Ellie’s POV
I feel huge.
Other than that life is great. Today we are actually going to the baseball game with Mason, and I feel like C.J is more excited than him. He is all decked out in a blue and white Malarne Mavericks jersey. Me on the other hand just put on a blue tank top and shorts, but I did bring a team hat. I know the basics of baseball, but by no means do I consider myself a fan. Most of my knowledge comes from my siblings, and watching them play as I grew up.
We picked up Mason who decided to bring his best friend Derek. The two of them were wearing similar outfits to C.J. I’m pretty sure that Derek has a little crush on me due to his stares, and blushes whenever I talk to him. I think that it’s really cute, but I don’t think Mason does. C.J has also noticed, and sometimes I see him paying extra attention to the fourteen year old alpha.
We got to the stadium pretty early because C.J wanted to take the boys to look around. It was really sweet to see that Mason pretty much idolized C.J. By the time that we got to our seats all of the boys had blue foam fingers decorating their hands. C.J also took it upon himself to buy a little jersey for babies which I have to admit is really cute.
Before we knew it, the game was starting and we were all buzzing in excitement. After the first inning my excitement quickly died down, but the Alphas’ excitement didn't dim for even a minute. Nothing really happened in the first few innings, except that my need to pee increased. Despite not wanting to miss a minute of play C.J got up to take me to the bathroom. Part of me felt like a child that needed their parents to take them to the bathroom, but another part of me felt more comfortable having C.J help me navigate the stadium stairs. I was really afraid of missing a step and falling. Luckily the line to the bathroom wasn’t that long, and we made it back in no time to see that nothing had changed.
In the fifth inning we had finally scored a run, so the score was 1-0 us. The next player hit a single, and now Tony Larson is up to bat. He is the face of the Maverick franchise, and everyone here in Malarne knew and loved the guy. The first pitch was a ball, then a strike, and at the next pitch Larson cracked it just to the right of center field. It looked like it was headed right towards us. People all around us stood up in excitement to try and catch the incoming ball. When it finally landed everyone looked to see who caught it, and to my surprise the ball was in Derek’s hand who had a big smile on his face. I cheered for him, and he blushed before giving it to me. I asked him if he was sure, and he nodded. Ah he’s so cute. I leaned over and gave him a small kiss on the cheek which had his whole face turning fire engine red. I looked up and to my shock I noticed we were on the jumbotron. I waved a little before the camera panned over to a different set of people.
C.J was sitting next to me with a cute little pout on his handsome face. Of course he;s jealous. I turned to give him a small peck before grabbing his hand and putting it on my bump. He gave me a slight smile, and rubbed my belly turning his attention back to the game.
The crowd booed when the other team scored a run in the next inning, but their boos quickly turned into cheers when our team scored another two runs. The final score was 4-1, and the boys were all grinning wide. Right as we were about to leave one of the workers stopped us. I was a little worried that we had done something wrong, but they just told us that one of the players is a big fan of C.J’s father or something so they wanted to meet us. We were led into this team area, and the boys were having fun looking around at all of the stuff.
We saw some of the team walk out of the locker room, and a couple walked over to us.
“Hi, C.J Delaney right? I couldn’t help but notice you on the jumbotron. My girlfriend has a big crush on you, and loves your guy’s clothes. Do you mind if I facetime her right now?” I was really surprised that C.J had been noticed considering he’s not in the media as often as his parents. C.J agreed, and the guy Robert Rooney quickly called his girlfriend.
“Hey babe. Guess who came to see us play?” A really pretty brunette answered the call, and she all but screamed when she saw C.J
“Oh my gosh! That’s C.J Delaney! I’m such a big fan of your family. I’m a fashion design major, and your father has always been such a big inspiration to me” She was obviously starstruck.
“Well I’m really happy to hear that. I’m sure that you are a wonderful designer, and that my dad would love to hear that he inspires you so much. I bet you’ll do great things” The call ended shortly after that, but it was easy to tell that C.J made her week if not her year.
“Thanks so much you guys. Sorry to bother you. If you guys ever want to come see us play just give me a call, and I’ll make sure that there’s seats for you” He gave us his phone number and we thanked him.
I looked over to where Mason and Derek were and saw them talking to none other than Tony Larson himself. When I walked over I caught a little of their conversation.
“That was quite some catch there kid. You play?” Derek quickly nodded, “Well if you play anything like that catch you made today than I’m sure you’ll make it big. I noticed you gave your ball to that pretty little omega over there. Good choice by the way, but it looks like you have some competition. Here take another one, I just signed it. Maybe when you become an Allstar you can give me a ball with your signature on it”
I was stuck between blushing and awwing at Tony’s little speech. I could see the new determination in Derek’s face to live up to Tony’s expectations. He kept talking with the boys, and it looked like they were really enjoying their conversations. By the time we were about to leave thirty minutes had passed.
“You know what. You two give me a call whenever you have a game, and I’ll see if I can make it” The two of them thanked him and he gave them a pats on the head before getting up and leaving.
“You guys seemed to have left an impression on him” I exclaimed, and the two of them also seemed to be in shock the whole way home since they were super silent. When we got to Mason’s house he gave me a big hug as thanks, and Derek gave me a timid one with a blush. I just laughed as C.J mumbled his complaints.
“Oh be nice C.J. It’s just a little crush. I don’t see any harm. He knows that I’m in love with you.” He just held onto my thigh as we drove home in silence. Today was actually really fun, and I made sure to put the ball away before passing out as soon as my back hit the bed.
When I woke up, and turned on the tv it was on some random entertainment channel. What caught my attention was a picture of C.J and I from the baseball game.
“Son of famous designer Augustine Delaney and world renowned model Gwyneth Delaney was spotted at a baseball game with a very pregnant omega. We can only assume by the ring on his finger that the two are engaged” A tall skinny lady spoke with a nasally tone.
“Yup, and can we get a close up on that ring. By the looks of it C.J cares a lot about this mystery omega” This time a stubbier lady spoke up as they brought up a picture of my zoomed in hand.
I really don’t know how to feel about this. Part of me is a little confused on why people care so much, and another part of me finds the whole thing really funny. I called C.J in to look at the program, and he made the funniest face ever.
“How does everyone keep recognizing me? I don’t even do anything like my parents do” He was asking the real questions here.
“C.J you’re not that hard to notice. You’re so big that you kind of stick out like a sore thumb. Also you are beyond good looking, and your parents are so popular with the media that some people are bound to recognize their son and be curious about their family’s life. Look at it this way, now we don’t have to make any more announcements about our engagement or the pregnancy if the media keeps reporting on us” He laughed, and gave me a big hug before telling me that I was right. I decided to just accept it rather than saying that I know I’m always right.
“I just don’t want you to be upset, so if the coverage ever bothers you just let me know and I’ll contact my parents' publicist so he can take care of the issue” C.J ran his hands up and down my back which gave me a lot of comfort.
“You hear that baby boy, your daddy is so protective that I’m sure you’ll be wrapped up in bubble wrap for your whole life” I rubbed my stomach giggling at C.J’s offended face.
“I would never do that for their whole life. Just maybe the first few years” I rolled my eyes at him. C.J likes to think that he’s a comedian, but I think he should stick to his day job.
“Daddy is not very funny is he?” I pretended to whisper.
C.J gasped dramatically, “Mommy is being mean to daddy, but you’ll always love me right baby?”
When he went to reach for my stomach I turned away from him, and tried to speed walk away. I giggled when C.J chased after me, and picked me up only to take me to the kitchen where he then served me my favorite ice cream. Cookies and Cream is the ultimate flavor. C.J likes strawberry ice cream because he is a loser who has terrible taste. You could tell that the baby felt the same way because I only threw up strawberry ice cream and not my superior flavor.
I can’t wait for him to be born. I just love him so much already, and so did everyone else.
