As the man drove in the city, the vampire looked in awe. There he saw different species living together. A sight he never thought he would see in his lifetime. He marveled at the men walking around in comfortable clothing while he snarled at the woman wearing little to no apparels.

"Tell me, do women of this age lose their sense of self respect?" The vampire asked as his eyes followed them.

The man simply grinned. "Quite the contrary actually, my liege. Our generation have reached a period of progress where women are comfortable in whatever dress they're wearing, without the persecution of society"

"Just like my mother would've wanted" The vampire said to himself.

"A Lot has changed since the last time you were here. Taking portraits took mere seconds thanks to photographs. We also made traveling great distance without magic work"

"How so?" The vampire curiously asked.

"Technology. Advanced science. But there are some that requires a little push of magic"

The vampire looked at the window and saw children playing with their phones. "And those children are playing with technology?"

"A mixture of both actually. Our phones are an amalgamation of magic and science" The man told the vampire as he pulled out his phone and handed it to him.

"Interesting." The vampire marveled at the holographic projections and other features of it. Like a baby who discovered a new toy.

They continued to drive until the man stopped the car. He told the vampire they had arrived. The man got out and opened the door for the vampire. The vampire saw their destination. It was an ancestral house barely a hundred years old. The design seemed ancient but the painting and metal work are new. The man opened the door and guided him inside. As they went in the vampire saw various displays of silverware by the wall. A couple of generational photos. The vampire looked at his driver and back at the photos. None of the faces resembled the man.

"Why is your portrait not displayed?" The vampire asked.

"Forgive me. But this isn't my house. I am only renting the place"

"Who would rent their house to a stranger?"

"It's a rental. It's a very lucrative business actually" The man said as he guided the vampire.

They moved past the living room, glanced at the kitchen, and through the dining. As they walked past it they moved towards the stairs. Arriving on the second floor the man showed the vampire the study area. There was a bunch of cluttered paper and a computer already on.

"This is my study. I'm sorry for the mess" The man said.

"Study? Where are the books? How do you learn something?" The vampire asked with consistent curiosity.

"We call it the internet. All the knowledge of almost everyone compiled in a string of information delivered by science." The man said as he pointed on his computer "It is also known as the archive that will be here forever. In fact if not for the internet I wouldn't find the proper spells to search and resurrect you" the man added.

The vampire was impressed. The man tapped him on the shoulder signalling him to move. They did so and they arrived in an empty room.

"This is the room I have prepared for you" The man said as he opened the door and allowed the vampire in.

The vampire entered and sat on the bed. "This feels comfortable. A magnificent choice" He looked at the man. "But I have rested for so long. We must go to your study. I have so much to prepare"

The vampire then stood up and went into the room. He looked around the papers and smiled. "These papers with text are filled with useless spells"

"I'm sorry if you can give me an idea of what you want me to write. I will find them for you" The man said as he picked up the papers on the floor.

"There's no need for that." The vampire said as he stared at the human. As they locked eyes they both felt a bolt of electricity travel between them. The human reeled a little. "I do apologize for the pain. I am not quite as skilled as my sister when it comes to manipulating the mind."

"With all the knowledge you have passed upon me. That pain was nothing." the man said as he saw in his mind different types of magic and methods of warfare the vampire had known. "Tell me my liege, what should we do first"

"I need an army. And I'll need a fortress."

"I can provide you an army. Thanks to you I can summon the dead and I can call out the orcs." The man said.

"Then go. Fetch me my army and I will use this place to build my new fortress" With a tall order he said to the man, the man simply walked out. The vampire smiled. He sliced his hand and let it bleed. He drew symbols around the walls and began to chant a spell.

It was a spell that creates a force field around the house. It took the time to form. It was made by pure energy impenetrable by anyone. As it slowly hardened and wrapped around the house the vampire simply smiled. His plans to destroy humanity have begun and his sister is not there to stop him.
