Sometime later, a pleasant young man named Tom is driving his van to the local junk store. He's a hard-up student with a limited budget, who's looking to purchase some cheap furniture for his room. As he enters the private store, the owner, who was an elderly man greets him at the dingy door.

Tom explains his situation to the old man, saying "I'm looking for some furniture, but I'm not expecting to find much for my budget."

The old man enthusiastically encourages Tom to look around the store telling him, "You can always find something of value here, you just have to look hard enough!"

The old man then sits on his chair by the counter and reads a newspaper. Enthused by the old man's cryptic offer. Tom looks around the shop. But is unimpressed by the long rows of disorganized junk piled on top of each other with most of it covered in dust.

It was largely shabby furniture from used lamps to wooden chairs, along with cupboards and wardrobes. With other knick-knacks and overturned boxes scattered on top of them. Not seeing anything of interest Tom continues browsing.

After walking past some furniture he then hears a peculiar noise, like something was bending or contorting. He begins looking for where the odd noise was coming from. Initially, Tom thinks some furniture might have fallen over. He looks toward the old man, to see if he heard the noise as well, but he was still reading the newspaper.

Tom is instinctively drawn to something which is buried under lots of junk and cardboard boxes. He's not quite sure what it is at first, and after removing all the junk. Tom discovers what appears to be a large regal-looking French-style bed.

Tom is amazed by his find as he wipes away the dust from his hands, but he becomes subdued, thinking it was most likely not something he could afford to buy. He decides to ask anyway, as he calls the old man over to find out how much the bed was selling for. The old man walks towards him, as he delicately puts on his glasses.

He looks at the tag attached to the headboard saying, "$15."

Tom completely flabbergasted by the cheap price asks the old man If he's serious. Tom thought the bed must be worth at least 100 times that.

But again the old man said, "You can have it for $15."

Tom becomes extremely suspicious of the old man, as he next begins to forensically inspect the bed looking for critical flaws. It seemed too good to be true. The old man laughs gently at Tom's reaction, as he gets on the bed and starts jumping up and down on it, to prove it was in good shape. Tom continued to inspect the bed, but he couldn't find anything wrong with it. The bed was in pristine condition, and Tom fell in love with it and wants to buy it. The old man gets some rope along with a large trolley and helps Tom move the bed outside.

The old man ties the bed to his van, saying to Tom, "You've made me very happy", as the old man waves Tom goodbye as he drives away.
