We made it to a car rental agency and finally got on the road back home. Amory mentioned feeling a little tired, so he sat in the back seat so he could stretch out. Within twenty minutes of being on the road, he was out.

“Aylward, I have a big favor to ask you,” he gives me a confused look after I start our conversation that way. “I know we are on a crazy schedule and we need to get Amory safe inside the castle before his father can find him, but he needs a little bit of time. Can we stay the night here in the human world, or delay saying we found him and keep him at my house when we get to the kingdom? He is overwhelmed and needs a day or two to process a little of what happened to him”

Aylward’s confusion turned into a thoughtful frown. It took him several minutes to reach a decision.

“I’m not really comfortable staying outside of the kingdom overnight. However, it would be almost impossible to get him into the kingdom without him being recognized. It isn’t a good idea to do this. He needs to start training as soon as he can.” Aylward looked torn between what he was supposed to do and Amory’s needs.

“I know I am asking for a lot, but I really do think he will burn out if he doesn’t get a chance to process some of this. I think it needs to be with someone not emotionally involved. You two are so close to this, you both have so much that needs to be said between you. He needs someone he can vent to without worrying if he is saying something or doing something that is bringing up sad memories.”

“Okay, Haven. I will figure out a plan by the time we get to the next gateway.” Aylward didn’t look happy at the decision he came to, but at least he is listening. Now to think of a way to convince Amory he is safe enough to let his guard down a little bit and relax.

I would much prefer if we could conceal Amory and sneak him into the Celestial Kingdom. It would be so much safer to have him in there than in the human realm. Oh, well. We will see what plans we can come up with. Time to think.
