Author: RainbowCat
Genre: Romance/drama
What I liked about this book:
There is a good underlying thematic element here of a broken girl learning to trust again. The chapters are pretty short and compact. I like the idea of these big tough gang leaders turning their lives around because they found this poor chained-up girl.
What I did NOT like about this book:
The writing here is all over the place, and logically makes no sense. Scarlett is still 17. Even if she were not still a minor, surely had they reported her faster father for having her literally chained to a bedroom wall something would have happened to him. Why bring her to their special doctor instead of like, to a hospital?
Everything is very dry and telly. The prologue serves no thematic purpose at all, and honestly, I would cut it completely since it's just an explanation of the novel to follow. The main character has no real personality, since the author spends no time delving into her inner thoughts and instead just monologues about things going on around her.
Really you need to up your descriptive writing game. Make me FEEL for this character. Make me care about what's going on inside her head. Right now I don't, and that makes this very difficult to read.
Overall:
Eh. Very forgettable, honestly.
Rating:
3/10, this needs a serious rework.
