From morning to evening, Eugene’s least favorite part of the day came too soon.
“Eugene, I’ve brought you one cup of water.”
“Thank you Jewel. This is much appreciated.” Eugene held her cup in the air to toast. She sets the cup on the floor as she sits on the wooden chair watching if Avery would wake up. Eugene scrutinized the room as she sat. Wondering about her own recognition. I’ve literally been sitting here for hours.“House!” Eugene shouted, “hack into Sunhald’s database.” A holographic screen appeared at the back of the wine cooler. A loading screen shows as multiple screens were moving, changing, and switching in the background. Eugene's dark brown eyes stayed dead on the target as the holographic lights reflected.
Loading page texted, “COMPLETE.” The text slowly appears and disappears like slowly catching epilepsy.
Sustaining her pupil’s position, a few seconds fly by. “Search, Avery Bay Sol,” Eugene commands.
At the same time, Eugene keeps her sights on Avery even having her limbs knotted, she remains discreet.
“Done!” The hologram texted appearing and disappearing in that repeated sequence.
“Read profile,” Eugene responds.
Highlights emerged to the screen, “Aver Bay Sol. Insurance: Sunhald. Birthday: June sixth, 1999. Personal contact: Listed… Social: 189-99999-0978. Rate: 12 out of 12. Background: listed… History: Listed… Emergency Contact(s): Listed… ”
“Emergency Contact.”
The machine goes into the contact file, “Yulin Stinc, Mom, (575) 8989 - 90. Konan Stinc, Step-father, (575) 9823 - 90. Gina ev-” The voice persists to read.
“Separate screen, free mode. Search, Yulin Stinc.” Another hologram becomes visible under Eugene’s voice.
“-ister, (890) 983-” The first screen continues reading down the list
“Separate screen, free mode. Search, Tina Sol.” Another hologram adds. The screen is still reading down the list until Eugene’s states, “read Social.” The first hologram reads aloud Avery’s Social Security numbers. “Yulin and Tina relate to Social.” The two holograms next to the first have the 3 dots on display.
“90,” the house’s voice finishes as the 2 other holograms exhibit it’s pinpointed individual.
“Exact pages, print!” A command provided papers to surface from the ceiling.
“Stapled?” The house asks Eugene whilst the other holographic displays texted the same question.
“Why ask now?” Eugene rolls her eyes. Her eyes weren’t fixated on Avery anymore. She gets up from the chair and walks towards the 3 sheets of paper to pick up. She settles them besides Avery. Without having to look back, “alert me when the human is awake. I am an exception.” She gazes at Jewel, “Keep watch and contain her here.” The lights dim as Eugene walks out. Completely dark, left with Jewels glowing akira green eyes. She proceeds to stalk Avery’s motions.
In the room, Eugene rest’s her right hand on the book shelf. Having the sunlight hit her left half. Unflinchingly standing beside the bookshelf. Concentrated on the pages full of knowledge. It’s always the same, her feet start to drag again as she walks away. Deeper in her thoughts, I just want to run again. Her hands gently hold the sides of her head. And the beat of her heart irregularly palpitated again and again. Dizzy, she almost trips. Nausea, left arm wraps around the waist. It’s my fault anyways. One shallow thump barely echos, unable to travel at free will. Eugene’s voice shrinks away as she lays stuck on the floor. I don’t mind dying now. In fact, it still wouldn't solve anything. She reaches to grab her throat, She grip’s her throat saying, “Just stop breathing,” huffing and puffing. She suddenly thinks to herself, If I would kill, this would be over with. Dying would definitely put me at peace. Away and alone, just me.
