Meanwhile, in the mountains…
A small family of red foxes were enjoying their day. The family consisted of a father, mother, and a young fox pup, around 2 years old. The little kit was rolling around on the ground giggling.
“Ok Haley, daddy and I need to talk to you,” the mother said.
Haley stood up and walked over.
“What is it mommy?,”
“Well… your daddy and I have been thinking and you’re gonna have a new baby brother or sister,” she said.
Haley’s smile grew. “Oh cool! When?,” she asked.
“Well…,” Haley’s dad went to explain when there was a loud rumble.
The two parents looked up and gasped. Haley’s mother picked her up by the scruff and hid her in a hole in the mountain.
“Haley, listen to me. Stay right here. Don’t move, don’t make a sound until it’s completely quiet,” her mother instructed.
Haley looked nervous and confused. “Mom-,”
“It’ll be ok sweetie,”
The rumbling got louder.
“Go! Go!,” the dad yelled and the two ran as fast as they could away from the hole.
Haley watched as a herd of caribou ran down the mountain creating a cloud of dust that clouded Haley’s vision. All she could hear were the yells of a few humans.
