4. “The Interpretation of Dreams…”

4. “The Interpretation of Dreams…”

Sep 02, 2020

That night she dreams about being back in high school.

She dreams about being in class about the age of 15. She is looking at a young Jeremy too. She is looking at him with an expression of anxiety. But she is brought out of her stupor by the history teacher asking her a question.

Mr. Farb- Ms. Babel!

She turns her head from looking at Jeremy.

Selma- Yes Mr. Farb.

She sees Jeremy turn his head to look at her being chewed out by the teacher. She blushes because she is getting in trouble in front of Jeremy.

Mr. Farb- Pay attention or your grade will slip. All this material will be in the test this Thursday. Now, after the Sector conflicts, the New Constitution was written by the 12 selected Abbas which gave birth to the common laws of the NAC.

Random student raises their hand and the teacher points at them to listen to their question.

Mr. Farb- Yes. Question?

Random student- Can we return to the downfall of the Old American Empire?

Selma stops paying attention to look at Jeremy.

Mr. Farb- Well before America was split up into sections… Some historians say that the Old America Empire was punished by the wrath of the lord for praising false Idols. Some other say that the citizens themselves began to become infected with some kind of evil.

Jeremy has the feeling that someone is looking at him so he turns to see that Selma is looking at him. He smiles at her. Selma quickly jerks her head to see the teacher.

Mr. Farb- Yes there’s a lot of answers about life before the NAC but It’s ok I won’t put a question like that in the test. That kind of question isn’t something something relevant to this course.

After the class ends. Selma makes sure she leaves fast so that she doesn’t have to walk with Jeremy and she can just have to wait for him outside.

Jeremy- Hey Sel-

Selma- Hey Jeremy! Sorry…

Selma Pauses. Selma cuts out Jeremy before he can finish saying her name.

Selma- I didn’t mean to interrupt you.

Jeremy just laughs it off.

Jeremy- Its fine, don’t worry about it. I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go out on a date with me?

Selma- A date? I don’t know I might be busy that day.

Jeremy- I haven’t even asked you when I could take you out though.

Selma- Sorry… You haven’t huh… Well when were you thinking?

Jeremy- How about this Sunday after mass?

Selma- After mass? I don’t know. Something might come up and I’ll have to help my mom. You know how parents can be.

Jeremy- Come on we’ll just go out for some coffee and maybe something else afterwords if you’re free.

She takes a second to think about it and is terrified at the thought about going on with a boy, she doesn’t know but she does like thinking about sitting in a cafe to drink coffee.

Jeremy- You’re not saying no

Jeremy smiles.

Selma- Ok fine… you convinced me Jeremy, but I can only go out for coffee, is that’s ok?

Jeremy- Yeah, that’s perfect.

Selma begins blushing but keeps a face of coldness, meanwhile Jeremy just smiles.

Jeremy- Oh, I forgot to tell you that it was going to be a double date, with one of my friends.

Her blush is gone.

Selma- Oh.

Jeremy- What’s wrong?

Selma- You didn’t tell me that other people were going to be there.

Jeremy- Does that make you nervous?

Selma- No, of course not.

Jeremy- If you get nervous, you can always hold my hand. Unless I make you nervous too.

Selma’s face becomes red.

Selma- You don’t make me nervous! I just… I just didn’t expect you to invite me to a double date.

Jeremy- Next time, It’ll be just you and me.

Selma- Me and you?

Jeremy- Yeah.

She has a big smile on her face as she is enveloped in a light.

An alarm goes off and Selma wakes up with dry tears.

Selma Walsh is quietly watching the execution of an old friend on live television. She watches, as he is solemnly escorted onto the guillotine with many bystanders cheering and berating him for a false accusation.

Follow Selma's transition from child to Woman in this unforgiving tale of violence and innocence. In the end, what does it all mean...

This is an upcoming comic but since we are both college students, I will just be uploading the script daily since it is complete.
