Yuma raised her hand and steadied her breathing.

Then with wide pleading eyes she cried. “Madora and I, we escaped into the forest last night during the raids... and there are other younglings with us... they’re in great danger... in there.”

 “How far away are they?” Arden asked in a tone that clearly meant he was in charge.

“A mile or so... I ran back here leading those beasts away from them.”
