The crowds piled through towards the school gates as the clock ticked ever so closer to the first bell. The constant chatter, the overcrowding of the front gate. It was getting a bit for Arthur but he was used to the stress of London's busy streets so he'd cope.
He was wearing the most comfortable clothes he could find in his wardrobe. A hoodie and some loosely fitting jeans. He wore the ring he had gotten from his father. It had small carvings inscribed on the band and a few dimly glowing blue stones in between each marking.
The bell screeched overhead and he started to head into the reception. The door was on a rusty hinge and squeaked as he pulled it open. A glum receptionist looked up above her desk and greeted him with a far from welcoming hello.
- Arthur POV -
"Hi, this is my first day, I was told to come here when the bell went. Am I in the right place?" I questioned nervously.
"Ah yes, Arthur right? I was told about your arrival. Why don't you go and sit over there? I'll go and grab Mrs Hughes." She perked up after realising she had a task for once, she strutted happily through the door and followed what looked like a small corridor with multiple offices on each side.
I sat down timidly on the cushioned bench. Although it felt like it had been under appreciated for a little too long. After around five minutes or so the oak door swung open and a cheery young lady asked me to follow her. I walked past around five or so offices before we came to a small office with Headteacher labelled on the front.
"So... Arthur. London to Cullen Bay eh? Big change." she asked with what seemed like a never wearing smile.
"Yeah, it's a lot smaller" I laughed, but it seemed like a poor joke.
I twilled with the ring trying to calm my nerves a little. I always got a little too anxious with these sort of things. It was a frustrating feeling, to say the least. I mean, I never really understood where the anxiousness came from, I'm quite the extrovert honestly. Maybe it comes from the fact I'm not used the smaller environment yet.
"So, I checked your grades. Really good results so far. We hope you keep those up here in Cullen Bay. We want our best for every student!" she paused and took a breath before starting again, "I for one hope you enjoy yourself here, I have asked for one of our students to show you around. You will be in the majority of her classes so it only makes sense!" she once again smiled and gestured for me to leave.
"Thanks!" I walked out of the office with a little more confidence in my walk and then ouch I walked into someone as I came around the corner.
"Well I imagine you're Arthur," she giggled and pushed her hair back into place.
"Yeah... Sorry about that! I didn't intend on walking into you." I laughed it off but deep down I was so embarrassed.
I looked up and caught her eye. She was stunning, a lot cuter than all of the girls at my old girl. Then again, there was way too many to keep count of them all. She had sparkly brown eyes and tightly curled black hair. Her skin was flawless, I genuinely couldn't find a bad side of her. Her smile was dream-worthy, complemented with cute dimples either side.
"Niamh, nice to meet you, Arthur!"
She extended her hand out but she quickly withdrew and lightly hugged me. I was hooked, she was adorable. She turned and I followed her out the door.
"So, you're from London? I like your accent. It's cute! Why Cullen Bay though? Of all the places!"
"Well, I guess it was just a quick decision. My mum thought it'd be a nice way to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life. So here I am."
"I see, that's cool. I moved here when I was much younger. I've been stuck to the place ever since. It's as though it refuses to let me leave," she smiles and reveals those wonderful dimples once again.
We had reached the first classroom at this point. It was my English class, something I enjoyed. Niamh invited me to sit next to her. A guy from across the classroom stared me down and gave me a dirty look. Maybe another one of those elderly people, I chuckled to myself.

The bell rang, it was lunch. Finally, I was so hungry. I sat down at a table on my own and opened up the sandwich box my mum had packed for me this morning. It was full of what I usually loved, she was the best mum ever.
However, before I could even take a bite of the sandwich a large hairy hand had grabbed me by the shoulders and dragged me out my seat he pushed up to the nearby window and looked me up and down, smirking.
"That's weird, I don't know whether you're hitting on me or trying to intimidate me," I laughed, yeah a very bad reply on my behalf.
He dropped my shoulders and loaded into my stomach. It aired me, but I could take it. My ring lit up blue, I was shocked at first. It had never done that before. I used my ring and hit him as hard as I could, I didn't know where I'd hit but at the least, I would look good if I gave a bit of effort trying to fight back. When I made contact with his upper torso he flew back into the chair I was sat in. I looked at my fist and investigated the glowing blue ring but it was back to normal as though nothing had happened. Weird.
Not long before the fight broke out a teacher had come over and stood between us.
"What the actual fuck are you guys doing?" he questioned.
The swearing took me by surprise but I suppose it was a bit of an unnecessary punch to my stomach. The teacher grabbed the boy from the floor and took him away. I guess they didn't see me in the wrong, so I simply went to sit back down. I took a bite out of my sand and waited for the bell to go.
It is going to be a long day today.

Author's notes:
Me again! I hope you enjoy the new chapter. It took me a little time to get right but it should hopefully start to get you all thinking! I'll try to keep chapters regular so we can get into the main storyline quicker but I make no promises.
Thanks for reading!
