They all sat down and the waitress came over to take their order.

Jeremy- Let me get a coffee, Black.

Selma- Can I get coffee with two cubes of sugar.

Ashley- I’ll get an ice vanilla cappuccino.

Waitress- and you sir (looking at Daniel)

Daniel is just lost in his day dreams looking at Selma. Selma notices and tells him.

Selma- Hey, Daniel.

Daniel- My bad, yeh can I get a a coffee with a lot of vanilla creamer.

Waitress- No problem. I’ll be right back.

The waitress smiles and walks away.

Daniel smiles back but immediately goes back to looking at Selma.

Jeremy- I didn’t take you for someone who likes sweet things, Daniel.

Daniel- Why, what does it look like I would enjoy?

Jeremy- well… a more manlier drink like black coffee or a shot of espresso. Something with some hair on its chest.

Daniel takes offense to Jeremy’s comment but plays it cool.

Daniel- Nah, I don’t like bitter things. Never have.

Jermey- Well that’s a shame. Bitter things can always make a person a little more charming.

Daniel- Really?

Jeremy- Yeah that’s right.

Daniel and Jeremy look at each other, sizing each other up. Ashley breaks the tension.

Ashley- Jeez, You sound like an old man Jeremy. Ordering black coffee.

Jeremy- Ive been drinking it black since I was a kid, I’d never had that much of a sweet tooth.

Ashley- Is that why you’re so short?

Ashley snickers at Jeremy.

Ashley- What about you Selma? Just two sugar cubes sounds really bitter to me, do you have a sweet tooth?

Selma- Uh, no… not really.

[Daniel- I thought you were the sweetest thing.]

[Selma- That was a bad pun but thank you.]

[Daniel- I don’t know if that was a pun. I was just saying how I felt. Anyways we sat down and enjoyed our coffees but I swear he kept looking at me.]

[Selma- Maybe because you kept on looking at me!]

[Daniel- Look Im telling the story here. So… after awhile Jeremy had to leave suddenly because his family needed his help with their counseling office and Ashley also had to leave prematurely because something about her brother. Me and you stayed behind to finish our drinks.]

Daniel- Soooo, How long have you been dating Jeremy?

Selma- We aren’t dating.

Daniel pauses.

Daniel- Hmm, so why are you here?

Selma- I’m finishing my cup of coffee.

Daniel- No I mean, why did you come here, with him.

Selma- He asked me out but that’s about it, we hadn’t spent anytime together until today.

Daniel- I see. So you two aren’t together during your breaks in school?

Selma- No.

Daniel- If it makes you feel any better, I was just asked to come to this date too. I didn’t even know if Ashley knew my name until, like, three days ago. She just came up to me and asked me out.

Selma- Yeah that makes me feel better.

Daniel- Really?

Selma- No, of course not!

[Daniel- That was the first time you’ve shown me your angry face.]

Selma- God, I thought that this was going to play out better than this.

Daniel- What were you expecting?

Selma- I don’t know. Not this though.

Daniel- What? You didn’t think you spend time with a stranger?

Selma- Well yeah.

Daniel- I’m offended, you know my name. I think that qualifies me to no longer be a stranger. You would have been with a stranger if you were here with him anyways.

Selma- I guess.

Daniel- Yeh.

Selma takes one last sip from her coffee.

Selma- Ok then Daniel Walsh… it was nice meeting you and the rain stopped so I should be getting home.

She stands up but before she can leave, Daniel stops her.

Daniel- Wait, What way are you going?

Selma- Why do you want to know?

Daniel- I wanted to know so maybe we can walk together if I live in the same direction.

Selma takes a second to think.

Selma- I live east of the citadel.

(Side note: The citadel is a giant spear like building that pierces pass the clouds)

Daniel- That’s great I live in that direction.

Selma- Do you? I doubt that.

Daniel- Trust me.

They walk outside of the cafe and Daniel starts walking.

Selma- Wait! Thats the wrong way!

Daniel- That’s right, I get lost all the time.

Selma laughs.

Selma- No, I was kidding. It’s the right way.

Daniel looks at her and laughs too.

Daniel- You have a pretty smile.

Selma face gets red and immediately goes away with her cold face.

Selma- Shut up, don’t look at me like that!
