The view from the cave felt calmer than what they saw overlooking the city. As billows of smoke rose and winged creatures flew around it was a sight of horror. The kids simply cried after seeing their hometown ablaze. Kounna simply stood there, his mind knew that there's nothing he could do. He doesn't want to get involved in this but he can't just leave these kids on their own.
Syun has never felt her stomach twist like this before. Her thoughts moved to her hometown, her parents, her friends. What would she do if this happened to them. Her eyes began to water and her fist slowly trembled. Syun's senses only added to what she's feeling. With her eyes that could see great distance she saw the men being slaughtered, her ears could pick up the plea and shriek of women as the monsters came for them.
Elizabetha could barely control her shock. In her mind she knew who did this, it was her brother. The sight made her remember all the times their family conquered another town. How her brother would smile proudly of what he achieved, every time she saw him do that her heart aches. And this is no exception. Like Syun, Elizabeth could see and hear everything that's happening. But unlike Syun, she could smell the atrocities committed. The musk of the dead, the blood sprinkled on the floor are tempting. Her claws and fangs emerged and she growled like a monster. She was fueled not by hunger but with rage.
It was an understatement to say that everyone was in a state of panic. With her unmatched speed Elizabetha took off. Syun followed the moment she saw Elizabeth gone. Kounna stood there without any plans of helping. He planned to sit down on the ground but before he could position himself the children left behind tugged at his sleeves. Kounna looked at them, their eyes swollen from crying.
"Our parents... Will they be fine?" One of them chokingly asked.
Kounna just looked at them with his eyes void of empathy. The children kept looking at them until they began to cry again.
"I don't want my mother to die" The other child shouted through his tears. His cry prompted the other one to cry as well.
He gave a small growl. "Stay here. If anyone comes up here that you don't recognize, run." Kounna told the kids as he ran toward the city.
Meanwhile, Elizabetha just arrived in the city. She had an up close look of the entire situation. There were winged demons in the sky and few monsters on the ground. They were overwhelming the city's police force, other adventures also sprung into action to hell them. The adventurers managed to fend off a few of the undead yet some of them are getting damaged. Elizabetha, trembling with rage dove into the battle. She hacked and sliced a considerable amount of undead in no time.
A group of police and adventures were preoccupied to notice a giant cyclops casting a giant shadow. One of the police noticed, but before he could alarm his comrades the cyclops swung his club at them. The police simply closed his eyes to accept his fate. He heard a sound of flesh being ripped and a giant thud, when he opened his eyes he saw that he was covered with blood. They were inside the whole poked out of the now dead cyclops. They all looked up to see Elizabetha floating in the air attacking the winged demons.
Syun arrived in the scene. She fired off her gun to both the air and ground enemies. Her aim was impressive given the agility of her targets. She moved forward, firing as she went. Her pace paused when she heard a man scream for help, she looked back and saw that he was about to be devoured. Syun ran towards him while killing the demons that approached him. She helped the man up who was drenched in sweat. She looked around and saw there were still people hiding under the cars or trying their best to fend off their assailants.
"Stay close, I'll get you out of here." Syun instructed the man.
"How about the others?" The man asked with his trembling voice.
"We won't leave without them."
Syun continued to move. She kills monsters and rescues more people. As she began to gather more people it seemed like the more monsters pursued them. Syun ordered the people to stand behind her. They backed up into one of the apartment buildings. One of the men Syun rescued began to knock violently on the door. He along with the other begged for them to be let in but they were being ignored. Syun wanted to knock the door open but she has their safety as her primary concern.
As the people continued to knock and plead, more monsters gathered in front of Syun. She fired at them until she ran out of bullets. She quickly reloaded but it was a little too late as a monster lunged at her. Everything went in slow motion for Syun when the monster's fangs were near her face. It only got knocked back real time when a car rammed the horde killing them. Syun was shocked, her eyes followed the car as it stopped.
Kounna hopped out of the vehicle. He approached the crowd, moving past them and into the door. Kounna knocked and said "Let them or I'll break this door and feed you to the monsters."
"I'm sorry." The man from the other side shouted.
Kounna gave a soft snarl then kicked the door enough to shake it. Kounna continued to kick the door but not to the point of breaking it.
"Alright, I'll take them in!" The man shouted as he opened the door.
Kounna signalled everyone to get inside. He instructed the man who opened the door. "Lock and barricade the doors. Board the windows. Give everyone silverware dipped in salt, just in case."
The man nodded and closed the door.
"What took you so long?" Syun asked Kounna.
"Well I'm not exactly as agile as you guys." Kounna answered. "Where's Elizabetha?"
"Last I saw her she was moving towards the park."
"Good, let's go." Kounna said as he ran towards the park.
Syun followed. They arrived at the city park, there they saw Elizabetha standing over a few dead monsters. Syun called her out. She looked back and recognized them, she tucked away her fangs and claws as she waited for them to come over.
"Are you alright?" Syun asked.
Elizabetha nodded.
"Do you have any idea who did this?" Kounna asked.
"My brother. I could not only feel him in this city but these monsters are clearly made by him."
"Do you have any idea where he is precisely?"
"Yes. I'm and I'm going there right away."
"Good, let's go." Syun said.
"I can't allow you to come with me." Elizabetha protested.
"Well you're still looking like a kid which means your powers aren't back. Which means you'll need back up. Which is us." Syun interjected.
"As much as I hate to agree but the elf is right. Besides who knows if your brother's guarded by his horde." Kounna added.
Elizabetha looked at both of them. She contemplated for a second until she replied. "Fine. Let's go."
