- Danny -
Monday mornings were probably the worst days that existed. He had started the day by looking for his black school uniform, stuffing a sandwich in his mouth before spending his time in the bathroom. After a nice shower he was now standing in front of the mirror and fighting with the white tie, and was soon ready to leave. One last look in the mirror to check so his grey eyes had enough eyeliner, and his blueish black hair was teased to a lion’s mane. Yeah, even if they had school uniforms students could still stick out.
The first week of school had been just as awful as he had expected. People had whispered behind his back about all the shit he didn’t want to talk about, or even think of. He knew deep down it was how it would be, that it was nothing to care about. People would always talk behind your back, and one should just get used to it. Not let it get to you. But it was easier said than done. It made him feel bad, made him anxious. The past was in the past, but oh, how he wished he could undo things.
Danny came inside the school’s entrance hall and looked around, automatically searching for Lillian’s blonde hair. He couldn’t see her, and the hall wasn’t exactly swamped with people. A bit confused he looked down on his shiny silver watch on his wrist. He was early. That explained a lot actually. The entrance hall looked exactly like it always had; a huge room with very high ceilings. It would most likely fit 250 people in there if they stood packed like sardines. Uhh.. awful thought! The floor had dark brown tiles and the walls had a pale creamy color.
“Danny!” Lillian’s voice came soaring, soft and wonderful.
His gaze went straight for her as he took long strides over to her, simply to get the hug with her sugar sweet perfume over with. The scent of raspberries tickled just as much every time, but this time he had longed a little bit for it. He looked at her school uniform for a short moment, the same form fitted shirt with a white tie as he had on, and a rose brooch on her chest, made out of some kind of fabric. Instead of white pants had she a white skirt. On her feet was a pair of pink canvas shoes, which would make teachers look twice but they couldn’t say anything. Students could wear whatever shoes they wanted, even if black or white ones was recommended.
Being back to a school he hadn’t gone to last year was weird, but also good. Of course there were students he knew since before, but also a lot of new faces, and that was the hard part. To have to learn new names. Danny didn’t feel like getting to know anyone, to put energy into it, but it was something he would have to do, sooner or later.
