Kiss Him

Part Two
I couldn't believe my stupid luck. Sold a shitty car, bump into a guy who thought my situation was hilarious. I felt so embarrassed and stupid. Maybe I am pretty stupid, it's not like I'm used to these kinds of situations or this damn freezing weather, but I needed to get away. I had to run and hide from all the shit I caused back home. I'm a pathetic failure. I ran again and this time there's no going back from it, so I need to suck it up and be a man for once.
"Thank you for your help Craig." Although I don't really want to be here, it's a choice I made for my own sanity.
"Well, your welcome. I don't often do this sort of thing, so it kind of makes me your hero." He laughed as he parked up his big truck. I looked around at the many scattered lodges, all snow covered. Well, my car most definitely wouldn't have made it here.
"Yeah yeah, my hero." I huffed and moved from the truck. My feet slipped slightly in the deep snow and I accidentally yelped. "Dammit." I felt my face flush with embarrassment as he circled around the truck to grab my bag. If today could get any worse than it already had? Apparently it could. He's a damn Alpha and I'm an Omega. I needed to avoid this guy. Alpha's should come with warning labels.
"So, what lodge will you be staying in?" He asked as he stood holding my expensive luggage.
"Erm…" I pulled the piece of paper from my pocket that had the lodge number. "Well, it's number eight." I looked around.
"So it's that one, over there." He pointed. "Two down from mine."
"Yours? Are you staying here too?"
"I own mine, well my folks do." His eyes held mine in some kind of trance that I couldn’t break free of and I really wanted to. I could feel my cheeks heating as it hit me that I needed to look away, but damned if I could. What the hell kind of spell had this man put on me? This Alpha. God I hate Alpha's.
"Oh, right."
"I'll take your bag for you….oh and try not to slip. I laughed way too much today already." I uttered asshole under my breath as I carefully followed him and there was me just a few seconds ago all tranced out over him. I hung my head low watching my feet sink into the snow. The crunching sounds made me shiver. I'm really not used to this cold climate. I'm used to heat, basking in the sun, all the luxuries of life and now I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere with a gorgeous asshole for a neighbour. "Here, it will be cold inside as it's not been used for a while. There's a shed out back with all the firewood you should need. There should be storage heating in all other rooms, but let the boiler heat for a while or you will be showering in freezing water If you don't."
"Oh, right."
"Do you need me to help you with that too?" I spun on my heel and gave him a look. Hopefully he took that as a sign to now get lost. "So that's a no?"
"It's a no. I'm fine now, thanks." He seemed to steel his spine a bit before he lifted his eyes.
"Alright kid, see you around…"
"I'm not a kid," I said, pointing my finger at him. "And I appreciate your help but you can leave now."
With that annoying and mocking grin. He spoke, again. "Sure. Be safe." He sniggered.
"Yeah, thanks." Ahh shit, if I even for one second let that gorgeous man get even close to me again, I'm killing myself….okay, well that's a bit OTT, but nevertheless, I won't allow myself to be swept away that easy. Stupid hot guy getting on my last nerve. After putting in the pin code I finally had my key and made my way inside. He was right. It's freezing. I needed to warm this place up before I died of hypothermia. Now where were those logs?
I wandered the lodge taking stock of my surroundings. It's pretty simple, nothing like the lavish places I've ever stayed before, but it wasn't too bad. Simple really, nice wood beams, comfortable furniture. This will do for a while. All I had to do was sort myself out. I could do that. Fuck! Who was I kidding? I couldn't even cook for myself. I might be an Omega, but I wasn't your typical Omega. I've never had to do anything for myself. Ever. I'm a spoiled brat. Always have been. Until I put my foot in it one to many times and here I am. Running from my life. My beautiful privileged life. My parents hate me now. I fucking hate me now and I especially hate Alpha's. Except my parents and my sister, yet it doesn't stop them hating me. Fuck it. Don't care anymore. Then I jumped near out my skin when the door knocked. Who? Shit. So I made my way over and opened it to see a tall guy looking down at me. "Good afternoon. Nathaniel right?"
"Erm, yeah."
"I apologize Nathaniel. It seems the snow storm that will hit in an hour or so has knocked out the electrics and we are not sure how long it will be until it's back on. But there's a backup generator in the main lodge…."
"Wait, what?"
"Yeah," he said, scratching at the back of his head. "It happens around this time of year."
"Oh. Erm, will anyone be out to fix it?"
"Won’t be anybody going anywhere ’cept plows and emergency vehicles once the state of emergency goes into effect."
"The… state of emergency," I repeated, watching the snowflakes swirl in the glow of the late afternoon air. "I didn't hear anything."
"It's been on all radio stations for the last few hours."
Fuck! I was listening to some stupid podcast before my car got stuck in the snow bank. "Ah, thanks. I think I'll be fine."
"If you change your mind it's just up there," the guy said, pointing up towards a huge lodge. "It's basically the main house. I run it and there's a bar and hot food. So if you change your mind, make your way there. Sorry again."
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind."
Now, I just wished I were somewhere...anywhere else. Then a flash of purple speared the sky and I gasped. "The fuck was that?"
The guy smiled in amusement. "Lightning."
"Oh god! Right. I'll be fine, thank you." The guy nodded and walked away. This is all I fucking need. No electricity means no damn heating or hot water. Although I could warm up by the fire I needed a bath. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly through my nose and decided to pop outside for a quick scan of the place. Snow had started to fall heavier and the wind really picked up, then I noticed a couple lodges down from me was that guys lodge. Craig. He had electricity. What the fuck? That's not fair. So I stomped through the snow towards his. I didn't want to see him again, but he could at least share some of that damn electricity with me. So I hauled it carefully up the steps to his door and gave it a few hard knocks. Fuck I'm so damn cold. "....answer…" Then the door flew open.
I put on my best innocent smile as he stared at me, with his phone to his ear. "....hold that," he mumbled and put his hand over the phone. "You okay?" He asked.
"Erm, right….you have electricity." I stuttered.
He nodded. "Sure do," then he held a finger up at me. "Yes, Marcus. No, I’m fine. Yeah. That's why I texted Walker last night and… Yes, I do think a text message is adequate communication. I let you know that I was safe, which is… No, Marcus, it honestly never occurred to me that a serial killer could have taken my phone and pretended to be me. How very imaginative of you," He paused with one hand holding the phone and the other opening the door more. Does he want me to go in? "I’m very sorry to hear that Walker...." He sighed and waved me in. "A sore tooth too? That's… No, I don't know any disease that gives you a toothache. Have you considered talking to an actual... Uh huh. No, I see. You think he'll perk up the second you tell him you're coming out? Well, see if he can just hang on for a couple more days or maybe don't come at all. That would be better…" I smothered a smile. Whoever he was on the phone to was letting him have it. "No Marcus. Your fat. Don't come, there's no need. The storm is about to hit momentarily…" I really wanted to laugh my pretty ass off at this guy. "I’m perfectly fine," Craig did an accurate impression of a blender, hissing and clacking into the phone. "Wow! Marcus? Shoot. I think the connection is going. Maybe the weather knocked out a tower! Marcus? Nope. I can’t hear a thing. Gosh darn it all to heck! And I was dying to hear more about how the babies are doing! Welp, if you can hear me, I’ll call you in a few days. Love you both! Byeee!" He pushed the button and threw the phone on the counter with a clatter.
"Wow," I said, walking into the warmth. "That was a five out of ten for performance, maybe two out of ten for originality. And I’m grading on a curve."
"Thanks. What do you want?"
Wow! Blunt. "You have electricity."
"Already established that. I have a generator."
"Can you like...share?"
He frowned and very slightly cocked his head. "Share? You're joking right? How in the hell could I share?"
"Don't know. But my place is freezing and you didn't even warn me about some imminent snow storm."
"Why would I? Not my responsibility."
This guy! Is an asshole. "Fine." I bit and turned away.
"Wait. I'm just about to cook."
I turned to face him again. "You'll cook for me? Could I at least borrow your shower too?"
"I'm...not sure. Like having you for dinner might be...like dangerous or something…."
"Hold that," he quickly shut his mouth. "Is that because I'm an Omega? I can promise you it will be okay. I'm not due a heat and I religiously make sure I'm very careful. You don't need to worry, honest."
"You promise? Because I don't really feel like losing my head. You know?"
"I promise."
"Fine. You can use my shower too."
Finally. I thought. Thank you god! Craig's not such a bad guy after all. "Thanks, I'll go get my bits." He nodded and grunted and maybe my heart went thump a little too. Oops. I'll just ignore that, because I desperately needed a shower and food.
