We arrived at the entrance of the Mess Hall just as dinner was being served. Luckily, people were still walking around, so your late arrival wasn't noticed. Despite my protests, Misha dragged me to meet her friends. There was Tyler, with curly hair and dark brown skin that matched with his eyes. He was a daydreamer, fitting for an Air-El. Orla was a nymph from the Southern Seas, with blue hair that seemed to change with the ocean. Despite the fact that she was a first year, her skills with water-manipulation were one of the best. There were many rumours that she would be chosen as next year's Mentor for the House of Water. Finally, there was Everett. He was a Earth-El, and coincidentally the most down to earth of the group. With his pale skin and light hair he and Tyler were a contrast of colours. I got the feeling that they were best friends partially due to the fact that Everett would always use logic to rebuff Tyler's fantasies. We got along well and planned to meet up after school to help each other with homework.
I soon found out that I was very unprepared for magical food. Dinner was Threading Spaghetti, pasta that would try and wind around you unless you ate it as fast as you could. A power drink called Anti-Quenching was exactly what it sounded like. It was a somehow spicy drink that made you even thirstier with every sip. However, it also gave you awesome fire-breathing powers and super-speed for ten seconds, so many people took the chance. When all that was done, we headed for the dorms. It wasn't long before I fell asleep, thinking about the eventful day. Someone or something was hunting me and I needed to find out why.
That night, I had a dream. I was in a dark forest when the horned man that had attacked me appeared again. I tried to run, to shoot out another beam of moonlight, but I couldn't. I was stuck in place. The demon said, "You never told me she was powerful." I felt myself speak "I didn't know. She never revealed her powers to anybody." "Do not fail me again, my dear," he replied. "I spent much of my essence for the attack and it was for naught. Master will have to know." "I know," I said, "I'll be more vigilant. She won't suspect a thing." "Yes," the demon sneered. "Remember all that Master has given you." he continued. "Without him, where would you be, my dear? Rotting in a hole your parents dug for you. It's a shame you were never as good as your sister." "I am better than her now." I say. "I have beaten her and she cannot fight me again." "Yes, my dear." the demon said, but his acceptance came with an ominous warning. "I await your next report."
"Selene! Selene, wake up!" Misha yelled, as she shook me awake. "LeavemealoneIwanttosleep." I grumbled. "Selene, your meeting with the headmistress!" Misha said, pulling off my covers. "Shit!" I said, jumping up. "What time is it?" "6:45" she replied. "Your alarm woke me up", but you were sleeping like the dead. "The dead..." I thought, remembering my dream. There was a traitor in Silverleaf. "Selene!" Misha said again, rousing me from my thoughts. Without thinking, I pulled on an outfit Misha had put one my bed and looked at myself in the mirror. The top and jeans she had picked for me somehow amplified my nearly nonexistent curves. After a quick makeover, I sprinted out of the room and to my appointment.
"I have been investigating your claim, Selene, but have found no proof of a breach in security." Headmistress Goldenburg said as she lifted an eyebrow at Ethan and I. I tried not to look uncomfortable under her harsh gaze. "I assure you, ma'am, that I am telling the truth," I said. Then thinking back to the dream, I said "Have you considered that it might be an attack from the inside?" "Hmm..." she said, looking thoughtful. "No. However, I do not believe that anyone within these walls would dare to betray us." "But-" I said, trying to reason with her. "Miss Perez, that will be the end of our discussion on this. There is one more matter I wish to discuss with both of you." she said. "Having a legendary element is a very rare occurrence, so, unfortunately, there are no professors who will be able to train you in specialized spells. This is why I am asking Mr. Alder, the only other legendary Attuned in this school to mentor you."
Crap.
