I stood staring at the beautiful woman in bed who was fast asleep. “You’re nuts. I’m leaving.” I tried to make a dash for it out the door, but the king wrapped his arm around my waist to stop me. “Get the hell off of me!”
Leah came over and gently put her hand on my shoulder. “It’s your destiny to be here. We pulled you out of your world to replace Gwendalyn. Maybe you should explain King Lee.”
s “Very well.” He grumbled. “Our kingdom is in the midst of a war, if word gets out that the Queen is dying our support would fall apart, effectively ending the thousand year reign of the Lee family.”
“What does this have to do with me?!” I demanded, staring at the door trying to find a new escape route.
Leah piped up again, “Honey you were pulled out of your world to replace Queen Gwendalyn. She isn’t long for this world, you will be taking over being Queen so the kingdom doesn’t fall apart.” She paused to gauge my reaction. “I know this is a lot to take in.”
“Ok, but that doesn’t explain, why me? Why can’t some other random girl run this shit show?” I need to get out of here, everyone here is nuts.
“You and Gwendayln are the same person so to speak.” Leah continued, guided me back over to the dying Queen. “See? Take a look at her, she looks like you for a reason.” She gestured to the queen. “Dear, you are the same person but from another world, or universe so to speak. Have you ever heard of the Multiverse Theory?”
“Yeah. I have.” To be honest I’ve always been interested in the theory myself, but this still doesn’t make sense.
“See, out of all the different worlds you are the last living version. Unfortunately your destiny is doomed. All versions of you are doomed to die. I felt it as soon as Gwendalyn started getting sick.” She wiped a tear from her face. “She has a sickness that is not curable, even in your world, for she is fated to die.”
“W-What?!” To say I was shocked at this news would be an understatement. “N-no, I want to go home.” My face went pale as I tried to dash out the door again, only to be caught by King Lee again. This time my face mushed against his chest, to which he acted disgusted.
“Look, I don’t want you replacing my wife. And you won’t be. You’ll be here for public appearance only, otherwise, I don’t care what you do.” He sneered, pushing me away.
“This can’t be happening.” I cried, falling to my knees.
“If we didn’t pluck you from your world, you too would have met a tragic ending. Your ex boyfriend would have come back to kill you in your sleep, with the destructive weapons you call guns. Those do not exist here, nor do we want them to. If we were to send you back to your world, even if you avoid your ex boyfriend, fate will find a different way. You are only safe here as this is your true destiny.”
“I-I don’t understand…” I mumbled still on the floor.
“I am a very gifted Sorceress, I am able to see into other worlds, it’s a new found ability to bring other people to our world, however, according to the signs it was meant to be. I was given the gift as this was your destiny. You must continue Gwendalyn’s legacy.”
“Why don’t you send her to another world so she doesn’t die?!” I exclaimed, starting to feel really light headed.
Leah gave me a saddened glance. “It is not her fate, unlike you.”
“I don’t want to do this. Please.” I begged, everything slowly fading black.
