“Bird again," commented Jin.
Hearing his friend’s remarks, Nero’s shoulders twitched.
“You always paint birds. Do you want to be a bird? Or do you want to grow wings or something?” asked Jin half-jokingly.
Nero looked at his friend’s direction while making a face like he was looking at something incredibly silly.
“Of course not, stupid.”
A high school student drew paintings of birds in the hope of growing wings himself sounds quite hilarious. It even almost sounds like an occult.
Soon after that, Nero put down his brush and began to tidy up his painting tools. While waiting for his friend to finish up, Jin took out his phone and begun to open a certain website called StreamTuve. It was a popular place to stream and upload various videos, especially music videos.
After scrolling up some videos, his right thumb landed on a certain music video. As soon as he tapped the screen, the video began to play. Since Jin did not wear earphones and his phone’s speaker was set in high volume, the sound was loud enough to make Nero frown.
The intro sounded like rock music, but it was slower in tempo. The song was not as upbeat and there were the touches of piano here and there. When the singer started to sing, her voice came in clear, but emotional.
Despite his furrowed brows, the music from the video actually caught Nero’s attention as he walked closer to see what Jin was watching on his phone. The screen showed an animation of an anime-style blue-haired girl in twin-tails wearing a white dress, chains on both of her legs, and a pair of white wings on her back. The setting looked like she was singing inside a huge, white birdcage.
Maybe, that day will come
Where the snow in your heart will melt
That day is without doubt
Will be the day you find the name of the most beautiful flower
In the end, Nero tagged along to watch the video until it finished.
“Who is this singer?” asked Nero.
“Hm? You don’t know about her?”.
Nero’s question was answered by another question. Since Nero seriously did not know anything about it, he just shook his head in response.
“Figures, you have no interest in music after all.” Jin sighed and then he explained to Nero. “She has been popular recently in StreamTuve. A virtual singer, [Canary]. She started uploading MV just a few months ago, but her subscribers are already so many.”
“I see,”.
Despite the interest that he showed, Nero’s response was somehow lacking.
Jin locked his phone and put it inside his pocket. Then, he looked at his friend.
“By the way, are you done?” asked Jin to Nero who was still holding a palette on his right hand all this time.
“Now that you mention it….”
His attention was stolen by the music video that he forgot to clean up.
After a while, Nero finally finished his tidying up business including closing the window. The two of them exited the room and locked the door. After they placed the room’s key back at the faculty office, the two of them head home.
