The Prince snuck into the man's tent, he heard the man mumbling so he got lower and looked at what he was doing, he was counting the money he made from the show, "good he's distracted," thought William, he looked around a couple of times and then it caught his eyes, there it is, just as she described it," thought William.
William then made his way towards the mace, he could hear the man talking, "that little brat needs to put more work into the show so I can make more money, this isn't enough for me to live a better life," said the Ringmaster, just as William was close to taking the mace another man came into the tent, " I was watching your show today and I would like to buy that girl from you, I'm a very wealthy merchant so name your price," said the Merchant, The Ringmaster started to smile.
"How much are we talking here?" said the Ringmaster, as they were discussing the details William grabbed the mace and made his way out of the tent undetected, Rose saw him coming back with the mace her face lit up, and she started to smile, "you did it," said Rose in an elated tone.
"Yeah I told you I would set you free," said William," thank you, hold it up so I can touch it," said Rose as she was pushing her chained hands through the cage grills, she was shaking, so close to freedom she couldn't wait, her hands then touched the mace, she said something and the chains became undone and fell off her hands and feet, William then used the mace to break the lock that was on the door of the cage.
By this time the Ringmaster was taking the merchant to look at Rose "I have to keep her lock-up she is a slippery one and I'm sure she is worth much more than what you are offering," he said, to his surprise, he saw Rose outside of the cage, freed," what is going on here!" shouted the Ringmaster, they were both taken by surprise so the Prince took her by the hand and they ran.
He then shouted "Hey stop! somebody, stop them, bring back my money you scoundrel! thief! somebody stop them please!" shouted the Ringmaster, they ran as fast as they could, they eventually made it far away from him, "let's hide in the market, he can't find us here with all these people," said William as they made their way through the market place, they saw a place where they could hide for a little while, William not knowing that it was close to where his family was selling.
"Thank you for saving me from that man, I have been held captive since I was a little girl," said Rose, she hugged him," it was nothing, I couldn't bear seeing you chained up like that, you deserve to be free," said William, Rose then started to cry, tears of joy," I have tried to escape so many times and failed each time, I was on the verge of giving up I was going to end my life tomorrow and then you came along and saved me," said Rose.
"William was astonished by what he heard, "I guess I was supposed to be here today," thought William, " I'm happy I came here today, so you can have a much better tomorrow," said William, "thank you, where are you from?" asked Rose," I'm from a village deep in the mountains of the Central Kingdom," said William.
"How about you?" asked William, "I'm not sure, I have always been on the move since I was very young," said Rose, "so where is your family?" asked William, "I use to live with my grandmother but she died and my mother promised me she would come back for me but I don't even know if she is dead or alive, it has been a while now so I don't have any family," said Rose.
"Oh, sorry to hear that, well I know a place where you will be treated as a part of the family if you come with me," said William," that sounds like somewhere I would want to be, ok I will," said Rose with a smile."
Meanwhile, some soldiers from the East Kingdom were there patrolling the area, making trouble and antagonizing the people, the sellers in the market were fed up but what could they do, they just had to bear it, the soldiers were going from stall to stall taking away the people's produce and mocking them, they were also intoxicated from drinking.
They started to destroy an old lady's stall and the items she had on it because she was resisting them," please stop, this is all I have to sell, my husband is sick and needs medicine, please I beg of you," cried the old woman.
