Lost Daughter

The black van was crowded with fear, mostly coming from me. My fear suddenly took over, I suddenly became aware of the danger I could be in.

" Where are you taking my parents!" six-year-old me asserted, as one of the female officers tried putting my seatbelt on me. I put on a good struggle before she managed to finally tame me.

"we're taking them to a vacation," she replied, the moment she was sure I wouldn't budge from my spot. I was a kid, not an idiot. I could smell her lie from a mile away, and her fake smile wasn't masking much.

"Liar," I demanded. "Mom and Dad never take breaks!" The two officers that sat next to me were puzzled and looked at each other as they tried to determine their next move.

"Look kid, so what if they're not on vacation what you gonna do about it," snickered the officer that sat in front of us, the Toyota HiAce made it impeccably hard for me to reach him, cause at that moment the only thing I was thinking about was how I was gonna get my hands on him. I flapped in my seat as I tried to unbuckle my seat belt, whilst the van was still in moving motion. When I was finally set free I launched at the evil man, but I was yanked back by the nice officer lady that sat next to me. She held me in her arms and cradled me like the child I was. The officer in front of us just stared back at me with menacing eyes, he wanted me gone as much as I did.

"Why are you treating her like a child?" he questioned, with a look of disapproval dawned upon his face.

"because she is a child!" the nice lady replied as she placed both her hands on the side of my ears in an attempt to block my hearing.

"she's a drug lord's daughter, that can't be called a child." he cited.
"fuck you Stan." the female hurled as she tightened her grip on my head.

" no, fuck you, Luna! you and I both know that her druggy parents could care less about their shit of a daughter!" he replied, his response was followed by silence none of the other officers on the Toyota said a thing, it was dead silent and through the quiet, we could hear the mumbling of the air conditioner that hummed its way in the car.

"fuck!" Stan said as he turned his head to face the front of the car. Luna suddenly let go of my head and set me back in my seat and tightened the seatbelt for the second time. I sniffled my nose and curled up in the seat trying to look as small as possible.

" luna do you think I'm... shit?" I asked, completely aware of the fact that I just spat profanities. The other passengers quickly looked at me then at Stan then back at me.

"don't say that." Luna countered."your parents were nice people they just made bad decisions," she stated, and Stan rolled his eyes in response.

"it's ok to cry Kory." luna announced. She leaned from her seat and gave me a hug, her bulletproof vest was grinding against my face, and I tried holding back tears I never knew I had.

" the Kershaw family never cries," I added.

"oh... Kory" Luna said with a pitying tone in her voice.

"you're right ... the Kershaw family ... never cries," she repeated.

"I'll get you into a new family and you'll be able to cry all you want!" she giggled as she tried to lightened the mood. I smiled at her, but it wasn't funny. Soon after the air conditioner took over our laughter, not even Stan said a thing.
