Act 3:

The trio stepped through the chamber and jumped through the tear in space.

On the other side, they see the same room but no onsite crew, just an empty room with the same chairs along the wall. They exit the transport room and go towards the lobby room, which they entered the building from. They see several operatives, walking around, seeing other teams relaxing, playing cards, and entertaining themselves. They take the escalator down and scan their IDs to open the gate leading outside. The gate rises and they see what would usually be their blue sky, tinted red. The pavement dried up and barren shared the same color. They see two military officers and head towards the cargo truck. These men escort them out of Chiyoda and release them once they get to the entry gate of the Ward.

As soon as they leave the truck, the communication device on the back of their necks turns on and initializes.

The device shoots a needle into the spinal cord and suddenly they hear a voice in their head.

“Hey, is this working correctly? Hello, you three! I’m Sukina, I’ll be your operator for today. Akihiro’s been running missions daily so he understands how this device works. We recently started using this instead of earpieces because of the number of times, certain people would break it or drop it. Sorry if you guys felt any pain, but your kinetic operatives so it couldn’t have been that bad.

As you heard, your mission today is just to survey Chiyoda City and Shibuya City. Destroy any anomalies you see, and come back with whatever findings.” Sukina says with a cheerful tone.

Akihiro, Saito, and Tsubaki all agree at the same time and say.

“Understood, mission start!”

They split up and race through the streets of Chiyoda City. Saito raced towards Minato, Akihiro in the direction of Shinjuku, and Tsubaki towards Chou.

Saito runs through the streets unsheathing his spring-loaded katana. He stops at the end of a block and scans nearby streets. He stumbles upon one street with a couple dozen anomalies and slashes through the weaklings with ease. He sees another one spawn in front of him and jumps towards it. He front flips with blade in hand and slices through the unknown figure. He sheathed his blade and ran off to continue checking the nearby streets. We cut to Akihiro, jumping from building to building leading to Shinjuku. As he jumps over the building gaps, he uses his gauntlets to shoot iron wires and latches onto the rooftops. He sees a bigger than normal size anomaly and readies his fist. The anomaly runs towards him with a mighty charge, Akihiro shoots some iron threads from his gauntlets at the street poles nearby and trips the anomaly. The anomaly tries to get up but before it can Akihiro appears before and lets loose a buckshot at its face. The anomaly dissipates and a crystallized shard of bone dust appears on the ground. He gives a smile and collects it. We switch to Tsubaki fighting waves of anomalies on the platform at the Hatchobori station. She unsheathes her blade and slashes through her targets. Another wave tries to flank her, she sheathes her blade and twirls her sheath. She unsheathes a short sword from the other end of her sheath and throws it at her targets. The short sword hits a target and bursts into flames. She holds out her palm, moving her fingers, the blade returns to her engulfed with flames and travels around the battlefield on its own. She clicks her bracelets as ignitors and sparks a natural flame. She twirls and sends out a heatwave to the rest of the remaining wave of anomalies. After a few minutes of running around clearing waves of anomalies, over the communication device. Saito suggests they meet up at Omote-Sando station. A gust of wind starts to envelop Tsubaki and she springs into the air, jumping from every building at quickened speeds. Akihiro runs through the street, using the buckshot from his gauntlets to propel him forward. Saito sprints and jumps off a storage container and launches himself onto the telephone wires. He starts skating across the wires and gains speed.

The three of them see each other in the distance racing towards the meetup point. As they all land at their location, they begin to talk to each other.

Akihiro bursts into laughter and says.

“You guys are pretty quick, my hands are a bit tired from using my buckshot to propel myself all the way here.”

Tsubaki retorts with.

“It wasn’t a race you know. We weren’t gonna leave you behind, even if we wanted to.”

Saito says with a wide smile.

“I didn’t think I’d have to skate the telephone wires just to keep up with you, Tsubaki. It seems you’ve gotten more agile and faster now, thanks to your wind traits.”

Tsubaki counters with.

Even if you are a lightning user now, it’s still dangerous to skate the telephone poles. You could’ve just ran over and tapped into your lightspeed right?”

“Well, you are right. But I factored in the voltage and lowered my output, so I think it’s fine. Gotta use your environment effectively.” Saito says smugly.

Tsubaki looks like she wants to respond but she doesn’t give the two fools any time of day. She points towards Shibuya and says.

“Shouldn’t we start heading over to Shibuya so we can get this mission over with? I have something to do and I don’t really wanna stay in Alter Space for much longer.”

“Speaking of which, Tsubaki. We saw you at the fabric shop earlier in Minato, saw you pick up an order.” Akihiro teases.

Tsubaki starts blushing super hard and retaliates with a swift punch to Akihiro’s gut.

Saito tries to keep together a smile and says.

“I heard you got a boyfriend and got him a gift from the fabric store. It sounds like he’s a real catch, I hope he likes it!”

Tsubaki’s heart sinks a bit and feels really guilty. She attempts to give her reasoning and is interrupted by a loud screech in the distance. A beep comes from their communicators and whispers enter their heads.

“This is Sukina here! We’re seeing a huge spike of anomalies near the Shibuya 109 building. They seem to be fusing together to become a larger entity. Please get over there and eliminate it before it becomes a bigger threat.” Sukina requests.

Tsubaki ruffles her hair and stomps on the pavement. She lets out a battle cry and says.

“Now, I’m pissed. Enough talking and let’s head over there already.”

Saito and Akihiro give a nod to the enraged girl and run towards Shibuya at full speed.

They see the large anomaly and it takes the form of a Wyvern. It gives another large screech and descends upon with a mighty claw swipe to the trio. Tsubaki jumps over to the left and stands atop a building. Saito jumps over to the right and remains knees locked on the side of a building. Akihiro remains on the ground, heels dug into the ground, holding the claw in place. Akihiro begins pushing forward and unload buckshot after buckshot as smaller anomalies dissipate from the huge abomination. Each buckshot leaving a puddle of mercury, he binds the target as he manipulates the metal. Tsubaki jumps from the building and unsheathes both blades, she cleaves through with her katana. She lands and moves her hand to guide her short sword into the wound she just made. The sword plunges into the wyvern and explodes from the inside. A darkened shard of crystallized bone dust reveals itself and it’s time for the team to act. Saito sheathes his Katana and clips some iron thread on the hilt of the blade and attaches it to his sheath. He shoots his sheath through the giant Wyvern and it sticks into the ground. The thread begins to retract with great force and Saito is sent flying forward towards the beast. He lines up for a slice as the wound begins to close up. Tsubaki releases another burst of flame from the short sword stopping the wound from closing up. Saito’s katana begins to shine a bright blue light as he feeds electricity to the blade. He cleaves through the shard, and breaks through it and reaches the ground where he places his katana in the sheath and digs out his sheath from the concrete ground. The huge wyvern anomaly vanishes and the crystallized shard falls to the ground. Tsubaki calls her short sword to her hand and sheaths both her blades. Akihiro takes out some vials from his tactical vest and calls the mercury to him. The three of them, huddle in front of the dark crystallized shard and weigh the chuck of it in their arms.

“Well looks like we got a good payout. The science department back at the branch is gonna love this. But it makes me wonder. Why did they fuse into a wyvern? That’s not really normal for this branch, we’ve only seen this type show up in Europe.” Akihiro says.

“It’s not completely uncommon to see an anomaly just fused into a different form. They usually take the form of giants but maybe they’re adapting.” Tsubaki responds not too confidently.

“Well enough about that. I’ll deploy the carrier so we can collect the chunk. Should we stay in the area to check for more or should we head back?" Saito asks.

Sukina cuts in and comments.

“Good job, you guys! I’m glad I have such a competent team. We’ve scanned the area and nothing appears on the maps. No energy spikes or anything. Alter Space doesn’t have too many threats like it did back then so the survey mission is basically complete. We’ll send a vehicle to extract the shards, we’ll have Saito stay back and keep watch of it. As for Tsubaki and Akihiro, come on back to base as fast as you can.

Tsubaki and Akihiro nod to each other and say their goodbyes to Saito.
