Eros woke remembering everything that happen the night before, smiled and looked down at the sleeping woman curled up next to him. His wing had extracted itself and wrapped around her. Her head laid on his torso and her arm wrapped around him as one leg draped over his while her hair was widely spread across his chest and her own face. He would be lying if he said he didn’t like the look and feel of it and her. He wanted to keep her with him, but he promised he would take her home and there was no telling what the council would do once they found out about it. He had to get her back home not just for her son but also for her safety as much as he hated it.
He carefully moved her and slowly retracted his wing as he climbed from the bed, he didn’t want to wake her just yet. Walking over to the closet he pulled out a blanket to cover her, he knew it was a sneaky move removing the blanket from the bed, but he didn’t regret it one bit. He would feed first and maybe find her something to eat. He would visit Jasper, even though they didn’t need to eat human food, Jasper had an infinitely for them and usually kept a stockpile in his home. He walked out back to his livestock holding shed, punched in the code, and locked the door behind him.
When he emerged, he was full and satisfied, he hoped she was still asleep and didn’t wander around looking for him. All seemed quiet when he walked back into the house; he listened from downstairs focusing solely on her. He could hear her steady breathing indicating she was still asleep, he decided to shower then head over to Jasper’s house. He would leave a note, so she didn’t worry if she woke before he got back.
He showered, dressed and out the house within twenty minutes, she still slept but he couldn’t blame her after the long night she had. He made sure to lock all the doors and windows were locked, he also set the alarm and ensure adjust the protection spell so that only him could enter the house. Everyone would have known that she was there by now and he didn’t want to take any chances of someone getting into his home and taking her from him.
Instead of walking he flew over to Jasper’s home to not only avoid people but to make the trip as quick as possible. He stopped in front of the huge oak door and banged on it. Jasper opened the door and looked him up and down while chewing on an apple before moving aside so he could come in. He wondered if she liked apples.
“Is the human hungry?” Jasper asked while he laughed.
Eros eyes flashed red, which cause Jasper to hold his hands up, and back away, a big smile still adorned his face. “You are already touchy over this human; I hear she is quite beautiful. For a human, of course.”
“I need for food and you don’t need it.” He looked at Jasper.
“Sure, take as much as you need,” he pointed towards his kitchen, “Can I meet her? I have always wanted to talk with one without scaring them.”
Eros looked at the different things Jasper had and had no idea where to start, he didn’t want to take something she wouldn’t like or ate. Jasper walked up and took out a bag, “She would like these.” While placing a few different fruits, crackers, cheeses, and bottles of water in it.
When he was done, Eros took the bag and walked out to leave. Jasper called after him, “So, can I meet her.”
“No.”
He flew straight back to the house food in hand, “Fuck, I thought I would have more time.” There was a mob of people were walking toward his house. He sped up to the house ensuring to lock and bolt it after he got in. She was sitting on the steps with her arms wrapped around her knees, she jumped up as soon as he came in. “Hi, morning, I mean goodnight,” she gave him a small smile before continuing, “I read your note thank you for leaving it.”
She was worried still; he could see it all over her face. “Were you worried?” he asked.
“No, not at all.” she tried to hide her smile.
He laughed. He walked up to her and ran his hand across her cheek. His heart did flips when she slightly leaned into his touch. By his ancestor, she was beautiful.
“Come on, I got you something to eat.” He took her hand and led her to the kitchen.
The kitchen was like her own except he his island was massive compared to hers. Unlike his bedroom, the kitchen was a mix of black and grey. Everything was black except for the large marble island top and the floor tiles.
“Wow” she said as she looked around. She was already imagining all the things she could cook and bake in the kitchen.
“Like it?” he asked as he lifted her to sit on the island. She could have sat at the table near the large floor to ceiling window that was position directly ahead as one entered the kitchen. However, the image of her in his t-shirt while sitting on the island was something, he wanted etched in his mind.
He handed her the bag and let her rummage through it, she crossed her legs in front of her and thanked him as she took the bag and she pulled out the pear then bit into it. “Oh my god, that is so good.” She moaned as her eyes drifted closed and took another bite. She opened her eyes to him staring at her.
“If you want me to take you home, don’t do that again,” He growled as his eyes turned a deep dark purple.
Her face turned a deep red, “Sorry, I’m just really hungry.” She looked down at the bag in front of her.
She pulled took another bite forcing down the moan that threaten to escape, her eyes drifted shut as she savoured the taste. He stood in front her, put his hands on her waist and pulling her into him. Her eyes popped open looking at him.
“You, bir tanem should not tempt an Incubus.” His hands tightened around her waist.
“What does that mean and why?”
“Because we are hypersexual and with you, I would lose control and fuck you for hours on end without stop until you pass out. And even then, I would simple wait then you gain conscious and do it again until I’m sated.”
She stared at him with the pear loosely pressed against her mouth as if she forgot it was there.
She cleared her throat, “Ok and hi… I mean bir tanem means?”
He smiled, “We are leaving soon. They will be here soon.”
He forced himself away from her.
“Do you always do that or is it just me?” she asked him
“Do what?”
“Don’t answer questions you are asked.” She opened the bottle of water and drank the entire bottle before opening the second one.
“Just you.”
“Ha-ha, funny. Look at you with a sense of humour. Can you at least tell me who will be here soon?”
His doorbell chimed just as she finished asking.
“Them.” He responded and walked out towards the front door, she followed.
She gasped as she saw the number of Incubus and Succubus outside instinctively, she moved closer to Titan. He liked that she did that, that she knew she was safe with him.
“Go get your things.”
Her arms were wrapped around her as she nodded and went to the stairs. She stopped and turned around to look at him, her eyes were filled with worried and searched his for confirmation.
“I’m taking you home, don’t worry.” He reassured her, “Come on.”
She nodded again and ran up the stairs. She came back quickly with her bag across her shoulders and her shoes on. She still wore his t-shirt and had her clothes in her hand. He took her hand again not because he needed too but he liked the way her hand felt in his. He took her to the basement and told her to wait while he moved a bookshelf that revealed a door. He quickly punched in a code and the door slid open, he took her hand again and led her through the dark tunnel.
The tunnel he built with his own hands after the house was completed was going to be the safest way to get her out. He couldn’t risk taking her into the void, it would have been much faster, but the void was no place for a human. Especially for someone like Zuri, she was too good, too pure he knew it the second he saw her. He surmised that was the reason that Dimitra took her because of the light that radiated from her.
The things that lived in the void would consume her completely there would be nothing left of her. And while travelling through the void took mere seconds, inside the void was hours only demons knew the various path to take, their minds illumined the path they needed to take. And they travelled the void alone or no more than two, a group attracted then things that live there and became deathly for them.
The tunnel was his own secret escape in case something ever happened that warranted its use. Then tunnel stretched from his home to the other side of the kingdom, mainly near the second set of flood tunnels that were no longer in use. He would be able to use the access shaft he rigged with his own access code to get her away from her. He would have her safely home before they even searched this far. When they emerged, he didn’t waste any time but quickly extracted his wings and lifted her into his arms.
She tightly wrapped her arms around his neck, and he made for the access shaft and entered the code while holding her in one hand. Once it was opened, he sped away and headed for Brooklyn.
By the gods, we’re flying, she thought. If I’m dreaming, I will kill Ari for whatever it is she puffed in my direction. She tightened her grip and kept her face buried in Titan’s neck although she was cold from the night air and how fast he was going she didn’t want to complain. Maybe she should have put her pants back on, but she couldn’t stand the dirty thing being back on her skin.
She felt him pull her closer into him and couldn’t help but smile. She still couldn’t believe that things that go bump in the night were real but here she was flying home in the arms of one. And a part of her was sadden that she may never see him again. Despite being initially scared of him, she liked him and the night with him was pleasant and memorable. If this were a date, she would hope for a second regardless of how it first started.
“Bir tanem, where do you live?”
“Huh? Oh, that was fast.” She opened her eyes and quickly shut them; she couldn’t look so she told him the address.
He laughed, “Are you afraid of heights?”
Her grip tightened even further, “No, I just don’t care for them.”
He chuckled and turned in the direction of her apartment building. “I will not let anything happened to you, bir tanem.”
She nodded into his neck, “I know, it’s the only reason I’m up here with you.”
He took some time before he landed on the side of her building, it was a narrow spacing between the two buildings, but it was wide enough for him to land and not be seen. He carefully placed her down, she was home he kept his promise bringing her back to her son. She should be happy so why wasn’t she? Of course, she was happy to be able to be with her son again when he came home at the end of summer. She couldn’t imagine being apart from him but walking away from Eros felt wrong and projected a pain that shouldn’t be there this soon and certainly not after one day.
When she looked up, he was looking at her, his eyes a stormy grey. “I guess I should go.”
He didn’t say anything only continued staring at her. “Eros?” she called as she lightly touched his arm.
“I should have kept you,” he stated while taking the bracelet of her hand.
She shook her head and smiled, “They wouldn’t have let you,” remembering the group outside in house.
“Would you have stayed?”
“I would have missed my son too much.”
He folded his arm in front of him, “I have five bedrooms and I’m good with my hands.”
She threw her head back as she laughed; he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her. “You laugh at me, woman.”
“Nope.” She said still laughing.
He playfully growled at her, her laughter slowed to a smile and she brought her hands up to his face shifting the hair from his eyes. She felt the shudder that ran through his entire body and in that moment, she couldn’t remember ever wanting to kiss someone as much as she wanted to him.
“If I kiss you, bir tanem I would not let you go,” he placed her back on the ground, “Go inside now.”
It shouldn’t bother her this much, shouldn’t hurt this much to walk away from a stranger. A literal demon but it did more than she thought imaginable. She didn’t say anything more she turned and walked away.
“Bir tanem.”
She spun around quickly to look at her, “Yes?”
He walked up to her and took her wrist, placing the bracelet back on it.
She looked down at the wrist spinning it with her fingers, “What about the spell?”
He lifted her chin, so she was looking at him, her eyes threatening to tear, “I took it off, it is for remembering now.”
“Thank you.”
“Never thank me Zuri.”
She turned and for the second time walked away from him, he didn’t want her to thank him, but she would always be thankful. Thank for that the gods led her to him, thankful he saved her, thankful he existed and for he was. Rare and beautiful.
