Foreign Turbulence

Prologue

Prologue

Sep 25, 2020

The whole world seemed to spin as he ran.

5 men remain, that’s 3 down from the original 8. Shit, the forest can only slow them down so much…

His thoughts ran wild as he pushed past the brush and over the roots sticking up from the ground. The wind passed by him at furious speeds as he gained pace, trying to outrun the 5 cyclists behind him who were keeping up surprisingly well.

Damn, he’s so determined he even got these idiots trained? They haven’t given up and it’s been an hour's chase already, they must be getting paid well…

He ran along the river bank, hoping to find a gap small enough to side step and jump over to the other side. Though he thought no good of it; as he started to notice that the more he ran, the louder the water started to sound.

You’ve got to be kidding me, this has to be the worst possible timing…

He instinctively knew what was coming up, yet he kept the same pace, hoping the cyclists wouldn’t notice as he planned to use it to his advantage.

It’s now or never… Here’s to hoping Jace got Nixi home safe and sound, and that these morons are as dumb as they were when we first met.

Syllvesteiar pulled his legs out in front of him and he started to slide, looking back to the cyclists who didn’t seem to be slowing down. He smirked back at the leader of the group as her eyes went wide, finally realizing the situation she and her team had been put in. The roaring sound of the waterfall drowned out Syllvesteiar's instinctual shriek as his foot hit a rock and he was flung off the cliff. The motorcyclists pressed on their breaks too hard and 3 of the 5 flew off with him, while the other two were thrown right to the edge of the cliff. Syllvesteiar landed in the water hard and an unusual sense of drowsiness overcame his senses.

I know I can swim, so why isn’t my body responding? Why am I so dizzy? Shit, that bastard must have given me something while I was blacked out earlier…

The water started to feel like clouds and his thoughts faded into nothing as he lost consciousness.

“Sir?”

“Did you get it done Rose?”

“The subject fell off a cliff along with 3 of our own sir…”

“That’s fine. The poison flowing through his system should take effect soon. Someone else will find him; he’ll be dead by then, and the threat will be eliminated. Just bring whoever survived and we’ll head back home.”

“Yes, sir.”

Walter hung up his phone and his face stayed straight, twisting into what could be perceived as remorse. He couldn’t quite comprehend what he had just done. His son, the boy he had called a monster for years, was gone.
