondering if she should really draw her dagger in such a public setting..
He had asked her if she had used it and though the answer was yes she wondered just what that fact had to do with where she got her powers from.
She raised her hands to her neck and untied her choker, placing it on the table with great care. She swiped her hand over it's velvet surface watching as it turned into a black steel while the golden chain turned into a golden handle adorned in deep red rubies.
"There it is," she glanced to the people in the coffee shop, making sure no one saw the incredible feat. (Well even if they did most would just assume she was practicing some elaborate magic trick.) "My nineteenth birthday gift from you."
He grabbed the gold handle and carefully inspected it. "Did I give this to you?"
"Yes." she said watching as his gleaming eyes caught the sparkle of the curved daggers.
"Hmm." he said strangely confused.
He settled it down hiding his confusion. "And how many wisp have you killed this year?"
She looked up trying to remember the two beast she had reluctantly stabbed since Neto had visited a year prior. The first was when she was at school and one of the wisp happened to engage in conversation with her. A wisp that could talk was extremely rare Neto had once told her when she was fifteen and if she were to come across one it would most likely be lethal. She had to stab that one for trying to tackle her down and steal her choker. The second was when she saved that student from jumping from the top floor of the apartment.
"Two," she answered.
Neto nodded in approval. "And did you dispose of them how I taught you."
"Yes," she nodded.
Neto smiled as if she had just offered to buy him dinner. "Great."
He carefully unscrewed the blade from the handle and lifted up his own black sack. She had seen the sack a thousand times and knew he collected the remains of the wisp so that the other wisp would not consume it and grow in strength. What she still wondered was where did it all go and just what was truly Neto's job. Not mention who gave him the job.
