"Good Night, Clare Point View! You guys are awesome!" Leticia shouted to the crowd. The spotlight dimmed down which concluded The Apple Queens' performance.
Leticia and her band felt at ease when they escaped to the backstage. She could hear the crowd still shouting for band and her name. It is amazing how a little fast acting glue can work wonders to fix a broken high heel shoe. Leticia would not allow her band mate, Raleigh, to cover for her just over her boots dilemma.
A lot of moving around needed to prepare for the next band to perform. Leticia led her band backstage onward to the artist lounge where the other festival bands hanging out. She took a deep breath to relax with Dakota being close by. Her other three band mates, Kiki, Cho, and Raleigh followed behind the two of them. The performance was a success, at least in her point of view that is. After they dealt with their instruments, the band split off to different areas around the green room. Leticia is chill about her bandmates doing whatever they want. Kiki headed to go get some water for herself, Cho and Raleigh went off to a quieter part of the room, and Dakota headed to find a place for her to go smoke. Leticia is once again alone on to search to find her boyfriend, Trenton.
While she was walking, a tall handsome guy bumped into her, and she almost tripped. Leticia firmly replanted herself to the ground and looked up at the guy. The guy apologized and straightened his white t-shirt, then he opened his mouth to speak.
"Hey, can I have your number of your smoking hot rhythm guitarist over there? " The guy's eyes glanced over to her band mate, Raleigh. Leticia looked over to see Raleigh and Cho conversing with each other in sign language. She sighed because it was the fourth guy this week who tried to get Raleigh's number. Raleigh is the 'face' of the Apple Queens, despite Leticia is the one singing most of the songs. Leticia hated it, but she had to learn to live with the fact the attention was not always about her all the time.
" Um... She is right there? Why don't you ask her?" Leticia told the guy as she saw no harm to introduce a guy to Raleigh since he is a fellow musician. Raleigh needed to live a little with her uptight and awkward self.
What the worst that can happen sending the boy towards Raleigh's way?
Leticia watched the tall guy mustering up the courage to talk to Raleigh. She saw Cho leaving Raleigh for a second, then the guy made a move over. Leticia observed the interaction between Raleigh and the guy to make sure he doesn't do something funny. As the two of them chatted with each other, Leticia soon noticed that the interaction went from good to sour quick.
Suddenly she heard the guy said, "Bitch". Leticia saw Raleigh moving backwards away from the guy, trying to avoid him. The guy didn't give up and insisted to stalk after Raleigh. The guy's face looked red like a tomato, then tried to grab Raleigh's arm in haste. It didn't take too long for Leticia to get involved with this. She marched over between the two before the guy tried to manhandled Raleigh. Leticia moved her foot and stepped on the guy's foot to get him to stop bothering Raleigh. She gave an icy glare at him as guy whined in pain and still angry. Leticia didn't filch when the guy gave her the same stare back.
"Is there a problem here?" Leticia asked the guy as she turned her glance at Raleigh, then back at the guy.
"I'm just being friendly here, you now? Your little troublemaker band mate is the problem. I just wanted her number and maybe meet up at a hotel together later. She should be grateful that people like me, even give her attention." The guy answered Leticia. Leticia then which glance back at Raleigh to learn her side of the story.
"I told him to leave me alone. He started making feel me uncomfortable. I already saw this dude twice before earlier today, and he kept on following me even after I asked him to leave. " Raleigh used her voice as her hands were trembling while she told Leticia this. Leticia knew she had to handle this in a way to get this guy off Raleigh's case. Just hearing the guy's sudden change of behavior was enough for Leticia to go by to try scaring him off.
"Look, could you just leave my band mate alone? She isn't interested in you. You already made your move more than twice and she said, no. Now fuck off, you creep." Leticia spoke in a harsh tone. She had no patience dealing with entitled people tonight. Leticia removed her feet off the guy's foot so he could get away from them.
The guy rolled his eyes, then waved his hand at the two girls and said, "Whatever. I thought you girls were 'easy' girls like the rumors claimed. It's not like you 'Apple Bitches' are relevant, anyway."
When the guy turned around and left, Leticia flipped her middle finger at him in response. She grabbed Raleigh's arm as the two of them walked the opposite way from the guy. Leticia knew all the insults towards her band, The Apple Queens. Colorful insults included: "Apple Bitches", " Apple Whores", " Apple Tramps", and many derogatory names since the band started getting traction. Being an all-female band had its struggles. All Leticia knew that this was the last time she suggesting a guy to Raleigh again. When the two of them finally got a quiet spot away from everyone. Raleigh finally spoke up when Leticia and she stopped walking.
"Leticia? Did you introduce that guy to me?" Raleigh asked, putting her hands on her hips.
"Um..." Leticia didn't look at Raleigh’s face, instead just looked to where Raleigh's sliver lip piercing is. She felt bad that she tried to play matchmaker when she shouldn't do that.
"Leticia?!" Raleigh blurted, which snapped Leticia's attention back to her.
"What?! I didn't know that this guy would be an asshole! Can you at least be thankful that I saved you there?!" Leticia crossed her arms and turned her head away from her.
"Fine. Thanks. Just never do that again. " Raleigh replied, but it didn't sound like it was sincere.
The pain from Leticia's head hit her like a someone had smashed with a hammer! Leticia lost her balance for a moment, leaning to one side and moving backwards one step. Leticia felt Raleigh grabbing her arm, holding her back to keep her from falling to the ground. Luckily, this headache didn't last too long before Leticia re positioned herself and rubbed her head.
"Hey, are you okay?" Raleigh pulled her arm to direct her a chair for Leticia to sit down and rest. However, Leticia didn't want to sit down and declined the chair.
Leticia firmly stood up as a smirk appear on her face. She released her arm from Raleigh's hand, waving her hand, showing to Raleigh that she is fine.
"Yeah, Yeah. I'm good, Princess." Leticia answered her back as she looked around her surroundings to see if any other performers seen her moment of weakness.
She heard a little scowl coming from Raleigh when she said the name, 'Princess'. Raleigh hated being called ' Princess'. Leticia only did it to tease Raleigh because the Apple Queens' fans nicknamed her as 'Ice Princess'.
Not too far away from where Raleigh and Leticia sat, Leticia finally saw Trenton was nearby them. However, Leticia's blood boiled when she not only found Trenton, but he was with another girl. She had seen this brown-haired girl around the festival. This girl also helped Leticia with her broken high heel dilemma by having a glue bottle on her.
"What was this girl's name again? Oh, right... Amelia Alecsandri?" She ran through all the thoughts in her head to remember who was this girl.
Why this girl who helped her is trying to steal her man?
Leticia noticed Amelia is standing awfully close to her boyfriend. Amelia is giggling and whispering in his ear, which made Leticia's eyes went wide in horror. Leticia then felt a sense of anger rise like the heat rising through a thermometer.
"What the hell does that bitch think she is doing?" Leticia's thoughts raged even more when she saw this sight. She wanted to slap this girl right here and now.
She marched away from Raleigh, which Raleigh had tried to pull her arm to keep her back in place. But it was no use. There is no way to stop angry Leticia from wanting to tear down a girl trying to take her man. As Leticia butted into Trenton and Amelia's conversation, she gave Amelia a death glare and stood right next to her. Trenton looked confused but moved back to give Leticia more space to join them.
"Leticia, hey, girl. You know Amelia, right?" Trenton said. Leticia kept her focus on Amelia, who had a cheery radiance glowing around her.
"Yeah and what are you two are talking about?" Leticia continues give a chilly reception at Amelia. Her hand clenched into a fist as she imagined punching the girl in the face.
"Hi, Leticia! You're the girl that helped with that little fashion emergency. I was just talking about how lovely the weather is here around this time of year and maybe that Trenton and I can, ya know? Hang out." Amelia's smile awkwardly and moved away a little from Leticia. Leticia couldn't give a damn how nervous she is making Amelia. Her scary presence made it clear that Trenton is off limits.
"Well, that's all nice you know. He's my boyfriend. He's mine, so keep your paws off of him." Leticia said bluntly to Amelia. This prompted Trenton to pull her aside to explain.
"Leticia, can we not do this? We're just talking. Not flirting with each other. Chill. Nothing is going on between us." Trenton whispered in Leticia's ear as Leticia looked back at Amelia who is red in the face in embarrassment.
"Wait, he's taken!? Oh my gosh, I didn't know! I'm so sorry! I'll back off." Amelia apologized, bowing her head in shame.
"Like you really are so--" Leticia is about to say to Amelia until her phone rang and she had to take it out to see who is calling. She glanced at the caller ID named Raphael. Leticia let the call go through voicemail for a moment. Leticia opened her mouth again to speak before excusing herself, "I'll deal with you later. I have to take this call."
Amelia is at least spared from Leticia's wrath for now. This time she had to leave the backstage to get some more privacy and excused herself out. Leticia went to a private space once again to check her phone once more. More texts came from her brother again. This time, he is applauding her about her band performance. Her heart felt lifted again to still remembered how supportive her brother is as always. Leticia read through all the messages until she read the last one saying:
I will wait for you outside the park to take you to the university after the festival ends tonight. It's time to make your choice. Will you join me tonight?
Leticia still wanted to know about the Rise of Light and what all the stuff Raphael is talking about earlier. She needed to decide now to sort this out. This is Leticia's chance. She typed her response and pressed send it to her brother, which said:
I'm in.
