Kounna arrived at the bus stop. The people around him gave the usual glance. But when they stared down and gazed on his necklace they all moved on. He knew that although being rewarded means he won't be persecuted it still doesn't mean that they are friendly to humans. The bus stop was filled with parked buses all with different names of areas within the city with some labelled to go out of town. Kounna didn't mind those and took the first bus he saw.
It wasn't full yet and the ones who occupied were dwarves and elves. He garnered the same reaction. He moved over to the back of the bus as everyone glared. A few people boarded the bus. Some sat near vacant seats, and others who were on the back didn't even want to be near Kounna. The conductor and driver boarded as well which were an elf and dwarf respectively. Although there was one particular elf that did not mind and sat next to him
Her appearance got his attention. She was an elf who had a backpack over her, it was bulky which gave the impression that she was an adventurer. She had a short fur cape over her. At first Kounna couldn't recognize the fur the animal belonged to but then he saw a bear head made into a hood with bear nails which was made into ornate buttons.
Although she was covered in her cape, Kounna got a glance. It was a short skirt dress with a see through mesh and laces on the neck and sleeves. There was a beautifully crafted lace that ran from her chest to the end of her skirt. Her hips fashioned a leather minimalistic utility belt with ornate buckle. She also wore a dark stocking with two gun holsters strapped on both her thighs. With elven combat boots that had some sort of pocket on the ankles.
The conductor then came and issued everyone a ticket and asked for their payment. It was a quick process until the conductor arrived near Kounna. He scoffed but still issued Kounna his ticket. Kounna, having no change, paid in a large bill. The conductor opened his belt bag and instead of taking the exact change and giving it he pocketed the change and grinned. The conductor proceeded to charge the elf besides him. The conductor started to punch the ticket and handed it out to her. The elf handed the money. Kounna saw the padded sleeve glove of the elf and stopped her from giving. She and the condutor gave him a weird look.
Kounna simply gave a soft growl and took the ticket.
"Excuse me what are you doing?" The conductor asked.
"Paying her fare" Kounna simply replied without looking at him.
"Then give me your money." The conductor handed out his hand.
"It's in your pocket. And it's the exact amount"
"Excuse me?"
Kounna simply growled softly. He sat back and his necklace was revealed. The conductor was taken back by it. He thought of other things until he ultimately took the money from his pocket and placed it on his belt bag. He left Kounna and the elf alone and continued on his job. As the conductor left their sight the elf faced Kounna.
"Thank you for pay-" She was interrupted when Kounna handed her her ticket.
"Just give me the exact amount, I don't have smaller bills." Kounna said without looking back.
"I'm sorry I thought you were being kind. I mean, I kinda save the city after all... You know a horde of bugs controlled by a woman tried to take over a lemon farm. It was a difficult battle" The elf explained.
Kounna simply kept his hand holding the ticket to the lady. "Burning the living hive isn't difficult"
The elf was surprised by his reply and also his broken arm guard and asked a question "Are you an adventurer? Do you have a party? Can we form a party? I don't care if you're a human"
Kounna gave a loud sigh as he crumpled the ticket and let down his arm. And he started to close his eyes.
"That's rude" The elf waited for his reply until she gave up and simply faced ahead.
As the bus started to move Kounna fell asleep. His body is still on alert but resting. It took the bus about two hours to reach Puerto Ditto, the final stop. As the bus halted and the passengers prepared to get off, Kounna stood up and went ahead at the door. He then got out as the doors opened. He expected no city transportation would approach him but as he stepped on the ground a bunch of mixed species approached him and offered their services. Kounna simply waved no and walked on.
He continued to walk towards the city gates until he heard a car move closer to him and stopped. He looked at it and it was a taxi. The windows rolled down and it was the elf.
"Hey, where you going? The city? Hop in" The elf enthusiastically asked.
Kounna ignored her questions.
"Look I'm paying you back but you'll have to ride the cab."
Kounna simply sighed and entered the cab. The elf handed him the money she owed and then she sat back. The lady didn't utter a single word until they reached the city gate. As the cabbie looked back at the elf to show her the meter Kounna simply exited the cab. The elf didn't even get the chance to ask Kounna his name or gave hers instead.
As Kounna walked around the city he recognized a few people of mixed bass background walking around. As he continued he saw a sign for an armor and weapons shop. He decided to enter. As he opened the door no one was around. He approached the counter and saw a bell. He rang the bell. He then heard a voice from the back as it got closer he saw a dwarf.
Kounna saw a dwarf come at the counter. The dwarf used a stool to raise her height and stared at him for a minute. Kounna gave a soft growl, apologized, and headed to the door.
"Please sir, I'm sorry for being rude. But you're welcome here" The dwarf shouted.
Kounna paused and looked back.
"I am aware that you're a human. But I don't hate humans... and beside, after what you did at Sonata I should be thankful" The elf said.
"You're from Sonata?" Kounna said as he came closer.
"Born and raised. Until I found a job and moved here, although that's not the only reason I moved out."
Kounna stayed silent yet his eyes signalled the dwarf that he is interested in the other reason.
"It's the hypocrisy and narrow-minded ideals. They treat humans as filth because of the war that happened a long time ago but they fail to see that elves did the same to us..." The dwarf looked at Kounna. "All you need to know is that I treat all my customers equally" The dwarf proudly proclaimed.
"Thanks. I guess" Kounna simply replied to her kindness.
"Well then what can I do for you?"
Kounna removed his shoulder armor as well as his arm guards which were already damaged. "I need a repair. If it can't be done I need a new one" He said as he placed it on the counter.
"That monster really did a lot of damage to your armor. I have some armor in stock, but they're only good for beginners. For you I recommend a custom made armor" The dwarf said as he inspected the armor.
"How much?"
"Thousand and thirty silver coins. It's gonna be high end armor good against human and monster attacks... oh and you can scan pay the thousand, I'll need coins on hand."
Kounna was surprised. Normally a dwarf recommending a high end armor for a cheap price. Kounna simply nodded. He scanned and paid then he handed thirty silver coins to her.
"Alright let's get to business" The dwarf said as she placed the coins on a metal cup and.
