SELI FINLEY
Rigel Academy, the best academy in the entire country. It was the place where the most skilled fighters from all over the country came to study. It was the place for elites among the elites. That was the kind of titan Rigel Academy was.
The Academy was a boarding school with permission from the high authority. There were sixteen academies throughout the country, and all the academy leaders were people who had powers, even though most of the teachers and students didn’t. But in contrast to the Governor, their strengths were different and were used in different ways too. They loved knowledge and wisdom.
Today was a special day, because I was going to start studying at Rigel Academy, but,
I couldn’t believe I would be late on my first day at school!
After arriving at the Station, I took the train to the Special Valley District, where the Rigel Academy was located. The silver colored flying train with a golden pattern on its side was floating on platform nine, waiting for the scheduled departure. I got into the train, and looked for my seat number.
Five minutes later, the half filled train departed. It went through underground passageways, then appeared on the surface, flying over the vast blue lake.
The morning sun looked charming behind the mountain. The train continued east. Passing through various districts, hills, and also vast grasslands. I watched as a group of wild animals ran down the hill.
The train passed through other cities, villages, and agricultural fields. Waterfalls could be seen on the walls of the hills. I leaned my face against the train window, smiling while staring out. It's been a long time since I had travelled this far.
Based on what I had learned from a book I had read when I was a kid, the country I lived in was called Rigel and was led by a minister. Rigel was divided into five provinces—the North province, the Central province, the West province, the East province, and the Rigel province in the southern side of the kingdom, with Rigel City located near the border of Rigel Province and the East Province.
The City of Rigel acted as the capital with each province led by a governor who also acted as a warlord. These governors had different powers.
The five governors formed a military council that had the same position as The Council. The Council consisted of normal people who were chosen by the people. Together with the Military Council, they ran the country with the minister as their leader.
Half an hour passed and I prepared to step out. I carried my backpack on my shoulder and picked up my tote bag. The holographic instructions on the train wall told me that my destination was sixty seconds away.
The Special Valley District was located in a valley with dense forests. There was no city there, only a few villages where the people worked as farmers, ranchers and hunters. The rest was a well maintained forest.
In the middle of this district was the Rigel academy. Taking up more than a dozen hectares, the academy offered the best facilities and professors throughout the country.
I looked at the empty station.
I went down by myself. I stared at the hologram clock at the station pole—half past seven. The inauguration ceremony for new students had already started, so I had to hurry.
I teleported toward the center of the valley. The distance between the station and the academy was around twenty kilometers.
The valley looked peaceful. A dense forest, birds chirping, wild animals passing along the road, herds of elephants who casually chew on the grass.
Ten minutes after teleporting, with sweat drenching clothes, I arrived at the gates of the academy. Rigel Academy buildings looked magnificent and modern. Nobody guarded the gates and the yard with the grass clipped neatly also looked empty. It looked like the residents of the campus were gathered in one building. It wasn’t hard to find it. It must’ve been the tall building resembling a pyramid. The Crescent formation on it’s peak really made it stand out.
I headed towards the pyramid shaped building. When I reached it, a six feet tall door greeted me. I sighed softly.
I pushed with all my might and the door opened with a rumble, allerting all those present.
Simultaneously, four hundred Rigel Academy students inside the building looked at me. Ninety-nine new students, minus me, lined up in the middle of the hall, three hundred upper-level students sat in tiered chairs that formed a half circle upwards. With twenty-one professors sat behind a long table on the stage.
I gulped.
I looked around. The morning sunlight penetrated the roofs and walls of the building. Everyone noticed me who came with a backpack and tote bag. My face was a little stiff, my chest was throbbing strongly, but I wasn’t going to back down. I started walking forward.
All of a sudden, two students teleported next to me.
"You may not enter. According to the regulations, new students who are late on the first day of school will be declared failing from the academy and sent home," one of them said seriously.
I shook my head and kept walking forward. There's no way I'm going to go back home just because I'm late.
One of the students tried to catch my hand but I dodged.
Another 2 students appeared in front of me, each carrying a weapon resembling a spear.
"Miss, you need to leave!"
I shook my head again and kept walking forward.
One of the students tapped his spear, a silver net shot out from its end, trying to wrap my hand.
Splash! I teleported through the new students. It was a fast and strong teleportation movement, making the line split. Some students got slammed left and right.
“Hey! Where are you going?” the higher-level student who tried to catch me shouted.
Splash! Splash! Four people chased after me.
Hundreds of students sitting in the chairs stood up. Heads loomed high, watching the thrilling fight.
“CHASE THE INTRUDER!”
“STOP HIM!”
From the front side, four higher-level students also sped closer. I had made it through the rows of new students, currently positioned in the empty space between the new students and the long table where twenty-one professors were sitting.
Four silver spear were raised, and a lot of flying nets sliding from its end. I quickly avoided it.
One of the higher-level students looked angry. Splash! He appeared in front of me, his hand raised. I already knew what he was about to do. I'm prepared for it.
BUM!
A loud bang hit the transparent shield I made. It’s a strong shield. So strong, the shield bounced back, and the higher-level student got slammed.
Hundreds of students who watched were amazed.
Two other higher-level students also gave a clashing punch. I put a strong stance, covering my surroundings with a transparent shield.
BUM! BUM!
Splash! Splash!
“STOP!” a loud, deep voice came from the long table, holding back the movements of eight higher-level students who were trying to incapacitate me.
One of the professors stood up. She’s wearing a black uniform with a silver stripe on the front.
I gasped, wiping the sweat from my forehead.
“My name is Gil. I am the Head of this academy. What are you doing young lady?” the professor asked from the stage.
Splash! Splash! Before I had time to answer, eight higher-level students continued their effort trying to incapacitate me.
I growled, “I’m not afraid of you guys!” They appeared in front of me but my hand moved first.
I sent two clashing punches. Their faces gasped in surprise. They had no time to make a transparent shield, their bodies got hit.
“Hey, that was great!”
The sound of applause filled the hall.
My attack just now sparked a big battle.
“COME ON!” I growled, my fist clenched.
BUM! BUM!
The fight started without anyone being able to interrupt. One against sixteen higher-level students. I gasped for air, my heart beating fast. I won’t lose to this losers.
BUM!
One of them managed to hit my back. I didn't have time to dodge or make a transparent shield. My body was hit, but I immediately stood up, wiping my messy hair. Still in a half-standing position, I shouted and replied back by sending a clashing punch.
Hundreds of students who were watching were getting noisy
“STOP!” Director Gil shouted again from the top of the stage with her fist up in the air.
The sixteen higher-level students didn't listen. They were already offended by witnessing a girl successfully beating them. They keep attacking me.
BUM! BUM!
A barrage of attacks is directed at me. I gasped for air. It's obvious that I lost stamina because they gang up on me.
Five minutes, I endured it all, one of the higher-level students appeared above me, preparing to send a clashing punch at my weak side. I can only stare in horror as I have no time to dodge or even make a transparent shield.
BUM!
The higher-level student was the one who got hit.
I turned around. What happened? Who punched him?
Splash! One of the new students teleported in front of me. He was the one who helped me. He has tousled Auburn hair, which was thick and lustrous. His eyes were a mesmerizing deep ocean blue. His face was strong and defined, his features molded from granite. He had dark eyebrows, which sloped downwards in a serious expression. His broad shoulders and well shaped body made him look manly.
Splash! Another new student appeared beside him, forming a transparent shield surrounding the three of us. Her Hazel eyes, were calm and emotionless. Long, wavy blonde hair, so smooth and silky, almost as if it was tailored from gold fabric. Her skin was like silk over glass, and she radiated an intelligent beauty. I couldn’t help but gawk at the two people who appeared in front of me, it’s like both of them were made out of this world.
The other higher-level students yelled angrily. But before they could do anything, Director Gil once again raised her fist.
Sproot!
I never saw the kind of great technique she did before. To be exact, I didn’t even know that it could be done. Out of nowhere, all the higher-level students' feet had been pinched by blocks of ice to the groin.
“Bring those three to my office.” She said while pointing at us. “Tell them to wait there. I'll meet them after the opening ceremony is done.”
Director Gil has now turned to the sixteen higher-level students.
“And you guys,” her face looked angry. “All of you are embarrassing this academy name! You guys were supposed to secure the ceremony so that everything runs smoothly, but all of you did the opposite! You guys messed up the event!
Get them all out of my sight, and continue the ceremony!” Director Gil shouted.
And just like that, the chaotic opening ceremony continued after all the chaos was over.
