Aesar stepped up behind them on the other side of Belmyrs. “There has been mages altering the weather on Senkei since the war, and our strange weather here is also altered by a mage. It’s a new prime we don’t know, who’s doing something that we have yet to know. We are not sure what his intentions are. I think we should work hard to find out what he wants, before something goes badly.”
“I want you to find out everything you can about this mage. Why is he doing this to us now of all times? Who is he?” Belmyrs turned his face towards Aesar instead, his head held high and in a commanding voice. “I know they have been altering the weather on Senkei, that’s one of the reasons the Kitsune live here.”
“Speaking of the Kitsune, I met one we’ve been looking for for centuries. The golden one they call Vaeril, he’s still living here on Esera.”
Elwyn walked up to her house and opened up the door. She hadn’t been home for many years, and it was strange to think she actually had a place to call her own. Aesar had sent his servants to clean her home before she had arrived this morning, even if she had told him not to. She knew he did it to be nice to her, but she didn’t want anyone to be talking about her. And servants surely would if they had to clean someone else’s house.
They had spent most of the evening talking to the king about the things going on in the world, and she had at some point been afraid they would bore the young king, but he had listened calmly. Later on had she realized he wasn’t bored at all, it simply was in his personality to be that calm. Like nothing in the world could make him upset.
She stepped inside her home and was met by a fresh scent of roses, something that reminded her of the day, of the roses in the royal garden. She knew it was Aesar who had made sure it would smell like that, because he knew she liked it. It was a romantic gesture from him, but she would ignore it.
It was an ancient elven belief saying all souls had a soul they were connected to, a soul mate, and in life after life would they belong together, most likely as lovers. In fact was, this was such a widely spread belief that other kinds of people believed in it too. Some would know straight away when they first saw their soul mate, others would take years to realize it. One could also live a whole life without meeting the special soul they were connected to, believing they were being punished for something bad they had done to the other in a past life.
Elwyn knew exactly why Aesar was doing what he did when no one else was around, because deep down his soul couldn’t care less if she was a bastard or related to him. She had felt the tug on her soul whenever she was around him, and knew why she always wanted to protect him. Even from their bond.
