After the first night of the festival was over, finding Raphael wasn't too hard for Leticia. She found her brother standing near his nice blue car parked on the curbside street near Crystal Park, waiting for her. Leticia smiled at her brother as she headed down towards him without saying a single word. She opened the car door to get inside and sat in the passenger seat while her brother was on the driver's side. Raphael started up the car and put it into gear, then drove off to their next destination.
Mount Ridge Bridge University is a big campus. It had four brick buildings. Two of them were for classes while the other two were regular office buildings. As Raphael drove far off from the buildings, the scenery changed where they entered the area where modern looking residential student dorms. Green pastures surrounded the huge football/soccer field nearby the student dorms. Raphael drove to the north side of the campus where they passed by a huge gray dome which was a hockey stadium. Leticia remembered that this area well since her band came over here to do a music video shoot for a single. For the entire ride, the two siblings didn't speak a word to each other.
Finally, Raphael parked his car in a parking lot near a brick building. Leticia opened the door on her side of the car then followed Raphael who was already out of the car. They walked in the building to find the room where the "Rise of Light" meeting place would take place.
Leticia and Raphael brushed passed two students on their way to find the meeting place. When Raphael found the room, he opened the door and invited Leticia in a huge lecture hall. Leticia's eyes went wide as she saw a large group of people hanging around the room. Most of them were young people about her age. Raphael tapped Leticia's shoulder to get her attention as she turned around to face her brother.
"Listen, I have to go help the other members. You just hang tight and just mingle with everyone else." Raphael told her. Then he headed down to the end of the room where he met with some Rise of Light members.
Leticia observed around the room as she paced herself through a group of people. She saw a tall young tanned man wearing baggy pants and a white t-shirt who was talking to a girl and a boy. Leticia recognized him as her old high school ex-boyfriend, Martin.
"What was he doing here?" She thought.
Leticia decided that she needed to be sociable and walked up to her former boyfriend. It wouldn't hurt to start a conversation with him to kill time.
"Martin?" Leticia greeted and waved at him.
" Oh, Leticia, hi! How is... um.... The band going?" Martin responded as Leticia's hands shook with awkwardness.
"Oh fine! We're doing just great. How are you? What brings you here?" Leticia asked she crossed her arms to her chest.
"I got a special invitation from this odd group. I was told that I had to be here to learn 'The Truth'. So I wanted to check it out." Martin tilted his head, rubbing his neck when he explained to her.
"The Truth?" Leticia thought. "What truth does he mean?"
Leticia noticed more people came into the room. The people either mingled with each other or went to find a seat to sit at. Among the people who entered, she recognized only two of them out of the bunch. These two people are Chantel Delisle and Darren Cross from the band called the NorthEasters. The music circle is small in this town, and everyone nearly knows each other. Heck, this is her boyfriend's band, so she knew all the members and often worked with them from time to time.
The NorthEasters are also The Apple Queens' label mate at their label, Crimson Crown Music Group for Indie Artists. At the very least, those two went to summer camp with her when she was eleven years old. Leticia has wondered why these two are here and what reason they came here for.
After she finished talking to Martin, she headed over to Chantel and Darren, who took their seats in the middle of the lecture hall. Leticia sat by them which she noticed the hint of irritation from Chantel's face. Darren seemed to ignore her existence and stared far into space.
"Hey, Chantel! Darren!" Leticia spoke up as Chantel's eyes shifted to her.
"What do you want, Leticia?" Chantel spat in a harsh tone.
" Woah, what wrong with you? I just said hi at least. Chill." Leticia backed off and sat back into her seat in defense.
"Just what are you doing here?"
"Um... I'm invited. To this, um, meeting by my brother." Leticia answered.
"Oh. Look, you can sit here as long you don't complain about silly shit like your nails being broken or something." Chantel's remarks offended Leticia as she bolted up from her seat.
"Excuse me?! I don't complain about my nails being broken all the time!" Leticia's voice rose enough to gain looks from people nearby the three. Leticia jumped up out of her seat and went over to Chantel's seat. Chantel got up as well to confront her, which prompted Darren to get in the middle between the two of them.
"Ji-a, now is not the time. Stay quiet." Darren told his friend as Leticia saw Chantel rolling her eyes, then went back to her seat. Leticia retreated to her seat, thankful that Darren stepped in before drama started between them.
Moments later, the lecture hall's lights dimmed as everyone went to find their seats and sit down fast. The projector lit up with a white screen and big black word spelled "TRUTH" on it. Leticia sees people looked and muttered to each other in confusion.
At the far end of the room, two women come out along with a couple young followers among them, including Raphael. The young followers with Raphael had name tags on them. One brunette curly-haired girl named Mercedes took her seat right next to Raphael followed by a short chubby man named Roland sitting at the end. The two women stand in front of the room to greet the audience. One of them is a bushy raven haired woman in a slick black business suit named Zarina. Zarina went to stand at the podium with smiles at everyone who came tonight.
"Good evening, everyone! My name is Zarina Monterosa, Recruitment Coordinator of the Rise of Light. This is my partner, Georgia Blanchet." Zarina directed to show the other woman who had blond hair, wearing a gray fancy dress and black sandals. "We all invited you here to learn more about us. Most of you have got our invitations from our three junior recruiters here." Zarina motioned her hand over the focus to Raphael, Roland, and Mercedes. "Thank you for coming, our lost ones!"
"Lost Ones?" Leticia heard the term and baffled.
Leticia wondered if she just walked in some self-help seminar. It's not the first time she had seen people like that. Being on the touring road, doomsday religious people and miracle doctors give her band pamphlets a lot. Often, these people would harass them until her band ran far away from them every time. But at least this thing doesn’t make Leticia run out her seat, and she felt she is in a safe place. She continued to watch Zarina talk as she continued to capture Leticia's attention.
"Any of you ever thought you finally found the truth in your lives?" Zarina inquired to the crowd.
Many people in the audience shook their heads or muttered a loud "no" in response to her question. As Zarina moved away from the podium, she showed a dominating posture which kept the audience's attention. All eyes are on this woman.
