While the Beloved Lady of this world happily consumed her BLT sandwich, Lilith began to explain what she knew.
Phalaliah slowly returned to his work, soul feeling refreshed after witnessing his little mistress’ warmth in person.
Luther, for his part, sulked in irritation silently on his separate seat.
What he really wanted to do was rush over there and let Lucia know that he had a different slab of meat he knew she’d enjoy eating, but if he even dared to try, his seniors would kick his ass immediately.
Breath escaping him in a long weary sigh, Luther covered his face with his hands. “One hundred thousand years of celibacy and now, suddenly, I’ve turned into what the humans call a ‘horny teenager’! Oh, the shame!”
The only perk to this situation had to be that Lucia had no idea what was going on. If she knew...well, if she discovered just how ‘naughty’ he wanted to be, she’d die of a heart attack.
“Seriously...how did the old geezer survive so long with this horrible curse?! Damn the humans for killing my little brother! If they hadn’t I never would have been forced to take on this mantle!”
Unable to hear any of Luther’s heart-felt cries of anger and shame, Lucia turned her full attention to Lilith’s explanation. But, the more she heard, the less she felt like she could believe.
In this world, called Earth-669, or just ‘Earth’ for those living here, there was a very commonly known religion based on a book called ‘The Bible’. In the story, a being known as ‘God’ created the world in seven days. He also created the first two humans, Adam and Eve, who were charged with naming all of God’s creations and living in the Garden of Eden.
But, unfortunately, Eve was tempted and deceived by a snake into eating of the Forbidden Fruit of Knowledge, damning humanity to a life of sin while the two were cast out of the Garden.
From there, many things happened.
Angels, beings created by God to serve Him and watch over His Children, were sent down to the mortal world to observe, guide, and punish humanity as the years continued. Wars were fought, disasters occurred, while many were slain in the name of both false gods and God Himself.
Until, one very important day, a virgin woman was chosen as the mother of God’s Son, Mary. Joseph was also chosen to raise the child and so, months later, Jesus was born.
With powers and abilities much like God Himself, given flesh-form, Jesus spread his Father’s love and word, until tragedy struck and he was killed by the people he had been sent to save. Three days later, Jesus rose from death and ascended to his rightful place at his Father’s side.
But...most of that was fake.
At least, here on Earth 669.
“You see, there are an infinite number of parallel worlds resting beside one another but never able to interact under normal circumstances. This world, this Earth, is but one of many where the story of ‘The Bible’ that exists in the same manner as I just told you is actually false. I’m sure there are just as many versions of Earth where it’s the truth, but that isn’t the case here. No, instead….”
Trailing off, Lilith glanced over at Luther, raising an elegant black brow in question. Seeing him nod somberly, gold eyes narrowed in annoyance, the deviless returned her attention back to the young lady.
“Instead?” Lucia pressed for a continuation, sitting on the edge of her seat, food long ago finished.
“Instead,” Lilith lifted her lips slowly in a grin, “God is just as real as me or you. He is a man of flesh, though that flesh is quite different from how it may appear. He can love, hate, rage, laugh, and cry the same as anyone else. As humanity is fond of saying, they were created in His image. And...just as humans can, God can also create a child by lying with a woman.”
Blinking rapidly, Lucia gaped up at Lilith’s mirth filled eyes, perplexed.
“That one,” pointing a finger at Luther firmly caused Lucia to turn her attention to the dark man, “is our previous God’s first-born son.”
