Lara's POV
I am sinking into Kyle's eyes as he tries to figure mine behind his thick lashes. The butterflies in my stomach are dancing to complete the tingling sensation in my heart.
Kyle takes my face in his hands and suddenly Michelle's words are ringing in my head. She was suggesting that I should kiss Kyle. Her voice clouds my mind as I move my lips closer to him. All I have to do is rise myself to find his lips and be done with it.
As I am gathering my courage, Kyle takes one step ahead of me and crashes his lips onto mine without a single warning. My head is spinning. It's like the world has blessed us with the cheer sound of the carnival and the sparkling lights to brighten my day.
His lips are soft and hard as the same time as he parts them to match mine. Electric shock is running all over my palm when he pinches my chin to part my lips even wider.
I have been waiting for this since he made me weak at that dinner. I needed this. My hands are running to his hair only to feel it between my fingers. It's so soft like I have always imagined it to be. I could hear a little moan escape his throat when I tug his hair gently. Kyle pushes down his tongue down my throat then take my waist to pin my body against him.
My naughty hands can't stop the feeling to get another touch, so I move them down to his puffed chest then run them up again to grab his shirt to pull him closer to me.
He is surprised by my motion, and yet keeps crushing my lips passionately. As he runs his hands up and down on my back, they finally stop at my bottom.
I can't help, but to open my eyes when he gives it a hard squeeze. His eyes are shut tightly, but something is telling me not to close my eyes again.
I begin to wander my eyes around the perimeter because this time still counts as a daylight. People can see us pinning against each other, and we got some attentions here.
Though the sun is a little bit forgiving, I am sure its light is enough to give us a spotlight. I desperately want to pull away to avoid some gossip, bit my lips just won't listen to me. Right there, I notice something.
A blurry vision of Keith in the background is seen. He is walking with Keaton in his arms alongside Michael, his friend. He can't see us like this.
I quickly push Kyle's chest and take not one, but two step backwards. My eyes are fixated at Keith then back at Kyle again. His lips are swollen and probably mine are too. We're so out of breath, and his hair looks so messy from all of the tugging I did to him.
Kyle tries to search for something in my eyes. Something to enlighten him about my insecurity. He's trying to figure out why I stop our kissing session.
"Lara..." His hand tries to reach me.
I don't say a word and just walk out on him then I basically jog myself further and further until I am lost in the crowd. My heart still can't handle the explosion in my chest and my stomach hurts as I am trying to run away from here. I don't know where else to go, so I am running myself back to the parking lot and wait for Michelle to come.
"Are you done with the Ferris wheel?" I say to my phone.
"I just got off. Where are you?" Michelle sounds confused.
"Are you with them?"
"Lara, are you okay?"
"I am in the parking lot, will you please just come here? So, we could go?! Please?!" I am so out of breath from all the running and that good damn kissing.
"I'm coming!" She freaks out.
Thank God Michelle put her keys in my little purse since she refused to bring one for herself. I climb into the car and lock myself in it. What if Keith saw us? No, what if our neighbors saw us? They would gossip that Kyle and I shared a kiss. Oh, my god! Why did I kiss him in public?
"OH GOD!" I jump out of fear when Michelle knocks on the window.
"What happened?" She climbs into the driver's seat.
"Can we please go home?" I give her the keys.
"Yeah, but what happened?" She looks at me with so much worries.
"I'll tell you when we got home. Please?!" I plead.
"Okay. Okay." She surrenders her curiosity and drives.
The ride to her house was not long. It took only five minutes. Michelle tried to fish out some information, but I managed to keep my mouth shut. I don't want her to drive and be panic at the same time.
"Okay!" She throws her keys on the table. "Now, tell me everything!"
I take a deep breath then sit next to her, "Kyle kissed me."
"WHAT?!!!!" She jumps from the couch.
"I know!" I close my eyes.
"Bitch, how?" She sinks back into the couch.
"I don't know. We were talking, and he kissed me." My eyes are still shut.
"What were you talking about for him to kiss you?" Michelle shakes my arms in excitement.
"First, we were talking about my novel. There's this chapter where the female character ghosted the male character. And then, he said that I kind of did that to him and it made him crazy." I finally open my eyes to find hers sparkling and dying to scream.
"Oh, my god! He used your storyline to bring it up?" Michelle's voice can't really give it a break.
"Yes." I helplessly nod.
Michelle laughs, "He's been dying to ask you that. Why did you ghosted him?"
"I didn't!" I defend myself. "I was in Seattle, remember?! Then he texted me a couple times..."
"And you never replied?" Michelle cuts me off.
"I did, just not as much as he did."
"What is wrong with you? A guy that you like, texted you and you did not reply to all of them? I mean, I know you hate texting, but still... You could have called!" Michelle shoots a glare at me.
"Why would I call him? He could be not answering my phone, and I would feel bad about it. You know that!" I free myself from Michelle's eagle eyes.
"You like him that much?" Michelle gives me her iconic eye side.
"I think so, but he doesn't like me."
"Bitch, he just kissed you!" Michelle swats my arm.
"Well, we're in a Carnival. It could be just, you know a moment. Nothing more. For him. I don't know!" My heart sinks.
"He likes you, bitch!" Michelle turns on the TV. "Why do you think he said that he's crazy about you?"
I lie my head on the cushion. "He didn't say that! He said that he's been crazy because he couldn't reach me on the phone. That's all."
"Lars! He literally tried to put him in your character!" Michelle argues.
"It's not possible! We barely know each other. Besides, we've only been neighbors for less than two months." I reason with her.
"But you get excited whenever he's around." Michelle narrowed her green eyes on me.
"No." I lie.
"Okay!" Michelle hangs her hands in the air. "You're still going to meet Marco, right? Because I just texted him this morning that you two would meet tomorrow."
She excitedly grabs her phone from the table and shows me a picture of a man in a blue shirt. His cheeks are super chiseled, making his jaws perfectly line his folded chin. His brown hair is slicked back and his upper body is really getting my attention.
"His hair is a little bit longer for a teacher. You'll love it." Michelle winks at me.
"Wow! How old is he again?" I take a closer look at his picture.
"He's thirty."
"Breaking all the girls' heart, huh?!"
"Not that much, we got a bunch of other hot teachers. The P.E teacher, the history teacher, the chemistry teacher and the biology teacher." Michelle scroll her camera rolls and shows me other hunks from her school.
"Yeah, what's up with that?!"
"If Marco is no match for you, I still have many other candidates." Michelle tells me.
"Of course you do!" I roll my eyes.
Upon my agreement to the blind date thing, Michelle is now starting to show me a bunch of pictures on her phone. Nothing could stop her, she phones her husband to send her picture of his friends and colleagues.
I happily volunteer to see all of those pictures. They all are looking fine, but nothing triggers me to actually go on a date with them. I actually wanted to say that I don't want to go on a blind date with Marco, but Michelle got so excited and I didn't want to break her heart.
Michelle does not answer me, so I turn my head to her. As soon as I land my eyes on her, I could see that she is upset. She rests her head on her hand and put her infamous resting bitch face.
"Looking back to his texts?" Michelle sees right through me.
"No, I was checking on my Instagram and time. It's eleven!" I didn't entirely see Kyle's texts.
Without further due, I grab my purse on the table and walk myself to the door. Michelle is groaning, but she is willingly grabbing her car keys to drive me home.
"Ouch!" She stops her foot steps and hugs herself tightly.
"What's wrong?" I run back to her.
"My stomach! It hurts!" She is grinning out of pain.
"It must be the peanut butter sandwich from the Carnival." I am panicking.
"I am just going to the bathroom real quick." She runs to the bathroom with one hand covering her bottom.
I throw my purse on the couch along with myself. Just a second after I rested my head on the couch, I could hear that the front door is being unlocked. I turn my head to find Dominic entering the leaving room.
His dark hair and spiky beards are completing his eye bags. He looks so tired.
"Hey, Lara!" He greets me as soon as he walks in. "Where's Michelle?"
"Hey!" I chirp back. "She's in the bathroom. I think she's sick."
Panic just storms in his eyes. "Is she okay?"
"I am okay." Michelle announces herself as she enters the living room.
"Are you sure? You're sweating, honey!" Dom takes his wife in his arms.
"I am..."Michelle covers her bottom. "Oops, I am not fine!"
Michelle runs back to the bathroom and Dom tries to follow her, but Michelle quickly locks herself in the bathroom.
"I think it's the peanut butter. She swallowed four sandwiches." I inform Dominic.
"She can't eat crazy amount of peanut butter." Dom looks frustrated.
"I am sorry. I couldn't stop her." Now I feel guilty.
"Honey, are you okay?" Dominic screams through the bathroom door.
"Not really." Michelle looks really pale when she opens the door.
"I'll get you the medicine!"
Dominic climbs the stairs, leaving Michelle sitting down on the closed closet.
"I don't think I can drive you home." Michelle says, half grunting. "I'll have Dom to take you."
"No! I'll just walk."
"Don't be silly now. He can drive you home." Michelle insists.
"Here! Honey!"
Sweet Dominic hands Michelle her medicine, I don't know what it is, but it's in a super little glass bottle. I could tell that it is bitter from Michelle's face.
"Thanks, babe!" Michelle surrenders to her husband's arm. "Dom, could you take Lara home?"
"Err, I don't want to leave you home alone like this. Lara, I could get you an Uber."
"No, it's okay. I'll walk, it's not that far." I turn down his offer.
"Are you sure?" Dom asks me again.
"Yeah. I will be fine. Don't worry! You should just take care of Michelle."
"But, Lars!" Michelle argues.
"No but!" I quickly stops her before she forces herself to get up and drives me home.
"I'll walk you out!" Michelle get on her feet with the help of Dominic's hand.
Michelle squeezes me in the doorway, not to mention a thousand kisses that she plants on my cheek. I know that she is worried.
"Call me when you get home!" She demands.
"Okay!" I step down the porch. "Bye, Dom!"
Keith's POV
Michael drops his controller and walk me out of his room. When Michael and I are running downstairs, I could hear his mother is talking to someone on the phone in the living room.
"Boyfriend." Michael snorts.
"Are you leaving, Keith?" Mrs. Anderson catches us walking down the stairs.
"Yes, goodnight, Mrs. Anderson!" I wave her goodbye.
"Goodnight, Keith!"
It's a little bit windy today. I take big steps as if I am in a hurry, then the sound of fireworks startles me. They do it twice? I am sure I heard the first one around seven earlier.
I stop and stare for a while. The colors of yellow, green, blue are combined together in the sky. It really is beautiful. Soon after, there is pink, purple, and red. Red makes everything looks brighter and better. I think to myself. I let loose a little smile then walk myself back home.
"What is wrong with you?" I hear a deep male voice as I turn to the right.
"She's a freak!" A woman's voice is heard too.
I narrowed my eyes to focus my vision. I see a dark hair man and a blonde woman in front of me. They are pissing at something or someone I guess.
"Where do you think you're going?! Huh!" The woman's voice is getting louder as I am closing in.
"I am sorry!" A sweet voice is ringing in this cold night.
What? Speak again! Have I heard the sweetest voice just now? Is that? Fuck! It's her!
"Hey! Hey!" I push myself through this couple, and I find Red. In tears.
"Mind your own business, punk!" The male hisses.
"Keith?!" The woman squeaks.
I don't want to let my sight out of Red, but these two surely get my attention, let alone that the woman knows my name. Shit! It's Blake and Aiden. Why did I not see that?
"What the hell?" I glare at the two of them.
"You know her?" Blake puts her hand on her waist.
"Are you okay?" I ask Red, but she does not respond.
"What did you do to her?!" Now I am pissed.
"You're girlfriend sprayed me!" Aiden points his wet chin.
"Walk it off!" I spit on him.
I am trying to wrap my hands around Red's shoulder, but she jerks away. She must be terrified. She is shaking.
"What did you just say?" Aiden is trying to pick a fight.
"Fuck off, man!" I warn him.
"Or what?" He pushes my shoulders with his two dirty hands.
"I said, fuck off!" I warn him once again.
"Aiden, let's just go!" Blake tries to drag him away.
"This is not over, Jacobson!" Aiden spits and squeezes Blake's butt as they're walking away.
"Red! Are you okay?" I try to look at her face and yet again she jerks away.
"It's okay! It's me, Keith!" I try again with a softer voice.
Red finally gives in and raises her chin up. She looks at me with her shaking puffy eyes. I don't know why, but I am so hurt right now just by looking at her like this.
"Let's get you home!" I offer her my hand and waiting for her to take it.
