Kazu and I finally met. I was so happy! My best friend is finally here with me. However, for some reason, I noticed he was overdetermined over something. Well anyways, our first class together is here. I'm currently taking a master's, while Kazu is in his final year. We went inside the classroom. Kazu called me and said, "Shalin, over here!" He is such a gentleman, he even pulled the chair for me! I was conscious because nobody wanted to sit near me this time, I looked at Kazu and…see? He also looks grumpy! Doesn't matter, he's all I need with me. The room suddenly became quiet, and the teacher entered. The teacher had a dark lonely aura!
He wore really simple clothes, and he had a lazy face. His hair and glasses were covering his face. He was even slouching! What's worst was the whole class was secretly laughing at him! First, they didn't want to sit with me, and now they're laughing at our teacher?! I got to do something. After class, I talked to the teacher, his name was Michael Bane. He was genuinely a nice person. I found out that he is shy. He has recently just become a professor. Come to think of it he didn't look that old too!
After a few months, of struggle, I finally was able to build an acquaintance with Mr. Bane. He is a nice person, I don't know why people are just so judgemental. It was really hard to watch everybody just snickering during his class. One day after class, I asked him, "Sir, do you want to change?" He paused for a moment, he wasn't naïve and stupid of course. We found out that ever since then, the other staff and students have been bullying him ever since he got the job. I was feeling angry and sad cause, he just wanted to genuinely teach, as he also said, he wanted to create a good learning environment. I honestly can't get enough of this society. I started to remember my past, where I would bring snacks to all my classmates, and they would still backstab me. It's such a cruel way of life, honestly.
I snapped out when I heard his reply, "Shalin, I want this change, do you have any advice?" I was all fired up, I even asked Kazu for his help and he also agreed! We were determined to give our professor a makeover. We spent the rest of the next few weeks at the mall, at a cafe, and even at a training park! We hang out, Sir Michael is fun to be with! I guess maybe because our age gap isn't that big. We first concentrated on his wardrobe, to be honest, I wasn’t good in male fashion but Kazu was here to save the day! Kazu was also determined somehow, I feel like both of them have a lot in common. Throughout our time together, we also practiced Sir Michael's posture! I didn't notice but the reason why he was always slouching was that he was so tall, and he had a good body fit. We did so much effort. We ended the day, after finishing our tasks!
After a week of no contact with Sir Michael, we were worried. I knew that he was probably preparing for another good impression after a short week break. We sat at our usual seats and waited for our new professor. When I glanced out the window, there was a huge crowd of girls. The door opened, and there stood a 6'2ft guy. He was wearing a black dress shirt with a grey tie. He had his hair brushed back and you can see his clear eyes because he changed to a contact lens. Everyone was shocked, some were confused as to who the guy was. I came up to Sir Michael to tell him he looked amazing of course! suddenly the girls were also surprised by my presence. I'm a bit glad that somehow the change boosted his confidence, but since the beginning, I just saw the potential. I mean everyone does. Sir was still a bit shy given his personality but he certainly had a different feel. "I owe it all to you," Sir Michael said, and I replied, "No it was all in you." I smiled and went back to my seat. As corny as it sounds like, it was all about his effort and his will to change for the better. Somehow, Sir Michael had reminded me of my past self. But, kidding aside I don't think I would be able to concentrate with all those people outside staring at Sir Michael, jeez, I just want a normal university life.
