Asthma- both major and minor triggers

Physical Activity: Major

When I say physical activity, I mean things like running and all that, basically things you would do when working out or if you’re in school, doing gym class/PE. As mentioned, he does go on walks but if he’s walking for a while then he does get tired really easily, so he normally just stops for a bit to take a breather and then continues.

Smoke: Major

Smoke is obviously a large trigger for his asthma, since that’s basically one of the reasons he developed it. It’s not actually that major or that minor, it depends on how much smoke. If for instance, it’s a small amount of smoke coming from a cigarette, then it typically won’t trigger him. But large amounts of smoke will, badly.

Anxiety: Major

August’s anxiety has a major effect on his asthma. He usually doesn’t have a full panic attack without it turning into an asthma attack. When he has a panic attack, he hyperventilates which is one of the things to cause an asthma attack for him. Although he can have a panic attack or just have bad anxiety in general without it resulting in an asthma attack, it usually doesn’t turn out that way but it can sometimes.

Mold: Minor

Usually why August makes sure his apartment is clean, there are no leaks in things and his foods aren’t expired, etc. He doesn’t even come across mold that often, so it’s not something he really worries about.

Strong fumes, vapors or odors: Minor

It isn’t as bad as most, but it does trigger him sometimes, not always though. Things like perfumes, paint, gasoline and scented soaps can be a problem though.

Strong Emotions: Minor

This is somewhat involved with anxiety. Strong emotions like yelling, crying or laughing too much can be a problem sometimes.

Anxiety- get ready folks, there’s quite a few

Loud noises, typically yelling: Major

He’s not good with loud noises at all and especially yelling. It would probably be one of his worst triggers when it comes to anxiety.

Sometimes music or specific sounds: Major

Things like alarms or calming/relaxing music can trigger him a lot.

Being Pressured: Major

Going back to the yelling thing. August hates being pressured and never has nor will he ever be good at dealing with it. It’s an extremely bad trigger for him and currently, he doesn’t think he’s ever going to overcome it.

Stress: Major

August obviously gets stressed or overthinks very easily, that’s just the type of person he is. Stress is usually the cause of anxiety for people, along with other things. Overthinking is included with this, I would put it as it’s own but I’m just going to include it with stress.

Memories: Major

By memories I mean bad memories of course. August often thinks back on past things and always regrets it. The more he remembers, the worse it will trigger his anxiety.

Being Recognised: Major

I can’t explain this one since it’s spoilers, but all you need to know is that when or if people recognise him or he’s approached by someone he doesn’t know/doesn’t like then it doesn’t go well on his side. Though this is more of something that happened in the past and doesn’t happen anymore.

Death: Minor

It depends on the type of death, specific types will trigger him. He’s okay most of the time when he thinks about his parents if he’s in a more relaxed state. Other times, not so much. To most people he might not seem like it, but he’s pretty sensitive to death and isn't good at dealing with it.

Smoke/Fires: Minor

I put this under minor, but it isn’t really major or minor, kind of in the middle. If he was still a teenager then it would be major, but since he’s matured a lot more and is able to deal with it better, it’s not as bad as it used to be. But it still can trigger him sometimes depending on the situation.

Medication: Minor

Actually, this isn’t too much of a trigger anymore. During middle school and high school, August developed an addiction to his medication and got extremely bad anxiety if he couldn’t find it or didn’t take it. He’s definitely recovered but he still somewhat gets worried if he loses his medication or doesn’t take it at a specific time.

Public places and too many people: Minor

In highschool, things like presentations and stuff were really bad. Now, when August is in a public place and there are way too many people in that one place, it doesn’t put him in a good position and makes him anxious.

Staring: Minor

Again, going back to presentations. If he was doing a presentation in school, he would easily either have a panic attack before or after it. He’s not good at dealing with multiple people staring at him. It’s not as bad as it was in the past, but if those types of situations were to occur again or if someone is just watching him for a large amount of time, he will surely get anxious.

 Extra:

If you don't understand what I mean by major/minor. Then I'll explain it real quick. When I say Major and Minor in asthma, by major I mean it's enough to cause a really bad asthma attack, that sometimes even using an inhaler wouldn't work on. By minor I mean it doesn't necessarily always require him to use an inhaler but is able to cause an asthma attack, but isn't as serious.

In anxiety, what I mean by major is it's enough to cause him to have a panic attack. Minor meaning that it's enough to make him extremely anxious but not cause a panic attack. It doesn't mean that it isn't able to though, it just normally doesn't.

Hope that helps~

Here's more to know about August. These are I think all his triggers, but I'm not sure if I got every single one.

By the way, I haven't said this but I write using British English (not sure if I worded that correctly) so that's why some things are spelt differently compared to American English.

Thanks for reading. x

He wasn’t very happy about the idea. But, this person changes August much more than he expected. How can so many things happen in just a few months?
