A little girl stood alone in the middle of the ruins.
The remains of one of the colonial cities founded six years after the planet's discovery. It was impossible to tell which party or group the city had once belonged to. The once-tall buildings were either damaged by deep cuts or flattened to the ground. Wrecked vehicles and military equipment lined the streets, along with the remains of residents and soldiers who had tried to protect the city. Now only the ruins could speak of the hope and atmosphere of departure that once reigned in this city.
But what was the little girl doing there? She was perhaps 4-6 years old and was wearing nothing but a much too baggy and torn dress, stained all over with blood. Her long black hair was blowing in the wind as she held on to her dress with her tiny, snow-white hands. She stared at the horizon.
A massive pillar of light rose into the sky, surrounded by a huge white structure that looked like thorns, casting a soft glow over the surrounding area.
The pillar of light emanated from a white bead at the base of the pillar. The giant thorns, which seemed to defy gravity, floated around like petals thrown into water.
Three more pillars of light, encircled by magical rings, surrounded the central one. They floated around it like monoliths. Their light didn't touch the ground or the sky. They moved slowly, as if dancing around the central pillar, while the intensity of the light from the central pillar grew stronger and stronger.
From the white pearl at the bottom, light structures rose around the pillar, as if the light itself was alive, as if it wanted to grow like a flower.
In the sky there was a huge magical circle, so large that its end extended beyond the horizon. Even the light of the nearby Milky Way faded in the presence of the magic circle's light. The shape and complexity of the circle seemed to come from another world. The circle rotated gently above the planet and the pearl, waiting.
Below the circle, the pillar in the centre, still surrounded by tendrils of light, pierced the sky. It was the only way to describe it. A massive hole appeared above the pillar of light, surrounded by a ring of light. There seemed to be another magical circle hidden in its centre.
As if it wanted to cleanse the world, everything around it began to float towards the hole. Ruins, wrecked vehicles, the ground itself, even the ring of light surrounding the hole seemed to be sucked into it. The closer to the hole, the larger the objects that were sucked in. In the distance, entire building complexes could be seen being sucked into the void. But the dance of the columns of light continued uninterrupted, as if nothing could tarnish the purity of the light. The Light continued to shine, unaffected by what was happening around it. Like the light, the giant white thorns defied the pull of the pit and continued to float.
It was a scene out of another world.
The light reflected off the girl's dark hair. Black tears fell from the girl's snow-white cheeks. The magic circle around the planet, as well as the hole, began to shine brightly like the light of the white pearl.
Accompanied by a beautiful but sad melody, the world was covered in white.
And then, from one moment to the next, everything was over...
The light covered everything...
The planet...
The asteroid field around the planet...
The space between the galaxies...
The Milky Way...
The light spread ceaselessly around the world. A world disordered by war, hatred and resentment. It was as if it wanted to take on all the hate and suffering of the world...
This planet was Nykara, the origin of the war that would be known as the Second Outbreak in the history of the world.
