After crying her eyes out, Courtney cleans her face up and leaves the restroom. She walks down the hall and sees Alex walking with his friends. She turns around and walks out the door leaving the building. She takes the sidewalk to go to her next class. She walks into the classroom and sits down in her desk which is right next to Kate’s. “Courtney, I’m sorry,” Kate said. “No, just don’t talk to me,” Courtney said. Courtney and Kate went the whole class not saying a word to each other. When school ended, Courtney starts walking home. Out of nowhere it starts raining, and she gets soaked, so she gets under a tree. Then she sees Alex walking down the sidewalk with an umbrella.
He stops and comes over to the tree. “Do you need any help?” Alex asked. “Yeah, I got caught in the rain,” Courtney said, blushing. Alex gives Courtney a hand, and she nervously took it. “Thank you,” Courtney said. Alex pulls Courtney closer to him so she can get under the umbrella. “I’ve seen you around at school, you’re very quiet,” Alex said. “Yeah I'm not very social,” Courtney said. “I actually always wanted to talk to you, but my friends have always crowded me,” Alex said. Courtney could feel her face become red. Then Courtney realizes they were by her house. “Oh this is my house thank you for walking me home,” Courtney said. “Well, it’s nice to meet you finally,” Alex said. Courtney starts walking to the front door, then Alex calls her name. “Courtney, can I get your number?” Alex asked nervously. “Oh yeah, I just need something to write it on,” Courtney said. Alex rummaged through his backpack to find some paper. “Just write it on my hand,” Alex said while holding his hand out. “Okay,” Courtney said, trying not to seem nervous. Courtney pulls a pen out of her backpack and writes her number on Alex's hand. “Alright, there it is,” Courtney said. “Okay, I will text you when I get home. Bye, Courtney,” Alex said as he slowly walks away.
