Ellie’s POV
This baby is going to be the death of me. Not only has he been kicking the shit out of me, but now my boobs are starting to lactate which means that once again they are super tender. I remember the first time I noticed yellowish fluid leaking out of my breasts, and C.J started freaking out. I just remained calm, rolled my eyes, and went to my good friend google for answers. Apparently it’s something called colostrum, and it’s perfectly normal. Colostrum is like the precursor to actual milk. I’m over the colostrum phase which is nice, but it’s still annoying to wake up in the morning with two wet patches on the front of my shirt.
Other than that, I’m enjoying life and all of it’s ups and downs. Today we were actually going to WackyWorld which is a popular amusement park in Malarne. My parents actually went on their first date there, so every year for their anniversary we all go to celebrate. It was always a really big deal for us, and we looked forward to it all year. I’m 29 weeks along now, but that wasn’t going to stop me from living my best life. Sure, I couldn’t go on any rides but there were other things to do, and I could watch Max who is too short to go on any of the rides.
We were having a heatwave this weekend so I wanted to be as comfortable as possible. I’m wearing a light pink form fitting, maternity sundress that Gwyneth bought me last weekend. I also brought my floppy sun hat, and put on some comfortable sandals. C.J was just wearing some shorts and a simple t-shirt. I managed to convince him to match with me so his shirt is the same shade of pink as my dress. We looked good.
Instead of us all taking separate cars, we all meet at my parents house and figure out who can fit into whose car. C.J and I are riding with Drew, and Darcy. Drew absolutely hates roller coasters, but always goes on them to avoid being made fun of so today would be very fun for me.
When we finally got to the park I could see that everyone was bursting with excitement. It always took forever for us to decide where to go first, but we finally decided to start off easy by going on Drowsy Drivers. It was this little ride where the people sat in a taxi where the driver fell asleep, and you would take lots of sharp turns to avoid crashing into buildings and even other cars with other park goers in them. It was a good ride for younger kids especially. A lot of the kids were still too young and short to go by themselves so their parents or Aunt/uncle had to go with them. C.J got dragged away by my niece Melody as the rest of them rushed into the line.
I am on Max duty today, and the little boy looked so cute. He was wearing this cute shirt with a mouse surfing on it, and some khaki shorts that matched. We sat down at a bench to the side as we waited for them to finish the ride. He scrunched up his nose as I applied a thick layer of sunscreen to his face.
“I no like it Uncle Ellie” He tried to push my hands away, but I kept on before moving on the rest of his body.
“Hey you’re going to appreciate me when you don’t end up burnt like the rest of your family Maxie” He just rubbed his face into my side and sat down on the bench next to me. I knew that it would be the two of us waiting on the others for most of the day so I packed a small bag of stuff that I put on the bottom of his stroller. I was really happy that Jonathon decided to bring the stroller. It made things a little easier. In the bag I packed a coloring book and some crayons for him to do so that he didn’t get bored. It was one that had a whole bunch of different types of shifters to color. We were working on one of tigers doing ballet when I saw them walking towards us laughing in joy. I packed up the coloring book, and put Maxie into his stroller as the rest of them figured out what to do next.
It was Mason’s turn to pick so of course he picked Joe’s Junkyard which is the fastest ride at the whole park. It goes 82 miles per hour, and Mason has absolutely loved it since he was tall enough to ride it for the first time. I could see the pure fear in Drew’s eyes, but he tried to stay strong when eight year old Allen asked him to be his partner for the ride. The line was about forty five minutes long so Max and I decided to look in a few of the stores that were around the area.
I pushed him into the store, and he tried to grab everything within reach. We didn’t really buy anything, but we enjoyed just going around the store and looking at all of the souvenirs and toys. After a while we walked back over to the ride, and finished coloring the tiger while we waited. Max is really well behaved, and it's nice to get some hands on experience with a toddler so that I’m not completely clueless when the baby comes. I know that a toddler is pretty different than a newborn, but experience is experience. I’m the baby of the family so I don’t really have experience taking care of little kids. I did babysit occasionally when I was in highschool, but they were around 7 and 9 years old so I didn’t really have to do anything for them except make dinner and make sure they didn’t die.
The first person I saw from our family was Drew who ran over to a trashcan so he could throw up. I felt a little bad for him, but he’s the one who couldn’t swallow his Alpha pride and say that he doesn’t like going on these rides so he’s the bringer of his own hell.
“Hey thanks for watching over Max for us Ellie. You’re going to be a great mother” It really meant a lot to me that Jonathon thought that I would be a good parent. He is one of my closest siblings and he’s always been my rock so it felt good to receive his praise and know I was doing something right.
“Daddy look! I color a tiger in a skirt!” Max lifted up the book to show Jonathon who smiled and ruffled his hair while telling him that he did a good job. Max’s grin grew at the praise from his dad.
“How are you holding up babe?” C.J came to my side as we walked over to the next ride. He took over pushing the stroller for me, and my hands automatically went to rest on my stomach.
“I’m okay. I think he’s sleeping right now. He’s not constantly kicking my stomach or bladder like he usually is” I really hope that I didn’t jinx myself. I did not feel like making 500 trips to the bathroom today.
“That’s good. Are you upset that you can’t go on the rides?” He looked at me in concern and curiosity.
“Uh I mostly just feel a little left out. I already knew that I wasn’t going to be able to go on any of the rides so I’m not that upset. Maxie, the baby, and I are having a blast by ourselves though. Right Maxie?” I asked the toddler who was laying down in the stroller now just looking up at us through the little plastic screen on the hood of the stroller.
“Yup! I love baby!” This could not have been more true. I feel like Max is more interested in my stomach than he is with me. He still believes that I ate the baby, and I have no desire to tell him the truth.
“Me too Max. Are you excited for it to come out?” The little boy’s eyes widened as if he hadn’t even considered the possibility of the baby coming out of my stomach.
“I be the best cousin. I take baby to park and play with baby” Max is just too cute for my heart to handle. I really hope that the baby loves Max as much as he loves the baby, because if not Max would be devastated.
Melody chose to go on the teacups, and this time both C.J and I were sitting out. C.J said that he hates going on the teacups because it makes his dragon feel super restless for whatever reason. As we sat down I could see a lot of omegas sneaking glances at my Alpha, so I made sure to snuggle up into his side. We turned the stroller around so that Max was facing us, and we watched as he nodded off to sleep. It’s still pretty early in the morning so it makes sense that he’s feeling tired. I smiled and C.J gently rocked him by pushing the stroller forwards and back at a slow pace with his foot.
The ride for the teacups didn’t take as long as we expected, and they all stumbled over to us looking really drunk. It was very amusing to see calm and collected Darcy so out of it. After everyone got their bearings we headed off to the next ride which was Time Cave. It was a pretty random theme, but they all looked excited. This time Mason seemed eager to be C.J’s partner and they rushed over to the line. I just decided to rest, so I sat down on a bench and continued to rock Maxie. I was a little uncomfortable as I felt the pads in my bra start to slowly get wet with breast milk. I had anticipated this, and brought extra pads, but I couldn’t go to the bathroom just yet. I would just have to wait it out until someone came to watch over Maxie. After about an hour of waiting I decided that I couldn’t wait any longer and I would just have to take Max with me. I hated using the handicap stalls just in case someone needed it, but I needed to bring the stroller in. I quickly changed the pads, washed the milk filled ones out, squeezed the water out, and then put them in a ziploc bag. It didn’t take as long as I thought, and I felt a lot more comfortable as I sat back down where we were. Max managed to stay asleep through it all which I was glad for. However Max woke up about five minutes later, and let out a big yawn.
“Hi Maxie. Did you have a nice nap?” He nodded, still not ready to speak just yet. I pushed his hair back out of his face, and wiped off his drool with a baby wipe. I pushed the back of the stroller back up into a sitting position. I heard his stomach growl so I pulled out a bag of goldfish for him to snack on. We were busy eating goldfish when they walked out of the ride’s exit. I waved them over to us, and they started telling me all about Ben screaming like a scaredy cat. Ben just blushed but didn’t deny the accusations.
They went on a few more rides before we stopped to get lunch. The kids were starting to get hangry, and so was I to be honest. I wasn’t super hungry so I just took a little bit of everyone else’s food that got offered to me. It was pretty good, and Max seemed to enjoy his apple sauce that was all over his face. C.J got a burger and fries which I made sure weren’t poisoned for him. Even after everyone finished eating we just sat there for another thirty minutes talking about funny moments from the day so far.
Soon everyone was getting antsy to go on more rides. My parents became like young children again every time they came here. After a few hours of rides and waiting I was getting a really strong craving for a churro. I figured that Maxie and I deserved to get churros, so we stood in the long line for the sugary treat. When we finally got them I tore off a small piece for Max, but I waited for it to cool off a little before letting him have it. He seemed to really enjoyed it and kept saying mmm before sticking his hand out for more. This is how the others caught us a couple minutes later and they looked at our churros in jealousy. I wanted to stick my tongue out at them so bad, but I refrained.
The next ride had the longest wait time of two hours, but it was a crowd favorite so it made sense. In this area of the park there was a little play area or jungle gym for young children to play at so I brought Maxie over to it. He enjoyed running around and burning the sugar off. I’m sure this was a lot more fun for him than coloring.
Before we knew it the park was about to close and everyone looked ready to head home. Max was passed out in the stroller, and Jonathon took him from me after giving me a big hug goodbye. When we got to my parent’s house we got into our car and tore off to the house. I’m pretty sure I fell asleep and C.J carried me into the bedroom because I really don’t remember how I got into the bed, but I wasn’t going to complain.
